I came in from out of town and was looking for a place that delivered, because after a 4-hour drive, I wanted to be lazy and embrace my inner fat child. So, I saw that Dickey’s delivered and decided I’d give it a shot. Unfortunately, after I placed my order, the girl at the restaurant was nice enough to call to let me know that they don’t, in fact, deliver. Inconvenient, but no big deal since it was only a 4 minute drive from my hotel. While I will admit that I probably did not order any staples for which this place is known for, I will still say that I wasn’t overly impressed with the food. The garden salad was just a bunch of lettuce and croutons, and the only dressings available were Caesar or Ranch, neither of which I am too keen on, and what was not noted on the online ordering or website. Regardless, I have never had a Garden Salad with just lettuce and croutons. No onions, tomatoes or anything else, though she did ask if I wanted cheese. The Waffle Fries were fresh, but they were bland and without any seasoning, so unless you like that or are okay with dipping in the sauces or get ketchup, it wasn’t much to get excited about. The Jalapeño Beans were simply Baked Beans with chopped up pieces of Jalapeños. Though, I kid you not, I found one small chopped sliver of a Jalapeño in mine. Disappointing and barely touched. I got the small Sandwich(I can’t recall what they call it), with Chicken and Jalapeños, and while it wasn’t anything I’ll dream about, it was the best part of the meal. The BBQ sauce was quite good, but coming from the origin city of Dinosaur BBQ, I hold my BBQ to a very high standard. More like a 2 – 2.5 for me for my first experience, but it wasn’t «horrible»…just«okay»…and, again, I know what I ordered probably doesn’t do the place justice. Would I go here again? If I had a hankering for more of their staple BBQ items, perhaps I would give it a second go around if I was in the area again, as I have a feeling their BBQ staples might be more promising.

Great food and a reasonable price I also like that you get free pickles and ice cream. The staff are very friendly and you never have to wait in line too long.

Friendly staff and good bbq. Only reason for 4 stars is they are sometimes out of what I order. But other then that it is always well cooked and great tasting food.

So Good! As far as quick service chains go, this place is a little pricey.(roughly $ 12 for a sandwich, side, and a drink) There are perks however. They have a punch card program which gives you occasional free drinks and sandwiches if you’re a regular. They also offer free ice cream. That’s right, FREE ice cream!

My wife and I have been here a few times before but it appears to be under new management. The service wasn’t very good. We both ordered the brisket dinner and weren’t asked if we wanted it chopped or not. We both prefer it not chopped. When I asked not to she continued to chop the one dinner and I asked her not to chop the second. I figured I can live with it so as not to waste it. Then we asked for our sides in which our favorite is the mashed potato casserole. She told us that they were out and it would be another 10 – 15 minutes if we wanted to wait. We decided yet again to settle for something different. We then paid and went to the service bar to get our drink, cutlery, BBQ sauce and pickles. What? No more pickles? When we asked what happened to the pickles we were told that the health dept. put a stop to it. Maybe so but other restaurants have pickles and peppers out. You just need some sort of cooling method. What do you a salad bar is? Well anyway, a young person who appeared to be the manager did get us a pickle to share. Thanks for that. Then we went to eat at a table that had a TV next to it. It was kind of strange that the cartoon network was on but oh well. The meat of this review is that between our disappointing service and the lack of having the side we wanted in the middle of the dinner hour, the brisket was overcooked and dry. Not even the BBQ sauce could save it and the Caesar salad was dry as well due to the lack of dressing. It seems to me that Dickey’s has decided to cut costs and let go the quality a bit. Hopefully the manager will see this review and decide to take a look at these issues. We will probably go back again but our return after that depends on our next experience. The two stars are for the roll which was hot and fresh and the effort the young man made by getting us the pickle.

