Too Jays has been one of my favorite deli’s in FL since I’ve lived here, BUT2 times in the past week I have ordered to go food only to leave and find out my order was wrong. Service is just one of the things they are known for, although both times they were upset at me for pointing out their mistake. I love the food but the poor service will keep me away. To make matters worse once I was given my food the second time it was wrong AGAIN.

Food is alright and service is hit or miss. There can be really long lines on weekends. Not worth the wait in my opinion.

Went for corn beef on St. Patrick’s day. Stood in line for 20 minuets, only to find out they ran out of corn beef. People coming out Said service very slow and food not very good. Long time before I go back. Harriet G

TooJay’s did a great job catering a lunch for a client in Ft. Lauderdale. They provided a nice mix of sandwiches and wraps, salads, fruit and dessert. The shrimp platter was awesome!

Love this place. My family and I eat there for breakfast several times a week and are never disappointed. We aways ask for MaryAnne as our server and she really is the absolute best. The food is always perfect and the vey few times something has ever been wrong they have immediately corrected it.

Came to Too Jay’s just after breakfast time. Without realizing breakfast had ended at the restaurant, I ordered something from the breakfast menu and, after the waitress went to make sure it was ok, they made me what I asked for. I really appreciated this! Oddly, this visit ended up being a mixed experience, with a waitress who was accommodating at first but then never came back to check on me, refill my drink, or take my plate. She didn’t ask how it was, or tell me to have a nice day when she dropped the check. Food was great though…

I went to this place because my wife wanted some old school deli styled food. We went there on 1÷10÷2016 and sat down they gave us the menu and inside i found a roach shell. Then i had 2 roaches crawling in the chair and i killed them me and my wife right away told the waitress we got up and left. As we were walking out the manager asked me what happened and i told him and all he could say is would you like a different seat and i told him i dont want anything. If the seating area is infested i could only imagine the kitchen. Stay far away.

Great family spot. Tons of elderly folks eating out, early birds. Great sanwhiches. Love the French Onion soup, add exta cheese! Kids meals are affordable and filling. Great spot for over 15 years, probably 25 or 30. I’ve been there for last 15, can’t go wrong! Best bakery… b &w cookies are moist! Sometimes the counter service near bakery and hectic and unorganized; have seen customer meltdowns! Like any place good, go early, or order take out before the lunch/dinner craze. Overall, good, solid, reliable food quality. Great to bring visitors, guests. Clean place, newly renovated strip plaza, tons of places to walk around afterward to shop(M)e.g, Micheals, Kohls)…

My wife and I decided to come eat here again, since it had been a while. We decided to try something on the menu that we had never had before, and when it came it wasn’t quite what we expected. So we asked our server if we could replace it with something else, and he was happy to exchange it. I won’t mention what the item was, because it’s not that it was bad-more that it wasn’t done in the style that we were used to. Just not quite what we expected. We were surprised when the manager stopped by the table less than a minute after the server walked away. I guess he wanted to find out why we didn’t like the dish. We explained it to him, and let him know that we were very happy with the restaurant overall. Not really complaining, just wanted our meal to be memorable. He was a really nice guy, and he stayed there and talked with us for a little bit. He told us that the restaurant chain is under new ownership, and that they are remodeling all of them. He told us that this location will be being remodeled soon, and described what it will look like. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome looking.(No more carpeting in the dining area!) Our server Jeff was very pleasant, and did a great job. On our way out, we decided that we wanted a couple chocolate rugalach’s. We asked the lady at the pastry counter for them, and she gave them to us! Just gave them to us. She smiled and said, «samples». If there’s one thing this restaurant does well, it’s customer service. And the food is excellent too.

Great food, great service! I ordered the corn beef on rye. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles and my son ordered a cheeseburger with fries. The order took a couple of mins to come but our server was pleasurable. This is a Jewish deli so don’t expect anything extra

Great NY style deli food at the Fountains Shopping Mall in Plantation, Florida. The breakfast menu is killer! If you are looking for authentic Matzo Ball Soup this is the place for you! All the deli sandwiches are huge and delicious and you can do half sandwich — cup of soup combos. They have all your basic sandwiches: beef brisket, roast beef, tongue, liverwurst, hot pastrami, hot corned beef etc! All good stuff!

