We decided to go here on a Friday night after reading a lot of 4-star reviews, but we weren’t that impressed. It is a very small restaurant and some furniture doesn’t match the ambience. We ordered the seaweed salad, miso soup with dumplings, spicy salmon rolls, albacore roll, and the crab tower. Seaweed salad was good, but quantity was little for the price. The soup was also overpriced. The rolls were just OK, nothing I would go back for. The star was the crab tower. It was delicious and unique. Service is good, everyone was very polite and courteous.

Located in downtown Plano with convenient parking in the nearby garage, we decided to check this place out. It’s very, very small. So small that we had to sit at the sushi bar instead of a table because all the tables were occupied. Wasn’t a fan of that at all. Service was okay, food was just okay as well. I’m no sushi expert and don’t eat it very often, but I wasn’t impressed with anything I ate here. Still looking for a great sushi place with lots of variety. Also, when we stopped by, they hadn’t been open very long, so there were no alcoholic beverages served. I think they were still waiting to get a license/permit or something. Hopefully, that’s been resolved by now.

We rushed here after our son’s basketball game for a Friday date night. Website and the door said they were open until 1000. We were met at the door at 925 and told they were closed. When we asked why they advertised 1000, we were told they close their kitchen and at 930. Customer service is non-existent anymore and they gave us a great reason to never come back here and try their restaurant ever again. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Very clean. Nice ambiance but very small. Food was below average. Service is slow and uncomfortable. Rude after the yellowtail roll was sent back(not consistent to chewy-old) Ikura-good Salmon Tower-small portion and salmon was to chewy and bad Pitchfork Roll –wasn’t good or bad, somewhere in the funky middle

We had a delightful lunch here on a lovely Saturday afternoon. We had just arrived in Plano after taking the DART rail up from downtown Dallas. We walked along K street until we came upon Uni Sushi, a charming little space with a lovely dining room decorated in black and white. There is a sushi bar against one wall and a television playing football above that, but the vibe in the dining room itself is quite classy. We were disappointed to learn that the lunch menu is not served on the weekends(I was looking forward to a bento box) but we quickly realized that the dinner menu had some fantastic options. We arrived at 1:45, not realizing that the kitchen closes at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, but our waiter was kind enough to assure us that he would get our order in before the kitchen closed. We started with the Salmon Skin Roll, which was excellent. The perfect combination of savory and sweet, with that scrumptious crunch of salmon skin and fresh veggies. YUM. For our entrees, my boyfriend and I both ordered the Spicy Salmon Don. Usually we each get something different and share, but this time we were both so in the mood for that particular dish that we just decided to get two orders. And we were thrilled with them. I cannot describe to you how delectable this meal was. A bed of sticky sushi rice is topped with a seaweed cucumber salad, which in turn is topped with fresh, expertly sliced salmon sashimi. Atop that is drizzled an amazing, spicy-sweet sauce, and then the dish is garnished with crunchy bean sprouts. The whole thing was incredible. We were scraping our bowls for any last drop. I can highly recommend a weekend lunch at Uni, and I can promise we will back back for more!

Place is small so parties 3+ may need to wait a bit or sit at the bar. The service was great(sushi chef and waiters incredibly friendly and professional). I’ll need to come back because I just got the chirashi don(sashimi on rice, with a little bit of seaweed salad). Highest quality chirashi I’ve had anywhere. It may vary night to night, but it came with 2 – 3 pieces of 7 kinds of sushi. Will be back to try some rolls and other sashimi. They also have an impressive looking entrée menu with hot options like galbi and popcorn lobster. I’m a fan. Highly recommend Uni based on this experience.

This place is an excellent sushi restaurant. The only reason I gave them 4 stars(and not 5) is because their dining area has an average seats and tables without anything wow(which is not a bad thing) The quality is great and there sushi rolls have less rice and more fish. They also have a very good selection of tasty special rolls The service is also very good and they are very nicely priced. Pretty much in downtown Plano, which is close to many other entertainments and activities.

So i only came here to try their giant sushi burrito! I had heard of a sushiritto from a friend and I Unilocaled it and it had listed 2 locations. 1 being Uni Sushi. Walked into, small place, very fancy and comfy seats… Not the normal seats for restaurants. They were really nice, like a chair the king/queen on a chest set would sit in. Our server brought us water right away along with the menu. Our server was very nice. I ordered 1 giant sushi burrito and golden spicy tuna roll(light battered spicy tuna roll). The burrito was a very good size! It’s cut in half with all the fish inside, wrap with soy paper I believe, and a white paper sheet. On the side was spicy mayo and eel sauce. I loved it with spicy mayo. I couldn’t not finish all the burrito. The golden spicy tuna roll was average… I wish it was spicier. Very nice and clean restaurant.

