I used to always come to this place but the last 2 times were not particularly a good experience. The waitress dropped utensils on our food, then she brought out a burger for my brother. It had mold growing all over it. My brother could’ve gotten sick. When I told her she found it amusing and brought him mac and cheese which I was charged for but my brother did not eat it because he was already feeling sick from biting into a rotten burger. I’m never coming back to this place.

I visited this place a long time ago and didn’t particularly love the it but I decided I’d come back in and try it again. We were quickly seated. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to come over and right away I could tell we were in for a doozy. Big jersey accent and just a lively, young person. She took our drink orders but it was another 10 minutes for those to show up. Meanwhile she was cashing out two nearby tables and accidentally handed them back the incorrect credit cards/bills. Thankfully she charged them correctly. The two tables ended up sorting out the mess themselves. At one point she referred to my father and grandfather as «boys» not exactly the most respectful thing to say. After a longer than normal wait our food arrived. I had the lobster with clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops. Lobster was tasty but a bit over cooked. The dish is loaded up with at least 30 mussels which were soaked in a delicious sauce. Only a few clams, shrimp and scallops were served. Unfortunately I ordered the shrimp and scallops extra for $ 7 and it was definitely not worth it. I will say as bad as our server was, the bus boy was very helpful he promptly served us bread, refilled our bread and cleared my plates of shells as necessary. Finally we finish up our meals and our waitress came back to ask us if we’d like anything else. Of course we were ready to get out of here by then. It then takes her another 15 minutes to get the bill to our table. There is really no excuse for the service we had from this waitress. She was only waiting a few other tables and just seemed disorganized. I have reconfirmed my position on this restaurant and will not be returning.

So glad I didn’t listen to the bad reviews! Came here for lunch with my parents and so happy we did!!! Enjoyed a delicious lobster for one! Plenty of clams and muscles in a delicious broth! Their bread served warm is to die for. We also got a Neptuno wrap with grilled shrimp, light and fresh! Our server was wonderful — friendly and very attentive! Will be back!

Gilligans is one of my favorite places. The food is great, and the portions ar generous. When we go, we usually order the Lobster for Two or the Louis Lobster, both are excellent choices. Lastly, Gilligans is very affordable and two people can get a lobster dinner for under $ 50,

The atmosphere was so cool! Drinks were great as well as the food. Parking was tough, there’s valet parking, which unfortunately is your only option.

Every dining experience has been fantastic. Owners Vito and Abe go out of their way to make sure that your dining experience will bring you back again. The serving staff Tara and Lizzy certainly go out of their way to accommodate your needs. The food is always fresh and prepared for the discriminating palate. I normally have the wild salmon, and chef Fernando prepares it on the same level as any fine restaurant in Manhattan. The quality of the food is superb, and the prices are reasonable. For those of you in Rockland, I highly recommend Gilligan’s. For anyone traveling to Rockland, it will be an experience that you will highly enjoy.

We’ve been coming here since we moved here a few years ago. Usually the food is good and service is ok. But it seems to be going downhill our last visit. The salads were just a layer of lettuce with a ton of carrots on top of it, 1 tomato, and a few croutons. I ordered the snow crab with steak and the steak was great, but I got 3 pretty skimpy crab legs. The water tasted funky. Our waiter came across as more of a busboy who was forced to wait tables. Definitely wasn’t impressed this time.

The décor sort of Reminded me of a Joe’s Crab Shack. I was really excited to try this place but I was really let down. I wasn’t too impressed with the food and the waiter was so unfriendly and unhappy that it almost seemed like he was doing us a favor for bringing us the food. Not sure if we would come back or not. First impression was definitely not good.

Three stars… Lobster bisque, great! Even had a few small pieces in the bisque. 7.5÷10 Hot wings, not so good. Overcooked, dry and no sauce. 3.5÷10 Grilled calamari, ok. Very lightly sauced, somewhat bland even. Cooked ok. 5⁄10

My friends and I came without a reservation on a Friday night but they were able to squeeze us into a table after a short wait at the bar. I also love that they had valet service! For appetizers, we got the fried lobster mac and cheese, which were pretty good. The fried calamari was also very good. For my main meal, I got the clam bake, which came with a whole 1.25 lb lobster, crazy amounts of mussels, some clams, scallops, and shrimp. All for $ 25, not bad. The lobster was definitely worth it, a little on the done side but still good. The broth was really good. The mussels were so much that i ended up taking a lot home. For the meals, the prices were quite good! We didn’t even have space for dessert afterwards. The only downside is the service was a little lacking in that you had to ask 3 – 4 servers before you finally got what you asked for. Also, it’s just so loud in there. There were some really rude families with children just screaming out loud. The acoustics did not help in that sense. Though, can’t really blame the restaurant for crappy customers. I’d definitely return though.

Great place for take-out Tuesday. Order ahead or time! Can take 30 – 45 min. Service eat-in there is way too slow for me!

