I was devisistated to go to Captain Eds Saturday night to find out its closed and for sale. My husband and I would make a weekend trip from upstate NY with a dinner date the highlight. Hope all is well with the family.

I’d give less if I could. Called. Open til 10. Sign says 10 got there at 9. Drove 30 mins. Waitress said owner told her kitchen closed. Never ever again. Lost a customer.

Okay place with pretty good food. Fish is good but New England clam chowder was thin. I read other reviews about cranky service, but I didn’t experience this. Rustic inside is okay but old string lights need replace and they should either get satellite radio or tune the one that’s blaring. I would go back. No American Express and some price differences between menu and Internet.

I really want to like this place. Its a local, old school jersey shore steak and fish restaurant with a neat gimmick(the the option to have steak and fish cooked on a stone at your table). And the food is pretty good. The problem I have is that this one these places with cranky old servers that think they are doing you a favor to wait on you. It just ruins the experience. A shame because I want to support these types of places.