The waitress here was horrible. This was my first experience at this restaurant. The food is just okay. The Belgium waffles were hard and cold. The waitress is very short not sweet. Our food didn’t come out together, the waitress forgot to put in one order. It was just a bad experience and I won’t be coming back again. Oh and by the way the waitress was Mary.

My company had two catered lunches from TooJays. I thought their sandwich boxes were really solid, including a large fruit cup. I also really liked their strawberry salad with abundant blue cheese. The second day, we had the makings for sandwiches, and I thought their meats were fresh, and the veggie fillings were arranged nicely. Solid pickles. Seems like a great option for big groups.

I must begin by saying I was extremely excited just by the desserts when we walked in! The order was to go. 1 order for the Reuben sandwich on rye. It came with a pickle and very small container of coleslaw. It was 9.99. This price you expect one of 2 things here in this area. Fries or the sandwich is loaded with meat! Neither occurred! While it maybe consider a Kosher meat which do cost more and I believe they said they make their products. The sandwich was a disappointment in taste. I personally don’t care for the flavor, but my true New Yorker sure does! I’ve been to NYC great delis’ and for $ 12.99 you get a sandwich with I kid you not a pound of meat on it, delicious pickles unlimited and coleslaw. Needless to say the Reuben won’t be purchased again. Second meal was a dinner; homemade meatloaf with a mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, choice of salad and a roll. I ate this meal. I chose a Caesar salad, the dressing was nicely wrapped up and I put it on at home. The croutons were fresh and homemade. They were so big I literally could barely close my mouth to chew just 1. Lol! Now I realized when I took everything out of the bag my bread was not packed. The meal was 12.99 or 13.99. The mashed potatoes were fresh and the vegetables were broccoli steamed perfect. Now the meatloaf was another story. I really like this and this was just yuck! No flavor and the gravy was a runny liquid with what looked like dried mushrooms added. So I was hungry n had to eat. I was going to put ketchup on it but didn’t. No onions, just bland meat. It was a generous portion, but why was this yuck? I was stuffed, thank goodness for the salad. I got chocolate for dessert which with tax was $ 5.10. I ate it the next day and it was the BEST! Moist chocolate cake, layered with chocolate mousse. The icing was a chocolate rich ganache like with chocolate chips covering the sides liberally! Heaven! The carrot cake I was told delicious and had nuts and raisins in it with a cream cheese frosting. This food totaled about $ 32.00. Some of it a major hit and some oh well. I overall rated this 3 stars as we have ordered from this store many times and the orders were not always 100% complete or as expected. I will get dessert from TooJay’s, anything else from here on out I doubt it.

We were initially planning on going to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch, but decided to try something new and came here instead. It took awhile for the hostess to figure out which tables were ready for new customers, and when we did finally get seated, there was no sign of a waitress. We had to flag down another staff member and let them know that we were ready to order. The waitress we did end up getting was very nice and apologetic, so that helped. As for food, we got the turkey avocado on brioche and the turkey reuben on rye. Both were quite large and came with cole slaw and a pickle(and fries with the reuben). We both liked the turkey avocado better — the aioli and vegetables made it lighter. The reuben was good for a few bites, then it started to get heavy. We found it tasted better adding the extra Russian dressing they provide on the side. Overall, these were just your standard sandwiches — nothing extraordinary, but also nothing horrible.

Maybe I need to give this place a chance to redeem themselves, but I’m currently not impressed.(Insert Kayla Maroney gymnast face here). I ordered delivery from TooJay’s after hearing that it was sort of this Plantation/Lauderdale institution. Maybe getting delivery to try a place out was mistake número uno. I ordered a «gourmet grilled cheese» and a Cobb salad for delivery late one night when I didn’t feel like grocery shopping or going out to pick up food and the delivery options were slim pickins. The delivery guy shows up with my stuff and lo and behold, they charged me for«gourmet», yet I get regular, COLD grilled cheese. I paid for avocado and bacon with tomato-there was none to be found, and it was greasy and cold. APPETIZING. The fries it came with were soggy and tasted like they had been made last weekend. Gross. I immediately emailed the delivery service for a refund on the difference since I had been charged for the premium but given the basic. The salad ended up being not awful(but then again how hard is it to screw up a Cobb salad?). It was basic and not worth $ 10 though. I would be willing to give the brick and mortar location a fighting chance, given the fact that they would more than likely not forget 75% of the components of my sandwich and then charge me for them, and then serve it to me cold. The delivery service being slow is more than partly to blame, I realize that. So that’s why I will likely give them more of a shot. I will say that I will probably try a cold cut-type hero instead of something gimmicky or a salad, because that was just boring and nothing to write home about. It takes a lot to wow me in a salad and a deli Cobb salad is not one of them. Your move, Toojay’s.

