This has become a favorite sushi spot for the rolls! A. Creative and fun names but most importantly B. They are melt in your mouth delish and C. Always oh so fresh! Went for the fifth time last night and every time I go back I am pretty sure it was better than the time before. We always start with seaweed salad however my husband got the octopus salad this time and was very pleased. For out two rolls it took me so much will power not to order the Cupcake as it so amazing. We got the dynamite and the Ninja Turtles. I’m not sad I didn’t order the Cupcake! Both of the rolls were packed full of flavor! The dynamite is a baked roll — so a good one for those that maybe are scared to go all in on the first go. No matter what you get on the menu you won’t be disappointed — we have yet to try something we don’t love! To top it off the owner and staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Dallas sushi rarely fails me! This place is ridiculous. I started with the Tuna Ceviche appetizer… AMAZING! Got some Tuna and Salmon sashimi, nice, large pieces. Finished off with the Ninja Turtle, again, insane good. Very pleased! Coming back soon!

I heard this place gets packed on the weekends, but there was no wait as my coworkers and I went on a weeknight. The place was pretty spacious, and the décor was simple, nothing extravagant. After much contemplation, I opted for the Cupcake Roll, since the waitress highly recommended it. It was a great choice, indeed! My coworkers also enjoyed their rolls. I would like to return and try some of the other items on their menu. The only downside was that their prices are a bit high.

My friend had her bday party here on a Sunday night. Being the Unilocaler that I am, I immediately Unilocaled this place when she told me we were eating sushi at this place. For one, I have never heard of this place, so I was skeptical even with the amount of stars. We arrived at 7:30 and we were the only people there. The place closes at 9, and we were there until 9, yet no one else came in to dine other than our party. I had dinner prior because I didn’t want to eat bad sushi, so I only ordered a sashimi salad. It was ok. Not the best, but I guess not the worst. But who would want average, right? Everyone else ordered cooked rolls. If you love quality sushi, this isn’t the place for you. I also had their mochi icecream, and golly, it was horrible. $ 3.50 for a little ball, that’s not good. No thanks. The lady was really nice there but, I’m kind of being nice already giving it 3 stars.

I was sent to Plano for business and wanted to have sushi for my first night. I did some research and read Shiro Sushi is a must try place. I was truely not disappointed. I ordered the chef’s special, eight piece sushi and eight piece sashimi. The portion are ridiculous and the food was so fresh. If you are a sushi lover and in Plano please visit Shiro Sushi and tell them Gary from Austin sent you. Happy eatins!

Excellent find. Very fresh sushi and friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Doesn’t have the ambience of some of the«trendy» sushi bars, but the quality makes up for it. Highly recommend.

Way overpriced for market-quality sushi. I ordered the snow crab California roll(thinking it would be like Teppo’s California roll with real crab meat) — it’s not. It’s just an avocado roll with a tiny slice of crab on top so the avocado overpowers the crab. That was $ 14. The Mickey Mouse roll was pleasing to the eye but the combo of orange tang and spicy mayo was not my favorite. I also ordered one piece of sweet shrimp sushi. It tasted a little warm and definitely not fresh. There was also way too much rice. My cousin and I came here at 5 on a Tuesday so there was only one other customer. However, the food still took more than 15 minutes to come out. The waitress/hostess was friendly, enthusiastic, and sweet. The menu consists of 80% sushi items. There were only a few hot entrees and some Korean BBQ dishes. Only decided to try this place out because it was near my class. Not coming back.

It was my 2nd time at Shiro Sushi and I went for lunch with a few of my friends and cousins. The lunch menu was very cheap with $ 5 rolls such as spicy tuna, crunchy roll(similar to spider roll) and my personal favorite the Mean Green Burrito.(Mix of spicy tuna and crab meat with an orange savory sauce to dip OR a tangy black sauce) I was very pleased at the atmosphere and the staff. Very friendly waitress/hostess(assuming it was the owner) The Resturant’s atmosphere had nice Japanese décor and peaceful music. Lots of families talking among themselves, but not to loud. Our bill came to be $ 43 between 6 people and everyone was very full at the end. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a good/cheap eat.

I LOVE this place! I always recommend this place whenever someone wants sushi! They have a great variety, but it’s a tad bit pricey. It’s worth it though.

Very good service. I feel like I’m in Japan. The vinegar filled rice makes my mouth water. Sweet and bitter rice leaves a refreshing after taste that makes me want more The fish is so fresh that it feels like it was just caught from the ocean. The perfectly fired seaweed tops it all off. Overall very authentic and enjoyable.

My first warning was the yelling when I walked in. WTF is up w that, an Asian Dickies? I don’t think I have ever had good sushi at a place that does this. Small comfortable spot with friendly service and mediocre sushi. Nothing was bad but nothing was great either. Well, the miso soup was bad. Otherwise just another strip mall sushi joint. A happy ending — chef could tell I didn’t care for it and brought two slices is salmon belly to me. «toro» I asked — he was happily surprised I knew it. Much better.

An update, some 18 months later. I have been coming back weekly and have forgotten to provide an updated review. The mackerel has become a favorite. It’s fresh and always tasty. They make some fantastic special rolls that contain a very high protein to rice ratio, with quite a few of options for the no-carb foodies like myself. Give them a try, Shiro won’t disappoint.

Disappointed visit sine the last time a couple of months. Quality of the rolls is not worth the $ you spend. A deep-fried roll(forgot what it’s called) had bay scallops that were covered in THICK layer of batter — that’s much worse than the fried chicken finger in a Chinese chop suey shop. Done with this one.

