Buffets are a hit and miss, much more often a miss than a hit. And King Buffet falls squarely in that«miss» bucket. There are several things that I did not like about my experiences here and it is hard to know where to begin. Maybe I will start off by noting that the vast majority of things we tried were either overcooked or over-seasoned(or both). Also, while there is a wide assortment of things relative to a typical Chinese buffet, they fall *far* *far* below what one would expect at any decent restaurant. Yes, there were«crab cakes» on the menu but I swear to God, that if you could find any chunks of crabmeat in those«crab cakes», you have a promising career as a detective at a forensic lab! Oh yes, there was sushi but if you took even one look at the wasabi, you would know that the pale green paste they had out there was anything but wasabi. I could go on and on about other aspects of the food too. As far as it comes to service, the restaurant falls short as well. We came in at around 10 p.m. on a Saturday but even though they are supposed to be open until 11 p.m., I found quite a few stations empty. I had to point that out to at least 3 employees before one of them offered help and decided to replenish some of the empty stations. Of course, conveying things is harder if employees don’t speak English which seemed to be the case with quite a few of them. Then again, even though they were supposed to be open until 11, they gave us our check at 10:45 and started clearing out the food at around 10:50. It’s also worth mentioning that I did not get any refills on my water. Lastly, as my picture of the restroom attests to, the trash bin was a mess but no one seemed to care. I even saw an employee who used the restroom and left, without bothering to bring the mess to anyone’s attention. I guess he just didn’t care. If all of this very mediocre food and indifferent service came with rock-bottom prices, somewhere in the neighborhood of say, $ 10 it may have been acceptable but prices here are higher at $ 14/person. Both my wife and I thought that was too high for the suburbs given what they were offering. If I have one suggestion for the restaurant, it would be that they can have fewer items on their menu but try doing a better job of cooking the items and not bringing standards down to the absolute lowest common denominator. And perhaps putting a bit of effort into the ambience of the restaurant — cleaning up the bathrooms as they get dirty over the night, keeping the ice cream station cleaner, preventing unruly kids from running amok, and maybe even teaching their staff basic English. But sadly if I could discern anything about the attitude of the management, it was — we couldn’t care less and we couldn’t be bothered. Unless I am out of my mind, this is the last time I have stepped foot inside King Buffet.

This is the place to be if you’re looking for a wide variety of food. The food is fresh and tasty, sushi and the shrimp was really good. Chicken and broccoli was flavorful the spices were just right. It’s $ 14.00 per person 7.99 for kids which I think is very good, the reason for the 4 star is that I wish the food was a lil hotter and I don’t like my food hot so you know when I’m saying it need to be hot not that warm. The service was ok to me is like they were just standing around watching tv.

OVERALL: We definitely left full, so for $ 14/person it is a great deal if you are in the mood to pig out. Service is okay, and the food is okay, but I wish it were hotter.(Which is the main reason for the 2 stars.) SERVICE: We know to expect poor service since it is a Chinese buffet, but it wasn’t that bad. Most of the time the staff seem to hangout and chat, but they are relatively quick with their drink refills and coming by to clear away your dirty plates. FOOD: There is a huge variety of typical Chinese-American food alongside more American-ish cuisine, lots of seafood, and other Asian-fare that you won’t find in a take out place. You will find your Chinese-American staples such as fried rice, Lo mein, General Tso’s Chicken(which is always bad at buffets so skip it), sweet and sour chicken(which is pretty good because I got them when they just came out), and Chinese style roasted pork(aka boneless ribs, that were also terrible). They have fried foods such as chicken wings and French fries, and I was surprised to find their plantains quite delicious. Basically, if you want typical Chinese-American food, order from a take out hole-in-the wall and not buffet. Other things at a buffet that I would never get are the sushi rolls and dim sum. Their selection for dim sum is pretty small, but a tried a meat bun but the bread was too hard. They had sliced sirloin tips too, cooked medium(red/pink in the middle), and they are really good. There’s a lot of seafood options. I did not dare try the raw oysters, but I had their clams, fried catfish(my favorite dish of the night, again because I got them when a fresh batch came out), shrimp cooked in numerous styles, crab cakes, and their snow crab legs — which aren’t even that good but people form a line to get them. Basically 1 – 3 people stand there waiting for the crab legs and they literally take all the crab legs when a new tray is brought out. Get them while you can(even though they aren’t even that good). The desserts are pretty typical such as ice cream, jello, etc. If you actually want to try an Asian desert, get the Longan(dragon eyes) fruit balls. They are white and sweet. They are in a container next to the pineapple. The only problem is that the food is not hot(which is why I’m giving it 2 stars). It kind of sits out there lukewarm. If you wait and keep an eye at the food area from your table, you can watch for when they bring fresh hot food out. That’s when you should pounce and when the food tastes the best. Here’s the dilemma — if you go during when it’s busy and they are more likely to bring out hot food more often, but there will be more competition for the same amount of food, especially those coveted snow crab legs!

