I played this course many times PRE Norman.
well today found a couple of holes different
many elevated greens,
greens not holding, putting ok more slower
than fast
fairways ok – the drought hasn’t helped.
just great people working there
ps. no gps

I really want to give it a 3−½ but that’s not an option. Tee boxes and greens are in decent shape but the fairways are a disaster! C’mon man, they’ve spent all their time, $$$ and efforts on the Pines course and done nothing with the Palms course. I play every week somewhere nearby and will not continue supporting this course if they don’t start taking better care of it.

This municipal course has two courses, the Palms and the Greg Norman Signature Pines. My group chose the Palms course over the Pines course because we were told by the course that the Pines was just aerated last week. We believed the Palms would be in better condition. I think we’re mistaken on that. The fairways have lot’s of weeds and places without weeds have unrepaired divots. The greens had been aerated and sanded perhaps a month ago but many were burned out and patchy.
The water protecting hole #8 smelled so bad you had to hold your breath to putt and it looked like green slime. If you’re unlucky enough to fall into it, you’ll probably glow for several days and likely be chosen at random by casting agents to work as aliens in low-​budget movies.
HOWEVER, the sand in the bunkers was nice, fluffy and easy to hit out of. The starter is also a very entertaining gentleman and it was tres cool to watch the Goodyear blimp take off from the adjacent airport. That said, golf wisely, my friends.

I played the course today from the white tees, and it was fun. It seems that we were lucky compare to other reviews because we had no problem at all.
The course is challenging and the rough becomes an important part of the game. The wind is also very much into play, so the club selection is important.

The new Norman course is really nice… I’ve played it twice since the redesign. Unfortunately, you can already tell that it will not be maintained properly as there are already dead/​dry spots popping up.
Aside from that, the customer service here is the worst I’ve ever encountered at a golf course. To start off, I was told that if I wanted to check in for my 2:00 tee time, I had to wait until 2pm or I wouldn’t be able to get the twilight rate. After leaving and then coming back at 2pm to check in, I waited behind two elderly men who were joking and bs-​ing with the lady behind the glass for what felt like 15 minutes.
My entire family works in the golf industry and they would be ashamed if any of the courses they managed were run this poorly. Ideally, they hire real golf people to work in the pro shop and make fewer tee times at a slightly higher rate. They are running a four star course like it’s a muni dog track… won’t be long before it is.

Went out twice and played the Palms course. Found the course okay but crowded and very slow playing. The starters did not keep the playing moving and most golfers were slow on every hole not just the short ones. It took us 3 hours to play only nine holes. Had to wait not just at the beginning for each hole but for each shot. Difficult to get any momentum going. Pompano needs to keep the course moving better.

I played the the newly redesigned (by Greg Norman) Pines Course yesterday and enjoyed it. Nice layout. Looking at the other course that has not been redone as your playing will show you how badly it needs a serious upgrade also!

Jose… the «Guardian» of this course is like a hawk. If you even attempt to play an extra hole after closing time (dusk) he’ll hunt you down. So, don’t even think about it.

Pebble Beach this isn’t…
It is a County golf course run by county employees… I find the cashiers to be incredibly rude, inflexible and the idea that they have to stand /​work behind 4 inches of bullet proof glass makes it difficult to interact with them.
Now that you have that idea firmly in mind you will not expect Pebble Beach, Southern Pines, The American Club etc etc.
Make SURE you wear a shirt with a collar (gotta buy one of you don’t) The course has some longer holes which are fun, the place is used hard but it is getting to be one of the only affordable public courses left. For a day of golf it is an great/​fun place to play.

My son came in from 600 miles away to play south Florida’s finest golf courses. Unfortunately for us, we picked this dump. The greens were hard as concrete and the staff was extremely rude. We played until dusk and one of the staff clowns came to us and threatened to call the police if we didn’t get off the course. STAY AWAY from these &*^%&^%. This visit made us ashamed to call South Florida our home.

this course is very friendly. thats important to me. a golf mom. my husband and son seem to like it too which is nice. rates are really reasonable and just lowered for the summer season. they let you walk here too which is nice. the restaurant is very busy. must be good. this course hosts the pompano beach jr golf classic and the event is fairly large. the people in the pro shop are nice too. i have to drive half an hour to get there but its a nice drive. go visit.

It’s a 36 hole public course. I like it, always have. They’ve invested in it over the years to make it bigger and better. The Pines course is 7200 yards and is the tougher of the two courses. The Palms is 6500 yards and is shorter, but still has some nice challenges to it. The rates are always good, but exceptional during the summer months. You can ride 18 holes after 4pm (you’ll get all 18 in) and it’s $ 21! Plus, I reviewed previously, it has Galuppi’s attached to the clubhouse for some food and libations.
Don’t ignore it because it’s a municipal, the place is nicer than most courses around.