My friend was raving about the sushiritto, and I was a bit skeptical about the sushi + burrito concept. I thought it might be a fad like the ramen burger. So to try this mystical sushi burrito, we drove from downtown Dallas all the way to downtown Plano. There is a free parking garage in back, and Uni Sushi is tucked in the corner. After this dinner, I realized the trek was worth it and I will be back here whenever I can… The sushiritto is so delicious! It’s a handy burrito shape, so it’s easy to pick up and eat(esp for those who have yet to master chopsticks). I can see this sushiritto being a good intro for sushi newbies who don’t have a good handle on chopsticks and are constantly frustrated from the rolls breaking apart on them. There’s a paper wrapping to tear as you devour. The sashimi was fresh, and there was an assortment of imitation crab, tuna, and salmon sashimi. A lot of restaurants pack on a lot of rice and give smaller amounts of sashimi… but this sushiritto featured generous amounts of sashimi! The rice quantity was just right. It’s a good amount of food, too. I took a fourth of it home because I couldn’t finish it and it still tasted amazing the next morning. For dessert, we ordered two mochi ice creams. Our waiter gave us one bonus mochi on the house. Small gestures like this make the dinner all the more pleasant and pleasing. :) Green tea mochi was delicious, but I was addicted to the mango! The mochi is a pretty good size. It’s mostly ice cream wrapped in mochi skin and cut into bite-sized quarters. Surprisingly the chocolate sauce was really good and I made sure to smudge as much as I could on the mochi’s. The atmosphere is great for an intimate quiet peaceful dinner. Service is top notch and helpful. I’m quite envious of those who live right above the restaurant… It was the perfect dinner and I will be back next time I’m in Dallas!

I would first like to state that this restaurant is pretty fancy. My coworker and I walked in and instantly got the elephant in the room feeling from other customers. The cooks and servers weren’t phased. Just a couple of young professionals with chest pieces and red hair lol. Anyways… The lunch menu was great but we really came for the non lunch menu sushi. Happy we did. We started off with Miso soup and the House Salad. And for drinks green tea. After the green tea wasn’t scorching it was pretty tasty, we also dropped a lemon in there to add on to some of that good flavor. The soup was phenomenal!!! It had tofu slices in it. The texture of the tofu was a bit rubbery but it’s tofu. The soup was prepared to perfection. The salad had a really good vinegarette on it, tangy but sweet. Had radish, carrots, beats, cucumbers and tomatoes. Very nice salad with simple ingredients. We ordered the pitchfork and the special dragon rolls. Plus we ordered two regular rolls, the California and spicy tuna off the lunch menu. This is the freshest raw fish I’ve had in Dallas. It’s almost like the went and fished in the kitchen and brought back the catch. Extra eel sauce for me and of course some soy and you’re in sushi paradise. What is life?! Our server TK was great. He had all the tables in the house managed all of them well, including ours. Plus he gave us a fresh soup to take home. I was smitten at this point. Great food and great customer service, yes it’s love.

Wanted to try a new sushi restaurant and saw the reviews at Uni Sushi. I really enjoyed all the sushi that we ordered, especially the Giant Burrito Roll, Phoenix Roll :) My husband also love it! Wow~ very fresh fish!

Pretty decent sushi restaurant. It’s in downtown Plano so you have to park in the garage behind the restaurant(luckily, it’s free). The tables in the back have large, comfy chairs. Started off with the red cannon roll and enjoyed it a lot — the salmon wrapped around each roll was pretty good quality and tasted great. Just the right amount of sauces, too. Tuna hand roll was pretty standard. I got the udon noodles for my entrée and it was quite a large bowl. I didn’t enjoy the broth of the udon too much — it was slightly too sweet for me so the Inari in the udon was also very sweet. My friend got the Una Ju but he said the sushi rice wasn’t great quality. Otherwise the eel that came with the Una Ju was pretty standard. Ended the meal with a complimentary red bean mochi which was tasty! Service was pretty slow too. I think they only had 2 guys tending to the entire restaurant.