Such a fantastic find for anyone visiting this part of town up in the mountains. The seafood is fresh and delightful. The complimentary bread is to die for!!! Crisp crust and soft, spongy inside. I would go there for their bread! Soooo gooood! Highly recommend the shrimp platter and the crab cakes. 0 Stars for appearance & décor. It looks old and dated but hey I can overlook tacky décor if my belly is in a happy place. These guys know just how to keep me coming back for more.

Outstanding seafood, very fair prices. Clams and oysters were incredible, some of the best I’ve had in either Rockland or Westchester. Salad wasn’t probably the smartest additional order, didn’t have enough Caesar dressing for my liking. If that’s the only thing I have to nitpick about, it was a smashing success! Like how it’s casual and family friendly. Sat at the bar and Antonia was very courteous and professional.

What happened to this place!!! :/The food used to be awesome. It was the ONLY seafood restaurant around worth going to. Now it’s a toss-up between here or red lobster. Every time I go there it’s worse than the time before. I won’t be going back again.

I would give 5 stars if based solely on the oysters and oyster price. The place is a giant Pizza Joint, plastic plates, cheap napkins etc. the waitress poked my oysters with the oyster fork !!! WTF was that! Oh here … Poke and put it down. Your entrée comes with salad… Do you want it? How about sir what type of dressing would you like? I was the only person in the dining room. Another table was finishing up. 15 minutes after salad my fried entrée arrived. Obviously they use a frozen product. Catfish, shrimp and scallops with crappy fries. No flavor, none, Nada. I’ll go back for oysters, maybe mussels. No thanks on frozen fish. I know it’s a low budget joint but it was filling up as I was eating, I’ve been there before it gets very busy. Step it up before you go down.

I would expect to stumble onto a place like this on Cape Cod, not in Pomona, NY. I heard they have whole belly fried clams in season. I knew I had to get them, I can only go to New England so many times so I figured if they are good here, I can hold off on a trip for a bit. They were not good. The blackened sea scallops were damn good though, as was the buffalo calamari. Lesson learned– only get whole belly clams from CT, MA, RI, or ME. They apparantly need a new Englander’s touch.

We went past The Tap to do a few errands. And whad’ya know? We were in search of seafood. And the ONLY place we had in mind-was here! We’ve dined here in the past– with friends and other times with our daughter, and we enjoy every time. As soon as you go in, you are faced with The Tiki Bar(that’s what I call it). I called in advance and immediate asked to put our names down for a reservation. We sit down at the bar and asked for a Mango Margarita and a Regular. The bartender is mixing the drinks, but I quickly glanced over and she’s not making frozen margaritas. I let her know that we wanted frozen. She seemed a little irritated by the fact that I didn’t specify«frozen», but nor did she asked me!(Bartenders always ask for margarita preference before prep). Nevertheless, she did come through, my mango margarita was slamming and so was my husband’s. Our table was ready and we were seated within 15 minutes. Gilligans is a cross between cafeteria openness and Fort Myers Chic. I went for the Clam Bake that included a whole lobster, steamed clams, mussels and shrimp for a very very very low price of $ 25.99. I opted out of the clams and she replaced them with more mussels for the same price!!! My hubby ordered the King Crab Bake. Seafood was beyond fresh and succulent… We had a really nice experience. Oh, and because our margaritas were so mouthwatering, we ordered 2 more. Again, the bartender came through. For $ 7, you get a delicious and pretty and strong margarita. Service was on point, from start to finish… Even with that slight hiccup at the bar. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Ate here two days in a row, once to go, once I sat down. Let me first say that what I had both times… was REALLY good. I went with the Shrimp feast and had it again the second day ½ the portion. 12 good sized shrimp in dinner menu, 6 for lunch(which my waitress categorized as a bunch). Came with fries and veggies which were both also good. I had the shrimp grilled and it was done to perfection. Great seasoning and taste. I may come back for dinner tonight also. The reason for the three stars is the god awful service. Waitress got me a drink, took my order, and never came back. Lunch time wasn’t busy and she just ignored her job. Never was asked if I wanted a refill. Never asked if I wanted some ketchup. Nothing. She stunk. The menu is much smaller for lunch, which lasts until 3 pm. The dinner menu is much more expansive and has everything seafood on it. You also can get pizza and burgers, a little something even for the kids. Again, the food was really good, I eat as much seafood as I can while on the East Coast. Of course being from the Midwest my seafood pallet isn’t overly expansive but the food was solid. Easily 4 star food, service unfortunately killed the experience. Nice little joint in small town Pomona NY.

Great food and good services! We went to a local baseball game two weeks ago and found a great place to eat. It’s called Gilligan’s Clam Bar and Grill. They had great food! Our son Ray had the chicken parm. and that was amazing too. I might need to get one of those to bring home next time! Yes it was that good! We can’t wait to go back again!