Food(5⁄5): I have to admit I’m pretty biased. I don’t really like rice… so that’s why I LOVE the riceless section of the menu. It’s an assortment of rolls that are strictly comprised of fish and pretty much every accoutrement sushi can have without rice. With that said, the prices are reasonable given the amount of fresh fish I consume in one riceless dish alone(~$ 13-$ 15). I highly recommend the Kumbaya(a mix of salmon, tuna, crab covered in fresh avocado that is later scooped with the chips provided). It’s sort of like a modern sushi take on chips and queso but wayyyy better. That’s not to say the rice sushi is bad; my boyfriend loves the pink lemonade roll(a glorified California roll topped with tuna and slices of lemon), and it’s incredibly fresh in the fish quality and refreshing with the lemon slice. Service(5⁄5): Every time I come, I’m always greeted by the sweet hostess. She always has a smile on her face, so it makes for a better experience. The main sushi chef is also really nice. They are Korean but that doesn’t deter from the sushi quality. Atmosphere(3.5÷5): You have the option to sit at the sushi bar or tables. The facility itself is very clean and decorated with cute floral centerpieces at each table. However, I feel the restaurant lacks its own personality. Against the Japanese-inspired décor, there are two large-screen TVs that are usually showing football(I like to come on Sunday nights so maybe it’s my timing?) so it sort of clashes with the style the restaurant aims to achieve. However, I can understand why some people might enjoy the TVs so it’s probably just my personal opinion. Overall, this is a very solid place for sushi, especially the riceless options. The service is also very attentive. I personally feel the restaurant lacks its own unique atmosphere but it’s still immaculately clean so it doesn’t severely affect the overall dining experience. Great for date nights and intimate friend /family gatherings! :)

BIG rolls, but not sure you get your money’s worth… all of the rolls were about $ 2 – 3 more than you would spend elsewhere. My favorite roll actually was their basic shrimp tempura roll. That one you definitely get your money’s worth — $ 6 for a roll of slices so big and fat I could barely fit them in my mouth. The combo of shrimp tempura and«crab» was really tasty. The salmon roll was decent, but for $ 6 overpriced. I can get salmon-and-avocado rolls for $ 4 at other places, and those have avocado in them. So there. At our waiter’s suggestion, we also tried the Mighty Mouse roll and the Kiss From a Rose roll. The Mighty Mouse roll was okay, but the level of spice in the spicy tuna was just overpowering to me – you couldn’t taste the fish. The Kiss From a Rose roll was light and yummy, but WAY overpriced for what it was(basically a «crab» California roll topped with tuna with a fancy/silly presentation to make it look like a flower). I don’t really like paying a premium for rolls simply because the chef puts it on the plate in a silly design. Also, they had way too many spicy rolls on their menu, which is usually a sign of a place that tends to mask not-so-fresh fish with spicy mayo. Even my husband, who’s a big fan of spicy rolls, acknowledged that there were very few rolls on the menu that didn’t have a spicy fish ingredient.

My friends and I(group of 8) came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It seemed pretty slow so we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. After a lot of looking over the menu, we saw a lot of the same things in rolls. That being said, I like most of them so it didn’t bother me but it did make for a difficult decision. I finally settled on the Kiss From a Rose roll(riceless — crab and avocado wrapped in tuna with mango salsa) which was pretty good. I tried some of my friends’ Cupcake Roll and Tower of Doom, which tasted kind of the same. I will say that these rolls are visually gorgeous and pretty large(albeit mostly filled with crab and such) so that it feels like you’re getting your money’s worth. Whether you really are or not is debatable. The service was pretty good. There was one moment when we thought we were being ignored but I think he might’ve just been watching TV behind us and another moment when one of our questions was too vaguely answer. Otherwise, our waters were always filled and plates were cleared off quickly. My favorite part was at the end of the meal when they gave us a mini cup of strawberry-papaya juice(instead of the standard oranges) which were delicious! I’d be back to try more rolls too. Hint/Tip: They have a happy hour menu with rolls that differ everyday.

First of all, the service is really great. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in, and the wait staff was pretty attentive throughout our meal. After perusing the menu for a while, it seemed like most of the rolls were very crab-heavy. It definitely would have been nice to see more variety in fish, but we decided on the(salmon) Tower of Doom, the Kiss from a Rose, and the Rock’n. The presentations were all really elaborate and pretty, and the rolls were HUGE, especially the Rock’n. Kiss from a Rose was very fresh and light, the Rock’n was tasty but had a bit too much crunch on top, and the Tower of Doom had way too much sauce/spicy mayo mixed it. It was so creamy that we ordered a bowl of white rice to mix into the tower – and that still wasn’t enough. They ended the meal by giving each of us a small cup of papaya-strawberry juice, which was really yummy. Overall, decent sushi and creative presentations. I’ll be back to try more!

Shiro Sushi is catered to those who aren’t into authentic sushi and just want the big, showy rolls. They slice off huge pieces of sashimi, so you really feel like you get your money’s worth. However, the quality of all the sashimi is not that great. It’s grainy and tastes like it’s just been thawed. What I actually like best here is the bibimbap in the stone bowl. It’s big enough to share among 5 people! The fried shrimp heads are also very good — probably better here than at anywhere else I’ve been. So to me, this place was just ok because I was hoping for authentic, good quality sushi. Come here for the special rolls and Korean dishes.

VERY nice server, she smiled the WHOLE time even with just 4 customers. We got the Crunch Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll, which were both more than enough for one person and had great flavor. We ordered from the Happy Hour menu, but the only thing that I didn’t like is that the Mini Bites at the bottom of the menu, neither of the two were available that night. I really wanted to try them. At the end of our dinner, we were given a mini Strawberry Papaya smoothie with orange slices, which was rather refreshing, naturally sweet and palette cleansing. We liked it a lot.