Not the best buffet. You certainly get what you pay for. The roast was bloody. I had a slice and saw it was dripping with blood. I didn’t touch it. Nor did I touch the sushi not knowing how long it has been out. Just didn’t want to chance food poisoning. Their fruit was the only thing edible here. This place used to be good. I won’t be returning.

I really like this buffet, the only one I’ll actually eat! Prices aren’t bad at all… People fight and wait 30mins over the crab legs at dinner! Idk why people would want or eat seafood at a buffet to begin with but to each their own… I don’t recommend. Staff is pretty nice, kitchen staff seems overworked which is a bit sad, I seen an older lady carrying heavy trays out back to back with no assistance from younger employees :(

If I could give a half star rating, I would. I’m not a picky eater, but this buffet was truly gross. The food was barely edible– although some of the fruit(and I heard the ice cream) was ok to eat. At certain(stationary) points in the buffet– there was a strong urine odor. Most likely(and I hope this is the case because the alternative is scary) the staff was using dirty towels to wipe down the buffet stations. There were snow crab legs and lobster while we were there, but the lobster was being served out three pieces per person at a time by a designated lobster dictator(this is a buffet, right?). Just a thought, but perhaps they should remove the expensive items from the menu and focus on improving the other dishes. There was a huge staff for a chinese buffet but there was really no service at all. Granted, service is not a strong point of the overwhelming majority of chinese restaurants, but this was even less than normal. If you are looking for a warm meal, this is not the place for it. Most of the food(aside from the soup) was lukewarm at best. Definitely not worth the $ 17 a person.

If you’ve been following my reviews, I know I said in my last review of a buffet that it would be my last one, but alas, I couldn’t convince my family to pick a nicer buffet for the funeral(I know, I’m terrible) so here goes yet another review for another shitty Chinese buffet. I ate a few items here since I knew I’d feel sick afterwards and wanted to minimize it and being human, I had to eat something and not just skip too many meals(and it would’ve been rude to not eat all with so many guests there, etc.). Service was automatic. They cleared dishes away and filled our waters up. I feel for them though. Parking: Large mall parking though it can be filled quite quickly Price: $ 8+ Wait: None

I’m going to keep it real. We all know buffets can’t reach 5 star status, but for today I had to break the mold. We came in last Saturday around 6pm, tables were full, but we were seated very quickly. The food was hot, the salmon was perfect, the bathrooms were clean, the service was fast for plates and refills. If I were critical… yeah the general tso’s wasn’t meaty enough, but they got many things right. So because of that, I have to say they earned a five star rating. Fresh snow crab legs that my mother and father in law devoured. It was a great dining experience. I read the other reviews, the best time to come in, is on a weekend around dinner time. If you aren’t a crowd person, I get it you are not going to come in here during that time. Just beware you could be on the receiving in of a review that’s true to the time you come in. Sushi was good too, they even have hard boiled eggs at the salad bar.

Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten out. I realize Chinese buffets are not meant to be gourmet, but they should at least be edible. This place was not. Want to know how bad it was? My 8 year old son said afterwards, «Dad, that was really bad. I don’t want to return». For an 8 year old boy, who like all kids, loves buffets to say that says something. Also terrible are their prices. They are a few bucks higher than most buffets around. One more negative is that the tables are much closer together than most buffets. It felt really tight, and going on a Sunday night meant it felt really crowded. To top it off, when they bring you the bill they have a «suggested» tip amounts. 10%, 15%, and 20%. I know many restaurants do that, but to even suggest 20% for a Chinese buffet? Seriously? Total price(before tip) for one adult, an 11 year old, an 8 year old, and a 4 year old was $ 53.00. I didn’t look at the prices before hand, but figured it wouldn’t be that much. Charging a 4 year old basically ten bucks for a meal? A buffet meal? You’ve been warned Unilocalers, you’ve been warned!

Really well done buffet. Was in there area and always like trying out new Chinese buffets. I walked in and there was about 5 tables worth of different foods to choose from. The sushi at buffets are usually dried out and nasty not this one. Sushi was delicious. Everything I tried was great. Full off two plates. Only gripe I have was the price $ 17.00 for a Thursday night. Other than that I would recommend this place.

Went here with some friends for dinner. Good buffet, lots of choices. Always feel like I’m going to go into a food coma after… Need to not eat so much haha. Lots of seating, and staff is very attentive to refill drinks and take away trash. Seafood, sushi and lots of Chinese favorites. Ice cream machine and plenty of desserts. 4 people $ 70.00 for dinner.

This is the first time I ever felt compelled to write a review. This location is near my house so I have been here several times with my family and every time the experience was just average at best. Before the price was unbeatable but as it grew in popularity the quality went down and price went up. Tonight I came here with my family and two things happened. First, the guy bringing the clean dishes out dropped ALL of them on the floor. Some landed upright and some face down. He then picked up all the plates and continued to stack them for people to use. Secondly, I went to get my first plate of food and while I was eating I found a staple in my green beans. I was lucky it was towards the bottom because I feel like if I wasn’t paying attention I could have eaten it. When I complained, they explained that it was part of the box and they are sorry and wanted to offer a $ 5 discount. I told them that it outrageous and I am not eating and should not have to pay. He just looked at me like he didn’t understand and walked away. I’m hoping when we receive the check it’s taken care of. I made the amateur mistake and didn’t take a picture. Easy to say, I will never come back here, not just because of the food but because of the total lack of service and common sense.