Reviews are all over the place on this restaurant. I very much enjoy diners & café’s with good olé american food such as sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfast items, etc… After a few of my trusted Unilocal friends had reviewed them so highly we went to check them out. From the moment we walked in thing’s just started out very poorly. The restaurant was roughly half full so it was not as if they were a packed house. We requested a booth as usual for us but was told they were all dirty. Ok, so put us in a tiny uncomfortable table right next to the main walk way. The minute our server came over we should have just left because she was the one who sat us and just was so not friendly at all. We ordered several different dishes. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. How hard is it to make a chicken sandwich? Well after quite a bit of time all of our food arrived. Server dropped and fled, yes oh no we do not need any condiments or any refills on our drinks. I can deal with service issues especially if they might be shorthanded with staff. What I can’t deal with is under cooked chicken, yes it was pink. Every one of our dishes were really really bad. The quality of the food was as if the chef could care less what he was putting out. So, ok we could not wait to get out of there to grab a bite at home since we were all hungry. We finally got the waitress attention to get our check and it was very obvious we did not eat. You think she would have asked why? Or if anything was wrong? Nope, grabbed the full plates and walked away. So to end our disappointing experience, my daughter wrote an honest review and the owner writes her via compliment and say’s he does not appreciate people giving him/her a negative review when it is a family owned business, he or she is a small guy that can’t afford to franchise out, and a few other thing’s about how she does not understand. Blah, blah… Oh Sir or Ms. are you ever wrong, we do understand what it is like to own a small family restaurant. We had plenty of them in our home town. And yes it is not easy but when a customer has a bad experience at your restaurant maybe you need to focus on fixing the issues and apologizing to your guest who with our hard earned money paid for three meals that were not even edible. I am tired of excuses, just fix it and the guest will come happily. Yeah, I will not ever return.

When I first moved to the States and was a poor college student, one of my favorite things to do and splurge on was a day at Palm Beach with a turkey sandwich from TooJay’s. The turkey was piled high and it was delicious. Since those days I’ve stopped by TooJay’s in Plantation here and there over the years and never been disappointed. Although I have to laugh now when I see the sandwiches are less than $ 10…I must have really been broke in 2002 lol. This Sunday morning I was looking for a quick, low-key breakfast spot in Plantation and settled on TooJay’s. Of course I didn’t end up getting breakfast food as that all time favorite turkey sandwich was calling my name. Not to mention they’ve stepped their game up and now also feature an avocado turkey sandwich with arugula and lemon aioli! I opted for potato salad as a side and wasn’t disappointed. The sandwich itself was beautiful with all the lettuce and tomato wrapped within the turkey itself. The bread was also light and fluffy. Because my eating partner is a real sweets lover we finished the meal off with a slice of carrot cake that was perfect! $ 27 for two sandwiches, coffee, slice of cake… not too bad. The food came out quickly and our server was a doll.

TooJay’s is a NY Jewish Deli — Diner type chain which I find to be consistently good for a chain while offering nice portions and a great value for lunch. They offer a variety of soups including daily Matzah Ball soup and French onion, on my last lunch visit they also offered a beef vegetable and tomato dill soups as the soups of the day. Their menu is large, mostly consisting of salads, sandwiches and comfort food, you have the staples like Reubens, Nova, beef brisket, Pastrami, Corn Beef, Rye, pickles and cabbage of course! The menu is pretty diverse, I had a turkey avocado sandwich served with a side of fruit which was delicious. Portions are large and the food quality is very good. They offer soup and sandwich and soup and salad specials, sandwiches are served with a side, you can opt from a selection of coleslaw or fruit if you want to be on the healthy side. The restaurant is pretty busy and the clientele tends to be older, service is usually efficient but they are rushing and running around so they tend to be short. During peak times there is a wait but the line moves fairly quickly so if you are planning on going say for lunch try to get there early by say 12:15pm. Another highlight of this restaurant are their desserts and pastries, they have a large display at the front with the many cakes they serve as well as fresh cookies and pastries, they are freshly made and very good.
