I was very disappointed in this place other than the oysters. The coconut shrimp came out on a plate with three little shrimp that they butterflied to try to make it look bigger. For a cost of $ 12. The Burrada cheese plate had a nice piece of mozzarella but they only gave you 4 tiny toast points and three small pieces of salami for $ 15. And the kale salad was very small and wasn’t very good and that was $ 12. I don’t mind paying for anything just give me something decent. Needless to say I won’t be going back

With so many dining options these days spending a ton of money on a meal is something I try to avoid. And confirmation here at Shipwreck confirms why. All I have to say is $ 13 for coconut shrimp. But not just coconut shrimp. Three coconut shrimp. Hell of a way to start off a meal feeling ripped off. I was here 6 months earlier and had a mediocre surf and turf for $ 46. No value at Shipwreck. They just want your money.

The food and service is always great here! Full bar & wine selection. The sweet & sour calamari is great. Steaks and/or lobster are usually my go. The shrimp scampi entrée is also amazing! I wish they would add some new dessert options. Overall, this is a restaurant we find ourselves continually coming back too!

A CHRISTMASEVENIGHTMARE !!! I would give NO stars, but that was not an option This was the most unpleasant night of dinning I have ever experienced in my life and it ruined our Christmas Eve dinner, and NOONE at this restaurant really cared. We arrived for our 8pm reservation and weren’t seated till 20 minutes after 8, not uncommon, but after a long day of travel for our guests, we were expecting a nice flowing diner. Stupid us. Our waiter approached disheveled and the room was NOT overly busy. We ordered drinks and 2 apps and placed our dinner order, And we waited, and waited and waited. Aggravated by waiting, and watching other tables that were seated after us already eating their desserts, it was time to approach management. This is when I received the, 1st dumb and unacceptable answer, that I have heard from anyone in the restaurant industry . When I approached the manager about the time it was taking for us to be served, an hour at this point, and watching the other tables be served entrees, thru desserts, she informed me that all food was cooked to order… REALLY ??? I would hope that my food would be COOKED to order… WHAT ??? and to be patient? My patience ended after waiting an hour… sorry. Then when we were finally served dinner an hour and fifteen minutes later, we had to bring her back to our table to show her the raw steaks our guests were served. We showed her 2 steaks(ordered medium), that were served raw and rare. So that cooked to order theory went right out the window… what ??? She had no answer as to why the chef could NOT cook our cooked to order steaks to the ordered temp ??? She then said the 2nd dumbest answer I have ever heard, she said that since all the people at our table did not order apps, it threw the kitchen off… Really… what ??? Did she just say that … What ??? At this point this dinner was a joke and painful. The awful service, under cooked food and could care less management experience was the worst I have ever had. I would never wish that experience on anyone, so this is the reason I am writing this. TOWARNYOU !!! GO elsewhere. Go somewhere that you may have the opportunity to NOT be treated like an idiot in front of your family and out of town Christmas visitors, after raving about how awesome Shipwreck Grill is and how wonderful the evening will be… NOT

This place is DEFINITELY not what is used to be. No more lobster tank??? I used to loooove this place and I couldn’t wait to finally go back after years of not going for my Birthday celebration with my husband. Our server was fantastic(aside from going missing for extended periods of time) so it had nothing to do with that, however, no marinara or rice in the entire restaurant??? I have never heard of such a thing. The fried calamari was pretty good. My husband got the filet for dinner and it def could have used some type of reduction as the outside was completely dry(perfectly cooked though). Now to my lobster tail… tisk tisk! The crab stuffing was terrible and the tail was over cooked and rubbery. It also stated it came with«mixed vegetables» I guess what they meant was two baby carrots… the tiramisu dessert was their only saving grace. For as expensive as this place is the food is absolutely nothing to write home about. Acoustics were also terrible and the«pop» music blaring didn’t help. Definitely not how I remembered it. We are even«re-doing» my birthday dinner this Friday because of our experience here. We will not be back!

Great atmosphere… Can be for a date night or girls night. Food is delicious but small portions(fortunately I fill up quickly). They have outside seating which is great depending on the weather. Servers know the menu well & they take good care of you.

Someone recommended this place to us and we drove over an hour to come here for our anniversary. What a mistake! We got here 15 minutes before they opened and the hostess turned us away. When we sat back in our car, we watched as she let 3 groups go in only minutes after telling us they weren’t open yet. When we went back in, twelve minutes later, they gave us a hard time about not having reservations even though the place was completely empty and it was off season. We had one drink and ended up going over to Simko’s Bar & Grill, where we were treated like old friends. Skip this pretentious hole and go elsewhere. There was nothing here décor, ambience, staff or wine that called for being treated like that.

Just remembered why we don’t go here more often. Appetizers were great, service good. Drinks stupid expensive and relatively weak. Entrées just nasty. They must use select meats, it was seriously the toughest filet I have ever had, and others at the table agreed. Desserts were ok but nothing special. I guess we will see them again after we forget again why we don’t go here!

Steady… always good and friendly. Sit at the bar for a more casual feel. The full menu is available there as well.

How could you give this place anything less. Our local«nice» place. They really go the extra mile here to get it right, every, single, time. And if they don’t get it perfect for you they’ll own up and make it so. The food here is always prepared w care, their drinks made just right. Eating here every time it’s like they just opened yesterday.