This place is cheap, but this is the only positive thing I can say about it. How can they make such a fat meat taste so dry?!? That’s maybe why they put tons of sauce on it(average taste, and way too sweet). Moreover, the children menu is very greedy. My daughter had ONE rib in her meat plate. All the beverages are very sweet, they don’t even offer a real juice. So, unhealty, taste bad, perfect place to ruin your healt without getting pleasure out of it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to a Dickie’s BBQ. The manager on duty was super friendly and made sure everyone was well taken care of. The price is great. The food was excellent. My husband had pulled pork(SO good!) and the brisket(oh my!) and I had the brisket sandwich.(Really good!). We will definitely be back. My sweet husband is always willing to take me to Plattsburgh for a Target fix, and now I know a place he likes to eat in the area — it’s a win, win situation!

Very good BBQ. The people working here are always very friendly. I highly recommend the puller pork with coleslaw and pickles on top– trust me. My only complaint is everything is extremely salty here– especially the sides.

A great food stop on the way up to Canada A lot of food for your money here. Pretty good BBQ but I found that I definitely needed more BBQ sauce because the meat isn’t extremely moist. The sides here are excellent. Great mac and cheese and fried onions. I’ve stopped here twice while driving up to Montréal and I would definitely do it again. Make sure to get some free ice cream while you are here. It’s only vanilla but it’s very good… and you can’t beat free.

Shocked(in a good way) by the greeting at this restaurant; staff were super friendly and went through the entire menu as if we were at a high-end place. Food was less than impressive. I had the ribs and they were so salty I couldn’t finish them. Macaroni and mashed potatoes were alright. Overall: a decent place to eat if you’re looking for atmosphere on a budget.

Great value. This is a chain as others have said but the bar-b-q is done up right. Does not taste like fast food at all. You order it like fast food but they bring it to your table. Free pickles and ice cream cones as well. I hope we get some of these in Michigan.

We used to drive all the way to Lake George to enjoy Dickey’s. I’m so happy to find it in Plattsburgh. BBQ pork is always my Favorite and my kids love the macaroni and cheese.

Delicious pulled pork, tasty sides, friendly staff, clean yet, appropriately rustic dining area, plus free ice cream, pickles, and big yellow cups! Definitely worthwhile.

I love good BBQ! And for a very reasonable price, you can have a great dinner here! The chopped brisket is excellent and if you like sausage and are not scared off by your cholestrol numbers, I also recommend the polish sausage! Many nice choices for sides! The management and help are super nice as well!

It’s a fast food chain. Supposedly they smoke the meat on site, but there’s no pit, no smell of wood smoke, no smoke flavor in the meat, and there are two industrial looking stainless steel ovens behind the counter. The BBQ meat is wrapped in plastic and stored in a warming oven all day. What it isn’t: a sit-down smokey pit-style BBQ joint. The regular sauce was too one dimensional and sweet for me, so I didn’t even bother with the«sweet» sauce. What it is: a better alternative to McDonald’s or Burger King. The meat was tender, but lacking any bark or rich beefy smokey flavor. The rolls were fresh and toasted. The music was better than generic pop-country. The coleslaw is probably the best chain coleslaw I’ve had. And I liked the pickles. I had no idea what it was until I went in & immediately realized it was fast food chain. I’d probably go back if it’s the only place to get something resembling BBQ, but don’t go expecting something authentic with complex flavors and textures.

Drove down from Montréal and had lunch at Dickey’s. Man, was I delighted. My hubby had The Western, which is the choice of 2 meats in a sandwich. He had a double serving of the brisket. It was so moist and tender and their sauce is the perfect touch. I had the pulled pork with a side of BBQ beans. It was one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I’ve ever had & the beans tasted nice and fresh. I am truly hoping this place stays open despite their location. It’s located in a little strip mall across the Champlain mall, I’m afraid people don’t see it and look elsewhere to eat. I know Texas Roadhouse opened and has been a great success and I do love their ribs and burgers, but for a good pulled pork sandwich, Go to Dickey’s. The servers at the counter were so sweet as well, letting us try the meats before ordering and recommending the sides. They were friendly and helpful. You all should go and try it out, you won’t regret it:)
