I’m a vegetarian, so I’m writing this based on my meat-eating friends’ opinions and the service! We went for a late lunch and were served by a team of three servers. The service was impeccable. The salad bar is okay. Pretty average. My friends enjoyed their meat but didn’t seem too thrilled. I also really wish they had more vegetarian options – like at least the option of a veggie patty on the burgers, which all looked so good. Anyway, cute place and great service, just not amazing.

Brought 3 teens and had a great meal. My filet mignon was done perfectly and reasonably priced at $ 29 including salad bar. The teens had soup, and salad so they slowed during the entrée, but liked their food so much they ate and ate. The bill was$ 100 which was reasonable for four people Service was pleasant and timely for a Saturday night. I’ll go back anytime!

The Butcher Block used to be THE place to go for great steak and seafood. Around 3 years ago they changed the menu and it has gone downhill from there. Steaks are less than good. I have had better at a sub shop! Seafood is rubber and not good. The banquet hall is not bad but still has that lack of commitment to it. I used to look at the Butcher Block as a premier place to have a 5 star meal in Plattsburgh. Now it’s just another place to eat the if you have no place else to go.

Never been before, very nice atmosphere and salad bar was great! Main entrée was a stuffed haddock which was awesome. Except for losing my waiter at the end, it was a great meal.

We love butcher block! The soup and salad bar is bomb. I could eat that alone as a meal. We got baby back ribs and they were to die for. We ate going to be coming back for entrée plus 2 sides deal for $ 10 that they do sun-fri 4 – 5:30 pm.

Food was good, solid seafood for Plattsburgh, NY. However, service was a little rough. We actually had two waitresses and for the most part neither stopped by consistently. Not a lot of great options in Plattsburgh so this is probably better than most.

Had the pleasure of dining at the Butcher Block for mother’s day — what a great experience ! We made a reservation in the bar area. Jay and Maryanne were fantastic and very attentive. Mothers received a small glass of complimentary Champagne with fresh strawberries. They brought the kids ginger ale with fresh strawberries so everyone felt included. Salad bar was fresh and bread was warm. Food was excellent. At the end of the dining experience we all received a carnation and coupon for a future visit. The Butcher Block went above and beyond making for a memorable mothers day.

Stopped by here on the way back south from Canada. Wasn’t that hungry but I was surprised they had escargot on the appetizer menu. It tasted great with lots of garlic just the way I like it. My friends ordered steaks and it was well prepared. Definitely a family restaurant. Then vibe is very welcoming. Stop by if you are in the area.

It’s not all that common that a restaurant can get it ALL right, but the Butcher Block manages to do just that. First, the Adirondack interior and décor is rustic and authentic, as well as warm and cozy. The service is top notch, Kate was professional, pleasant and attentive. Next, the food was outstanding! I came for a steak and was treated to a tender, perfectly cooked, ribeye. I ordered the petite selection, but the steak took up much of the plate– a very generous«petite.» It was served with a fresh baked potato and crisp green beans. My favorite part of this wonderful experience was the homemade turkey florentine soup from the soup and salad bar. All I can say is «Wow.» I’m told the soups are all homemade and prepared fresh. It was phenomenal, and I rate the salad bar as a solid«A.» Finally, the restaurant has a nice wine selection and you can order«Unparallelled» Cabernet by the glass. A nice wine for eight bucks to go with a good steak. I would definitely come back.

Excellent deal on soup and salad bar. Great service, friendly and dilligent. Usually not too packed weekday lunches make for an excellent date. The homemade bread and croutons could satisfy me all day. I would always recommend if coming to Plattsburgh, it’s right off I-87

Service was great. Staff does a great job. The food is ok. They are big into their own sauces on everything. I had ribs. Very very vinegary. Salad bar is good. Pricey for the taste.

We had 60 people(college hockey team and families) in our group at Butcher Block on a Saturday night — the servers and staff deserve kudos for the excellent service! Our family enjoyed bubbly shrimp and oysters for appetizers. The shrimp was delicious — garlic, butter, and melted cheese. hard to beat that. Our entrees included crab legs, porterhouse steak, and salmon. All were very good. If in a Plattsburgh, this is a great option for dinner.

Ok from out of town, wanted a steak and a Unilocal review said this place was good! Mine was great! The most flavor able rib eye East of Chicago! Baked Potato was outstanding! Good pour from the bar keep and Gwen my waitress was delightful!

Whoa, whoa, whoa Butcher Block. Although this restaurant is large, it’s so rustic that it feels much more intimate. It’s going for the hunting lodge type vibe. Did I mention the salad bar? Hence why we went since I love me a good salad bar. We sat at the bar area that was filled with French speakers since we’re so close to the Quebec border; what a great Valentine’s Day surprise. As a s salad bar connoisseur, not gonna lie, it’s not the best I’ve seen. Although there were at least 5 – 6 different type of deli style salads from potato to pasta to broccoli, great homemade bread and a nice vat of soup, the rest of the bar was a bit shabby. More veggies please! The breakdown works out like this: $ 10 for salad bar or every entrée comes with a salad bar. I opted for the shrimp scampi for $ 16. That is a crap load of food for a good price. The shrimp scampi was mediocre at best. The man ordered the French onion soup which wasn’t up to par at all. That good deal doesn’t sound as good, it’s true. The highlight? The butcher block with a big olé hunk of cheddar cheese that you can slice off and grab some crackers, free! Prices are super reasonable, the setting is warm & rustic and totally makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere in upstate NY near the Canadian border, totally I. A good way. Not sure the competitive restaurant landscape in Plattsburgh, NY, but this ain’t a bad pit stop!

I found this place to be very chill and with a cool décor. The booth in which we sat in was inside a brick structure and it was just fun to be at a different place that was not trying to be modern but rustic. The food was good and the bread was especially good. I got the Chicken Philly and it was very flavorful and a big portion so come hungry. We came here for lunch and we got the salad/soup bar as part of our meal. I made a salad and they had all kinds of toppings and items so I enjoyed it because it was well stocked and everything looked fresh. The last part of the salad bar was the bread section and they had this amazing wheat honey bread that was to die for so I had plenty of that. Our server was very nice and helped us out with the menu, which was great.

What’s not to love about Butcher Block? Look, this place is exactly what it is, and nothing more. Yah, the center room is dark, but that’s nice when you’re sitting at a bar. The service is genuine. Sometimes people forget things, but when they apologize and have a great attitude about it, I will let it slide. Don’t any of you talk nasty about my salad bar. For whatever reason, I just LOVE that salad bar. It’s not THAT big, or THAT diverse, but boy, it draws a crowd. Food — good. Price — good. Salad Bar — gooood. Don’t go expecting gourmet cuisine or 5-star service. Go for fun and good food. Just go.

I’ve been to this establishment a few times and I like the food and the service. My family enjoyed it too. One of the times I had the escargots and it was alright, I did not expect them to already be de-shelled, that’s part of the fun of eating snails, pulling them out of their homes and devouring the goodness that lurks with in. I’ve gotten the whiskey chicken, and that was alright. The main thing this place has is the soup and salad bar, which is pretty good and you can get it whenever as long as you order an entrée. My friend ordered the steaks and his mom from down state even insisted on being brought back some rib tips because they are so good.