Oh sushi burrito we finally meet. Uni Sushi is a winner. My favorite sushi restaurants in the Plano area used to be Densetsu, and now Shiawase, and no other sushi restaurant had captured my heart… until now. This place really is a contender. The atmosphere is so on point. It’s suitable for a casual catchup lunch with a girlfriend or even a romantic dinner date with your bae. The setting is intimate: Tables for four are in the front, and lounge chairs for two near the back. It’s not that big, so if you don’t want to wait go on a weekday for lunch! Also, I just loved the music playlist! They played romantic instrumentals like la vie en rose and other romantic songs. yes I like romantic things. Service was wonderful. Now for the food: Giant Burrito Roll. Yes PLEASE. And no this is not a Chipotle burrito but it’s just as addicting. A giant sushi roll filled with avocado, tuna, salmon, and crab meat served with eel sauce and spicy mayo for your dipping pleasure. All for $ 12.59! This is actually a lower price than a sushi burrito at Densetsu and Shiawase, too. Serving portion is a wee smaller(I could eat it all in one sitting) than at Densetsu/Shiawase BUT the ratio of fish to rice is better at Uni Sushi IMO. And for those who are wondering if you can eat that soybean paper… I’m thinking no LOL.(Someone tell me if I’m wrong, hate to waste food.) Very grateful for the convenient free parking in the nearly garage. Until next time, Uni Sushi. ;)

Once a friend learned that I loved sushi, he mentioned that I should try out the new sushi place in downtown Plano. The husband and I thought that was a great idea and since our staycation seemed to be focused on «Let’s go to ____to eat,» we headed to Uni for lunch. Uni was packed — every table and chair at the sushi bar was filled.(We were later told by many people that this was unusual — but maybe from the number of positive reviews we read, Uni should consider this the new normal.) The restaurant seemed unprepared for that level of busyness. One server tried gamely — and graciously — to visit every table, take orders, refill water and was quite apologetic about the wait. A sign of the busy? When we placed our order, he said it would be prepared«as soon as possible.» And that was definitely an accurate statement: One gentleman(the owner?) rolled our sushi while he had an assistant garnishing and caring for the hot food preparation. It may be that this level of busy and small staff size was the reason our rolls were very loose when delivered — it was difficult to eat a piece without it falling apart. You may think from these two critical comments that we were unhappy with our experience. You would be wrong. We’ve eaten a lot of sushi over the years, at many wonderful and noted restaurants and can confidently say that Uni Sushi was some of the best we’ve ever had. The sauce flavors were amazing — delicately applied and not overdone. The fish was equally excellent. I loved their seaweed salad. The pricing was more than fair — in fact, they may want to raise prices some for the basic lunch special. I want Uni to figure out how to balance staffing so service speed and presentation quality are at the level they should be as word spreads and business continues to increase. They deserve to be successful. Uni very much feels like a family-owned restaurant and I can’t wait to eat there many many many more times.

YES I’m so glad this is close to me, and all sashimi lovers should too. I can’t describe how happy I am to have gone here! It’s a day later and I’m still dreaming about the giant sushi burrito because of the thick slabs of sashimi. I could literally eat this every day. It’s wrapped pretty well, the rice tastes just right, and there aren’t any overpowering flavor that can take away from the taste. Red cannon roll: yes again! If you’re a fan of salmon sashimi with a little spicy tuna on top, get this roll! It’s just a simple Cali toll wrapped with salmon. Perfect portion! Popcorn Lobster roll: the roll itself was really good– they do their rolls very well. However the popcorn portion wasn’t my favorite– I probably won’t get it again. I was sort of expecting a crunchy side to the top, but no worries! P. s. The radish is a little dry. Suggestion: Possibly work on lighting?(During lunch time more so than dinner). It’s free marketing! For Unilocalers especially, if the lighting is good it’s easier to take pictures and show people. Side note: I like how they give you clipboards with the menu and checks. Good service, no rush!(Closed from 2:30−5) I would definitely say this is more of a sushi roll place than the other dishes they have. We only ordered three items at the beginning and that was more than enough for two people– about 40 $ or so! Mochi was on the house! Really glad dtown Plano added this.

«Giant Burrito Roll» = sushi + burrito = sushirrito = AMAZING. For real though, who needs to fly out to California to eat a sushirrito when they have this little gem in Downtown Plano? This no-frills sushirrito was wonderful. For $ 12.95, it’s a bit pricey, but well worth it since the quality is so GR8 and the portion size is VERY decent. More importantly, though, it was STUFFED with HUGE chunks of salmon, tuna, imitation crab, and avocado. Ever been disappointed by tiny chunks of raw fish in your sushi entrees?! Yeah, none of that nonesense up in Uni!!! The spicy mayo sauce was subtley sweet and added a kick without being overpowering, and paired perfectly with the meal! My sister ordered the chicken teriyaki, and it was okay. I didn’t think the chicken was tender or flavorful enough. I probably wouldn’t have ordered it myself. The staff here are super friendly — since it wasn’t so busy, they were accommodating when my sister asked to make substitutions to her bento box(even though the menu says«no susbstitutions, please» lol). We even got red bean mochi ice cream on the house!!! It was delicious. The environment was also really nice and quiet. Super chill, classy ambience; everything was beautifully plated; service was awesome — I think it’d make a great date spot! I’ll definitely be back. The sushi here is faaaantastic.