After spending thousands of dollars over numerous dinners at the bar this past year, I brought in two colleagues who had traveled from Chicago and Denver for the weekend. As we left the house for the three minute drive to the restaurant, my husband told one of them how much she would enjoy the Porterhouse burger. We arrived and the only three open seats at the bar were directly in front of the band that was playing. Not only would we not have been able to hear a word spoken to each other… we would have blocked the view of a) the band members and b) the guests at the bar… as we would have been sitting within 3 feet of the instruments and vocalists. So, my colleague asked for a table and we were seated at the first row of tables behind the wine cabinet. An adorable and professional waitress introduced herself. We looked over the menus and asked about the burger, and she told us we could not be served the burger in the dining room. What? We had tried to sit at the bar and could not, due to the band’s location. We ordered the first round of drinks and decided upon our choices from the menu, although we really wanted what we wanted: drinks, appetizers and burgers. I communicated how ridiculous the policy is to the cute and efficient waitress again, acknowledging that she had nothing to do with the manager’s decision. Apparently she spoke to someone, because she came back and said that she had good news: we could order burgers if we wanted to move two tables over. Move two tables over, next to the window but still in the same dining room, 10 feet from where we were sitting? No thanks. At this point it was becoming comical, but not very funny. Who was making these ridiculous rules? We ordered a filet and a NY strip, two crab cocktails, a wedge salad and 6 drinks… for a bill of $ 192. We tipped more than 20%, as I wasn’t going to take it out on our waitress. But we left feeling that something was really missing at Shipwreck tonight: LOGIC. Either have a minimum per person in the dining room, so that a person who brings in a child is not allowed to order anything less than the price of the Porterhouse burger… or serve the daggone burger to regular customers who are the bread and butter of the restaurant throughout the year, when it is requested. So often rules represent mindless habits, rather than logically thought out responses to unique situations. It’s called management. Was the food good tonight? Yes. My crab cocktail was delicious and the NY strip was very well prepared. But I brought my friends to experience the Porterhouse burger, some apps and cocktails and having that freedom of choice taken from us was nonsensical and infuriating. Perhaps seats should be reserved in the dining room for bar patrons who can’t sit in the bar(and therefore cannot order from the bar menu) when a band is playing. The band is being paid… they are not paying to patronize the restaurant.

… mediocre fare… but beware they have a very expensive, extensive wine list(that they pride themselves on) and fancy wine cabinet however NOT climate controlled… be prepared to get your $ 100 dollar bottle of wine at 70 degree room temperature…

Absolutely everything about this experience was fantastic! We got there an hour before closing and they stayed open for us an hour after closing and were not trying to rush us out at all! We ordered every kind of raw oyster and clam that they had! DELICIOUS! The drinks were AMAZING! Steak was great and the lobster was INCREDIBLE! Would recommend this place to anyone, just a little hard to find but besides that it was totally worth it!

This was my go to restaurant from 2006 –2012 when I really wanted a nice meal and good ambiance. This past May I went there craving my favorite scallop dish and was appalled and shocked by the service and the food was just fair at best. A server never was appointed to my table, waited there over 45 minutes before getting drinks. Moved our table twice because of blowing AC vents, server was uninformed about the sides and preparation of dishes, «I am new she said». My favorite dish at the Jersey Shore was mediocre at best. For a high end expensive restaurant we had a laughable experience. I felt bad complaining but after I saw other tables becoming annoyed I knew it was not just me. The Jersey Shore usually takes a minute to get into the summer gear and then usually gets crushed on Memorial Day and I don’t blame them. I just hope the captain at Shipwreck Grill got the crew in line because my last experience there was a complete shipwreck. A shame.

The California Burger will make you believe you were right when you passed on the Filet Mignon; cause no filet could be as good as that burger… The Ferrari Chardonnay will remind why you used to like Chardonnay

We were a party of 6 every meal was exactly as it was on the menu portions were very good meat were done to perfection for us cocktails were slightly strong but we did step out of our comfort zone with those since we had a dd. I would DEFFANATLY recommend especially on a special occasion of date.

The Go To Spot, next time I’m in PP or Manasquan. The Shrimp Cocktail, $ 4pp, was absolutely phenomenal. Ordered 4 and wish i doubled it. They were the size of a steak and had amazing flavor. The cocktail sauce with FRESH horseradish was the icing on the cake. The Lump Crab meat was another jackpot and mixed with the horseradish was that of a top NYC steakhouse. For dinner, the seared Ahi Tuna was stunning and delicious. Only thing it needed was another 2−3oz in relation to the price. Wife had the Lingiuni with clams… What a hit that was. Absolutely delicious. Her Coconut shrimp as an appetizer was off the charts… Service was great. Easily an 8 or 9 out of 10. Only improvement: They need to get the espresso’s out faster or use a larger machine. 3 orders to the table, 1 was cold, 1 luke warm and the other was just short of being the proper temp. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return. Apps, Dinner, Dessert and Drinks: $ 159 plus tip.

Came here on a weekend once and couldn’t get a table, and last night(Monday) had a 20 minute wait for outdoor seating(45 for indoor). So I definitely suggest reservations if you want a quicker dinner, but no problem last night as my boyfriend and I sat at the bar while waiting to be seated outdoors! I enjoyed a delicious and refreshing Shipwreck Sangria made of white wine, mango rum, and fruits. Usually a beer girl, but couldn’t resist! My boyfriend and I were then seated outside in what actually seemed like less than 20 minutes, and it was beautiful on the patio. Our server was very nice and upbeat — which I loved(as were the hostesses). Started out with the Steamed Clams. They were in a delicious tomato fennel broth and topped with a delicious Black Olive Crostini. Also tried one Raspberry Point Oyster as a tip from a friend– great too! For dinner, I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. It was. DELICIOUS. I can’t think of any other words to describe this food. Definitely my cheat meal for the week, but extremely worth it. Also came with juicy, perfect scallops. My boyfriend ordered the 16oz Filet Mignon, but got an 8oz :(He enjoyed it a lot though! We also had a few beers — great beer list here! Overall great experience from the food to the staff to the venue!
