Canine Corner Dog Park

Not sure if it’s the snowbirds or the shows on tv, but lately there have been a bunch of dog fights, sometimes a human leaves bleeding as well. (regarding the reason, it seems breed related. Try to guess which one, here’s a few hints-«He’s never done that before.» «I don’t know what happened, all of the sudden he just attacked.» «He’s a really nice dog, he doesn’t bite, but might lick you to deat… Oh god, stop, Stop, STOP!!!») It’s usually the same dogs, so after this happens about three times, the owner’s three remaining brain cells fire in sync and the owner figures out it may be a good idea to stop coming to the park.
Less attacks very recently, but might be because a lot of people with good dogs stopped coming due to attacks, so there’s less chance of confrontation.

My dog has so much fun here! There’s the occasional person who thinks they are in their own backyard and guard their toys more than the dogs. Or think the dogs are children and people are supposed to chase them around.
I let my dog run free (there are plenty of tennis balls), he runs with the other running types, chills when he’s tired, and I watch to make sure I catch him poop.
Please, don’t be lazy and let the dogs out when you enter or exit. That’s just rude.

We loved taking our 5 month, 8 pound, Mabel here yesterday! We can’t wait to go again! There are safety gates at the entrance, 2 zones for 25+\- dogs, walking areas for people and tons of grass. I never stepped on poop! Everyone was very friendly and stepped in if there was aggressive behavior. Multiple times I saw owners correcting poor behaviors. Parking was easy. The only sore spot for our pup was the airplanes flying overhead but it seems like she got used to the smaller ones after a bit!

A new seating area with a big «umbrella» was recently added… great…but some more benches and bins are needed.

My dog and I love this park. He is a small dog and loves playing in the fenced secure area with the other small dogs. We have been many times without any incident, meaning so far, all nice dogs. Everyone is really diligent about picking up after their pets which keeps it even nicer. Water bowls are supplied as are pooh bags.

My dog and I love this park! Mario is a small jackchi and he loves walking around the park and soaking up the sun. I take a chair and watch the dogs play. It’s like a form of meditation — the dogs are so happy and free spirited. It makes my spirits soar to watch the pups enjoy themselves. There’s a lot of regulars and after a while you get to know other people and their dogs. I love going here as much as my dog.

Pretty decent sized park that has a small dogs section (less than 25 lbs) and large dogs section (greater than 25 lbs). Hosing area, plenty of poop gags and water stations, so all that you need is available and well maintained.

I’ve been to this park a couple times with my Cav, and she doesn’t seem to care for it that much. She’s fine with the dogs and the people, there’s just nothing for her to *do* there– it’s pretty much just an open space with a single path, a few benches, and a few trees. Sorry, Pompano, I love you, but this park could be a lot better. 2.5, but I’ll have to give you 3.

Pompano has done an amazing job renovating this dog park. People are friendly and dogs can run wild. Doggie bags are provided, there is seating for people, toys for the pups, water bowls, a dog tub and a hose to rinse them off. There are 2 separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. Keep in mind that since this is a grass park obviously it can get very muddy when it rains, so be prepared and bring a towel.

Beautiful Park!!! We definitely will return with Mak. Very nice people frequent here as well! We loved how there are so many various areas you can go to. Highly recommended!

Love this park. Friendly, large, well maintained, best in north ft lauderdale area.
Couple good things to know:
–Muddy after a rain, take towel and dog shampoo
–car break ins have happened a few times over the years. Not to me, but I saw the cops there and the broken window. One time at least the person had left purse on the seat

This is an awesome Dog Park. I have so many great memories at Canine Corner and have watched it grow in leaps and bounds. The city does a fabulous job on maintaining the property and it’s always a work in progress as they strive to improve this park as it grows on a daily basis. I applaud the City of Pompano Beach for all the progress at this park.

I go to this park with my ChiPin mix almost everyday, at various hours of the day. My dog and I love coming here. You do on occasion run into owners who don’t have tags on their dogs, don’t pick up after their dogs, or their dogs seem to be in heat but this is inevitable wherever you go for FREE. If people want residents/​tourists to be forced to show proof of up-​to-​date vaccinations then get ready to pay an annual/​weekly/​daily park fee. Otherwise, live with it. You like it free, you’ve got to sacrifice some things. But no worries prospective fur-​baby-​park-​goers, the park is well kept for the most part, the people are nice, and altercations are rare.
This park has regulars, myself included, and most of them are nice and do well to help maintain the parks in the best condition. I don’t know what regulars the previous reviewer was referring to that were «wasted» but I can assure you all that that is not a regular thing. There are plenty of faucets and shade for the dogs, fair amount of seating (some people bring their own to hang out), and plenty of space to run/​roam. There is also lots of parking and the airport/​community park trail runs right by the dog park so that if you wanna go running with your furry one, you can.
Very thankful to have a park nearby where my furry one can run around, enjoy the Florida heat, socialize, I can play with other pups, and then he can pass out in the car good and tired.

Dangerous for dogs and their humans. Not safe! The «regulars» arrive wasted & their poor neglected dogs who’ve been locked up all day end up being overly aggressive. many aren’t fixed, none seem to own a collar w/​ID or proof of vaccination what’s worse their owners don’t pick up their poo. We tried at least 5 times (different days, times, etc) because it’s close to home but we love our dogs & safety is important — we drive out to Happy Tails in Plantation or got to the dog beach in Boca instead — STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!!’

The 3^rd section of the park has been completed. It seems fairly nice although smaller than the original big dog part of the park. The «old» big dog side is currently closed to do landscaping work (the grass needed help). They also added fencing to temporarily close off flooded areas during heavy rains so that the whole park doesn’t have to be closed. I haven’t seen the bathrooms we were promised, but I’ve only been there once since it opened.

Nice, clean dog park in Pompano! The people here are generally very nice and we have never encountered an aggressive dog. I have two small dogs (both under 10 pounds), but we usually still go in the big dog area at other parks. Reason being, the small dog areas are usually tiny. Not the case here. There is room for my pups to run and chase their balls. People also leave nice balls, ropes and toys around for other families to enjoy. There are also bowls, a small dog pool and other things that people have been kind enough to leave around over time. We love this dog park and will continue to frequent this park.

I was dog-​sitting my sister’s Chihuahua (Max is his name), and decided to take him to this dog park on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Max is around four pounds (very much a lap dog), and was very comfortable in the smaller dogs’ section (25 pounds or less).
I really liked this place. Max got a good workout as he was free to roam around as he pleased. The other dogs would come around and sniff his behind, but he had no interest in returning the favor. He instead chose to carve his own path, but he wasn’t bothered by the other dogs. He appeared content.
The dog-​loving patrons are friendly, and it is very easy to strike up conversations. There aren’t a lot of benches, and savvy veterans bring their own lawn chairs, and coolers in some instances. They sit together and socialize as their dogs trot around freely.

There is a guy that will go around and «enforce» the laws in his own time, whether your dogs have the right tags, which I am all for, but when he has to handle it himself causes an issue, this is why we have law enforcement officers and code enforcement personnel. Apparently this guy help runs the park but has no identification.
I’ve also had numerous of annoying issues with other dog owners. I am a professional handler and my dogs are highly skilled and trained, but some of the locals that bring their dogs are absolutely insane, which is why I no longer go to this park. Plus it seems to always be closed. Beware of stupid owners that probably shouldn’t own dogs.

Four stars for having a dog park in the area.
But a few additions would be really helpful.
There are only 2 benches in the big dog area. Not near enough seating or canopy for shade or protection from rain.
No fun obstacles for the dogs.
If these were added it would be great for sure.
