Always the best and super cheap. The pot stickers have thick skin. The sweet and sour chicken is awesome. The szechuan beef is my hands down fav! It’s thick spicy sauce and pairs great with their rice. The chow mein has the overly thick noodles which we all love as well. Can’t go wrong with this place. We can feed 4 adults for $ 38!

I’m not a big fan of chinese food but my family is. With that said though this is one restaurant that I must say is DELICIOUS… The food is always fresh tasting, and full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and the price is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

The food was excellent from Chef Choy! We got the house special wonton soup, cashew chicken and chicken soft noodle and they were all delicious. It was a to go order that we placed once we arrived and they were very efficient and quick with getting our order ready. The staff was very nice and helpful when we were trying to figure out what to order and overall the food quality was good. The only downside was that it was a little expensive for what we ordered but it was good as far as everything else is concerned. We’d definitely consider going back!

Came for lunch and we were in luck because we came during the lunch special hours. It was $ 7.25 per person for an entrée, a choice of fried rice or steamed white rice, a fried wonton, an eggroll, and the soup of the day which is always hot and sour. We ordered the almond chicken, sweet and sour pork, and general tso tofu. The consistency of all of the food was very odd. Everything was very goopy and thick and hand a gelatinous texture. The flavors of the food were great, but it was hard to get over the consistency. They were very accommodating for vegan requests and didn’t charge extra to substitute the chicken to tofu. Overall, the service was okay. The server hovered a little too much which made us feel awkward, and the bathrooms were super clean, which was great.

My cousin and I went out for lunch one day at the mall and we’re craving chinese. found this little place tucked away near CJ Saloon. I’ve tried the walnut prawns, general tsao chicken and war won ton soup. I must say they were all delicious. The war won ton soup is to die for. the broth is a winner in itself. The veggies and shrimp are fresh. I just went back tonight to get me some war won ton soup. the best cure for a cold/flu. Thank u for the great food and awesome service.

My first visit to Chef Choy was a magical one — a bonding experience that united strangers, inspired smiles, and filled tummies with noodles and happiness! Picture it: Chef Choy, Pleasant Hill, California. A restaurant you’ve driven past a trillion times but may have never noticed because of their tucked away location(pretend Lamps Plus has a Chinese restaurant in the back, and you’re there). Thanks to trusty Unilocal and those 4 beautiful stars, a fellow lover of all cuisine Chinese joined me for dinner. She trusted my lead — for me, the barometer of trying a new Chinese joint is ordering their chow mein and their potstickers. If you can’t successfully navigate that entrée and app, probably best to drive right on by. I was seated first, and waiting for my friend to arrive I perused the menu for those items — when suddenly at a nearby table, the most GLORIOUS plate of chow mein I’d seen in decades was set down for those patrons to feast on. I had to have it, there was no question! I waved that server over to inquire, WHATISTHAT? Those other diners heard me ask and started to laugh, and told me they had done the same thing! They spotted fellow diners who had the same chow mein delivered to their table, and immediately followed suit. Here in a little unassuming Chinese joint, I joined a chain of folks all paying it forward in the name of tasty noodles. And that chow mein is what keeps me coming back for more! So here I am, paying it forward to you: order the chow mein with skinny noodles. Yeah it sounds a little weird and I felt funny asking for it too, but that’s what that original server told me to request, and it hasn’t failed me on any return visit. Either in person or on the phone, specifically request the skinny noodles, and they will know exactly what you mean. Please join the club, and you’re welcome. ;) Other great items are their potstickers(on point!) and egg rolls, and their General’s Chicken can’t be beat. It’s bright red and gorgeous, but not too spicy. It’s sweet and understated, and I do recommend eating it all on the first round as their sweeter sauces don’t hold up well with time(texture goes a little funny), but top that chicken on some steamed rice and enjoy! I also enjoyed their sesame chicken. Despite what others have mentioned though, their mu shu pork is unimpressive — not recommended. The noodle struggle is real, and sometimes you just need some KILLER chow mein in your face. When that urge hits, I’ll see you at Chef Choy. Skinny Noodles For Life!

Great Chinese food in Pleasant Hill! Everyone I know at work who’s eaten here loves it and I now love it too. My fav dish is the BBQ Pork Chow Mein, but it is THEBEST when you get Egg Noodles instead of what it comes with, the regular noodles are way too thick imo. Only downside is it’s kinda pricey and you don’t get anything with this meal, close to 10 $ so I get it to go. The portions are very generous though, so that helps with the price. You gotta try this place at least once!

Good atmosphere. I’ve only been to a few Chinese restaurants with really good Chinese food and this is one of them. So far, every dish I’ve tried so far has been excellent and better than most I’ve had.

The Chinese food here was so good, we did not want to leave. We ordered the walnut prawns according to previous Unilocal suggestions, and it did not disappoint; there was enough for two more people! The meaty(chicken, beef, and egg) fried rice was huge and amazing, and the egg drop soup was filling enough that we did not know if we would be able to eat any of the main course.

