I was very skeptical about Texas Roadhouse being just another chain restaurant with mediocre yet consistent food. I didn’t go in until about six months after they opened. Since then, I have eaten there at least a dozen times. Each time the food and staff have been great. Short of going to a high end steakhouse, you cannot get a better steak that is cooked the way you want it. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. My wife and I usually get the top sirloin. In my opinion it is a great value and is always tender and flavorful. I’m not sure what they use as a seasoning, but it is just enough to enhance the flavor of the beef without making the beef taste like ‘seasoned salt’. It is also a favorite of a friend of ours, who is butcher and knows a good cut of meat. My other choice is the ‘Roadkill’, a 10 oz. burger with grilled onions, mushrooms and cheese without the bun. One word of warning, don’t order it well done. It will be dry. I usually order my beef medium rare, but ground beef I usually order medium. On one occasion, they overcooked my burger to almost well done. It was dry because the beef is very lean. I told the waiter. They quickly cooked another one, but made the mistake of cutting into it to check the doneness. All of the juice ended up on the plate. I showed the waiter that it was just as bad as the first one. He took it back to get another. The manager brought this one out. It was a perfect medium and very juicy. Since it had taken a couple of attempts to resolve, the manager deducted the price of my meal from the check. He realized they made a mistake, but made it right. Since then I have been back several times and ordered the ‘Roadkill’ with no problems. We have also tried chicken fried steak, pork chops and ribs. They were all very good, but the steak is the best.

Really love this place. The food is always really good, and man, those steaks are amazing. Try and take advantage of their specials(early dine, etc) because they make it even more affordable. The staff is really friendly, but sometimes I honestly wonder how well they’re treated(probably not great… high turnover!!). Regardless, they’re never rude or rush-y. I like their steaks, the Country Fried Chicken, ribs, fried onion, and roasted chicken. Yum. Recommended!

This place is amazing for a chain restaurant! The steaks are always perfect and the sides are made in house. If you haven’t been, I strongly recommend it. The ribs are awesome and the chicken is the juiciest I have ever had!

I ordered the half rack. Most places say theirs fall of the bone, normally they are wrong. This place has killer ribs that really fall of the bone. My server was Lydia, at the bar, and she rocked it. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Plattsburgh.

We had so much fun! Do they realize it’s only Monday night?! Husband & I sat at the bar. COURTNEY was fantastic, Lydia too! They make a point of learning your name. There was line dancing and YeeHawing all around! The food was decent. Two of our sides, the sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes were awesome! My Margaritas with the $ 2 Patron kicker couldn’t have been tastier. Plan to go back sooner rather than later, thanks Courtney!

The service was excellent. Friendly and professional staff. We were given a bag of peanuts for being first timers and a gift card for our next visit. However the food was not as good as their service. The ribs were dry and the Ceaser dressing was bland. The bread was tasty but undercooked. Very disappointed as I was really looking forward to a good meal. 99 is nearby and I’ve been there before and chose Texas instead. My mistake.

This chain has sure value for steak and appetizers. I tried both the blossom(deep-fried onion) and rattlesnake bites. They were both very good and easy to share. The blossom is huge… For steak I would go with the cheaper USDA Prime Sirloin cut which is more lean and cooked-to-order than their ribeye. Any of the 6oz/8oz/11oz/16oz sizes come with two sides and are great bang for the buck. Medium-rare executed perfectly, pink in the middle and thin outer layer of cooked meat. Although there were some good smoking aroma, it was on the very salty side — I’m not sure whether it was the seasoning or the mushrooms and onions added on top. Very good beefy aftertaste. Sides aren’t all«legendary» as TR claims(browse people’s photos to see what they are). I’ve tasted the ribs and chicken as well — they were heavy on BBQ sauce and maybe a little above average from what you’d expect from a chain smokehouse. Go there for the big lean steaks!

I’ve been here a handful of times since my last review was posted — and wanted to mention that we had an issue with overcooked steaks at one point but after contacting customer service, Matt Kelsey, one of the managing partners for this location personally contacted me offering 2 free meals on the house. The food is excellent and the service is even better! So if you have a problem, don’t hesitate to ask to speak to someone, they’ll make it worth your time and money. Now this is one of my favorite restaurants.

Atmosphere is cool, good service, but the food… I started with a ‘skinny lime’ margarita which tasted like fountain drinks, overloaded with citric acid. For appetizer, I had a cactus blossom. It was nicely fried and seasoned but the ‘Cajun horseradish’ sauce only tasted horseradish. As for the main course, I had pulled pork and ribs. The pulled pork was dry… except for the fatty parts. And I’m pretty sure it’s not a Texan recipe, because I couldn’t taste black pepper at all. The ‘award winning’ ribs were a bit burnt, and it wasn’t ‘fall off the bone’ tender. For sides, I had the chili and steak fries. The chili was nothing special, but a bit too watery. The steak fries had a tasty spice mix, but were overly salty.

Went last night before the SUNYAC men’s hockey finals. Our group was over 25 people, so we’d called ahead well in advance and they made sure they’d not only have tables for us, but they offered everyone 10% off their food portion of their bill. When we arrived, they greeted us warmly and sat us at numerous tables. Service was excellent and fast. Although a chain restaurant, they hand carve the steaks in house and everything is cooked per order: you can even get your steaks cooked to only rare-that’s how much faith they have in the quality of their meat. They’re right. I’ve eaten at Ruth’s Chris as well as other upscale steak houses and the steaks at Texas Roadhouse are as good if not better with prices well within reach of most families. I ordered the 8-ounce sirloin medium rare with Caesar salad and loaded baked potato. The steak was one of the most tender and juicy I’ve had in a very long time. The potato was almost the size of both my fists; it was huge. The manager came over to ensure we had enjoyed our meal and wanted to make sure we didn’t need anything else. Although he was a fan of our biggest rival(the home team), he was most gracious in wishing us a great game. Great meal, service and atmosphere. Well worth the price.

Awsome food and awsome service! We never leave there dissatisfied and we always leave full and actually end up bringing some food home because we can’t eat everything. Great value for the price and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I would recommend calling ahead to reserve a seat however especially on the weekends or holidays because they’re always packed. The loaded sweet potatoes are the absolute best aside from the steak. Bringing Texas Roadhouse to Plattsburgh is one of the best decisions ever!