Let me start by saying I used to love and recommend this place… Sadly, that has changed. I noticed lately that the service has gone a bit down hill… Rushed, dirty plates sitting for a long time, etc. the straw, or should I say straws, that broke the camels back happened within the last two weeks during two separate occasions. First, I ordered a diet soda last week and when it came it had an oily looking substance at the top, seemingly looked to be soap from a cup that wasn’t rinsed all the way. No biggie, things happen… I ordered another soda and it looked ok, started drinking it and at about a ¼ of the way down there was a used fortune out of somebody’s cookie that was stuck to the inside of the cup. At this point, I was pretty thoroughly grossed out– mentioned it to the waiter and he didn’t charge me for the soda. Today was the last straw. My husband went for lunch with coworkers and was eating a bowl of hot and sour soup… And low and behold… Scooped up some soup with a big old bug in the middle. He told the waiter and they did give him his meal for free… But this will be the last time we patronage this establishment– so sad because for a while they had a good thing going.

If you could find it… The address listed, by GPS, takes you to the main entrance of the mall. Go around mall till you see Dave and Busters. It’s two doors down. To me, it was above average for a Chinese buffet. Lots of sushi was present. They kept bring out the crab legs, which were good, For $ 15, the price is great for what they offer. I wouldn’t rave about it as some of the Unilocal reviews but it was above average. I’d probable go back but it would not be my first choice next time in area.

You may wonder why I would give a Chinese buffet restaurant 5 stars. Let’s put things into perspective! It was a Monday evening, I couldn’t believe the weekend was over, and I sure didn’t want to cook my own dinner. Then again, I did want to stuff my face for as little money as possible. Got the picture? It was the first time we came here and we were happy by the time we left. Warm soups, dimsum, all types of meat and fish, vegetables, salads, sushi, fried chicken and french fries, soft serve, cakes, cookies, jello… oh, and my fave: sesame balls! I’m probably forgetting about a whole lot of other foods but need I say more? Everything I ate was tasty and fresh. Staff was friendly and quick to take away empty plates, and for $ 14 per person you really have no right to complain.

My daughter and I dined here due to her love of Snow Crab Legs. Overall the experience was more than good but could have been better. She loved the crab legs and I enjoyed the sushi. A few items were obviously not fresh; spring rolls were soggy, the consistency of the dim sum and pot stickers aka fried dumplings was odd and I couldn’t finish these items. As stated previously the crab legs, sushi, and the honey bbq boneless spare ribs were the best. The staff was good and approached us quickly for our drink orders and cleared the table quickly.

It is not too fresh but I think for the price, they have many different kinds of food. I think it is good place to go when you don’t feel like cooking or you can’t decide what you want to eat. The servers clean your plate very fast, refill your drinks. The food may not be the best quality, but they are warm and delicious! You will be satisfied if you do not expect too much from a chinese buffet. It is just a chinese buffet.

Treated my niece to lunch today at King’s Buffet. Pretty crowded but not a problem maneuvering around buffet tables. Waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed upon our arrival and continued to serve us with a smile. Everything we ate was very good. Price was higher than I expected. It goes up on Saturday & Sunday. 2 orders of lunch · 2 cups of water · 1 cup of sprite came to $ 24.95. Around 3:30pm the staff was getting ready for the appearance of CRABLEGS because they were placing bowls and crackers on each table. Look forward to returning here!

Down a star because of the sushi rolls. Poorly made, falling apart and the nori peeling away from its contents. Wait service was crappy, although they hovered like you were going to steal the silverware. I will only come here for the cold seafood salad, although it’s made a little differently from the Easton Buffet and Ruby Buffet. Lacking scallops and imitation crab meat; spicier, too. The crispy chicken wings are good, too. Wish they’d improve their sushi. This place is a perfect meeting spot for my friend and I to get together for lunch!

King Buffet, what is there to say that already hasn’t been said. Wait staff is always monitoring, making sure you place is cleared once you go back for seconds. Seconds, thirds it doesn’t matter how many times you go up place is cleaned off with a beverage that has been refreshed. An Impressive selection to choose from, always fresh, hot and ready to be devoured. They keep up with the sushi also, it may not be a lot to choose from but it is always fresh, replacing the ones that have sat longer than 20 min. Dessert, who doesn’t like to be in control of that ice cream machine? What I would do is grab a soup bowl and just go all in, when I want more than a cone full. My only gripe is the menu prices are wrong on the Web page. It really wasn’t that much of an issue, but when I had showed the manager she thought I was raising hell. I wasn’t lol just pointed out to her that they have one price of $ 5.99 lunch, I thought I was getting a deal. It is 2 dollars more, but it’s OK I clearly ate more than 7.99 worth of food. Great for lunches, and dinners, which by the way they also have take out where you pay per pound. Service is on top of things with cleanliness and accommodations. In and out with out a hassle.