The food here is pretty good, I was shopping nearby & decided to stop in & see how it was since the reviews were good. I just walked in, looked at a menu & ordered, it took about 10min for my food to come out, I only ordered egg rolls & veggie fried rice, I can’t eat that much & didn’t wanna order more than I could finish. But I turns out I couldn’t even finish my 2 items anyway. The fried rice was good, lots of veggies & egg, and the egg rolls were fresh & crunchy! The total for those 2 items came out to be $ 13.60, I wouldn’t call it a deal, but it’s about average like other Chinese restaurants. I’d definitely come back again, the lady at the counter was really nice & the food came out quickly, the place was really busy & I thought it would take a lot longer, but they’re really on point with the take out orders!

Finding a good Chinese food restaurant is a must when moving to a new city so we decided to try out this one. I had the asparagus with chicken and it was amazing! The vegetables were fresh and flavorful and the chicken was cooked to perfection. My family had the Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and cashew chicken which they all enjoyed. Also noteworthy is the fact that the staffer was able to help me determine which entrees would be appropriate with my gluten allergy. He confirmed that the sauces were not made with flour and then asked for my entrée to be made without soy sauce. He was really helpful and most important is I didn’t get sick! This is definitely a restaurant we’ll keep going to.

This review is coming from a man who’s answer to the question«How does Chinese sound for dinner?» is usually«Ehhhhh… not tonight.» That being said, this place is freaking amazing. My new answer to the previous question is now«Sounds great, as long as we order from Chef Choy.» The chow mein is the biggest thing that has me hooked so hard. We specifically ask that it be made with skinny noodles instead of the typical thicker ones. Easier to eat and in my opinion, a mouth full of smaller noodles is easier to swallow down then a mouth full of thicker ones. The meat and vegetables are fresh and a plenty. I never thought I would say it but here, the chow mein is my favorite item. Another must have at Chef Choy’s is the General Tsao’s chicken. Even for a person who loves spicy, this is pretty spicy spicy. Crispy chicken that’s been drenched in a red spicy sauce and cooked to perfection. The flavor on the chicken is great. The sauce drowning it in is amazing. If you want to cut down on the spiciness a tad, eat the chicken with steamed white rice. You’ll get a nice balance of cool and hot. Besides the two main dishes we always get, Iv’e also tasted their paper wrapped chicken, fried wonton’s, and garlic chicken. The paper wrapped chicken is something I haven’t had a lot of in my life, and after having it last night, I’m trying to figure out why. Small folded foil packets, filled with a small but absolutely tasty portion of chicken. The only problem with these little packages of joy is that there is never enough. The garlic chicken was good. As always the chicken was delicious, and the sauce was amazing. I’m not a fan of water chestnuts, but when you drown them out with garlicky, saucy bites of chicken, it makes it much more manageable. The fried wonton’s were honestly not as good as I was hoping. Filled with Krab meat and cream cheese as usual, something about these just seemed off. The flavor was a little too tart. Almost tasting sour. The pickup time for calling is has always been 15 minutes. Which means, I could place the order and immediately head out and have my food ready by the time I get there. The time may seem fast, but the food is always fresh. The service both inside and on the phone is amazing. With at least six other Chinese food places in a five mile radius of my home, Chef Choy stands out as being the best.

I am taking a class in Concord for a week and had a hankering for Chinese so I saw this place as one of my top three based on the reviews. It was a little hidden inside a strip mall next to Lamps Plus. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and portioned. The food came it fast and nicely presented. I ordered Mongolian Beef with fried rice from the lunch menu and it came with soup when you eat in. It also came with a fried wonton and egg roll. The fried rice and meat looked and tasted fresh.

Well, they still serve some decent food. I have been coming to Chef Choy off an on for years now, and the food always seems to be consistently good. We came here on a whim one rainy day, while out doing some shopping. It had been several years since my last visit, so I was curious to drop in again. We arrived around 11:30 ish. The place has been here for well over 10 years or so(I believe) and has not changed at all. The restaurant it self, is quite spacious, providing plenty of seating; including some more large tables to accommodate larger party’s. It is open seating, so we got a nice booth table(the one I usually sit at). The service was attentive, though not very personable. Our water glasses were continuously filled though. The menu provides your standard American Chinese food options, with most of them sounding appealing. We ordered from the lunch special menu which comes with the soup and an egg roll. Tea is also provided. For my lunch entrée, I chose the Chicken with hot garlic sauce. My honey chose the Broccoli Beef and the Chicken Chow Mein. Soup arrived fast. It was decent. Food then arrived shortly after looking quite delicious. My garlic chicken tasted fantastic, however, the garlic sauce was way to thick and almost left it a little unappetizing. I did take a few bites of the Chicken Chow Mein, and that was pretty tasty. Overall, not the best Chinese food, but certainly decent and worth a shot.

I was stuck in Concord at a car dealer for some me services. Three hour wait. I checked Unilocal and was able to walk to Chef Choy Restaurant. The reviews were correct. Well cooked good tasting God at fair prices. The plate was bigger than some restaurants That allowed the food to be presented nicely.

Such a great restaurant, everybody is so friendly and truly appreciative of the time and effort, we take to come and dine with them. The food, is sublime! HUGE portions! I am continually surprised by the true dining experience from such a seemingly neighborhood haunt. I will say and illustrate as I’ve traveled around the world, the best restaurants typically are always local, where the owners are passionate about their craft. I look forward to seeing them again very soon, BoomerNaut gives five thumbs up, and 5 stars. Cptn Dan
