Walking into this bar feels like walking straight into TV Land and an episode of Cheers. I mean this place is truly the place where everyone knows your name. It’s a locals place made up of a lot of neighborhood folk but you won’t find a friendlier or kinder group of people. Some really interesting people come in here pilots, fishermen, newspaper people, horse trainers, and a lot of ITB people. The drinks are reasonably priced and there is entertainment almost every night. From comedy to singer songwriter showcases to open mic jams, karaōke and bands this place has something for everyone. They are always throwing a party for something so you can always find a free buffet to go along with your cheap drink. They also have pool, darts, and video poker/slots. The bartenders are amazing — Kat is fantastic and treats her customers like gold, but if Erin, Linda, or Tim are behind the bar you are also going to get served with a smile and a good time. This bar is a smoking bar so that might or might not be a deal breaker for you. Wednesday is karaōke night and they get a good crowd — good singers not to many singers so you don’t have to wait all night to sing and the other singers are really supportive and kind. They used to have karaōke on Saturday but for some reason they stopped it, hopefully they will see the err of their ways and bring it back. Sunday night is rock and roll open mic jam and anyone can get up to sing or play with the house band or do a solo act or just get up and jam. All around its a great place and my go to when I want to go have a hassle free drink where the music isn’t too loud and I can have a great conversation.

This was a pleasant surprise; a nice little locals bar where folks can smoke and non-smokers can still breathe the air. I believe they have an air-filtering system. There are a couple of pool tables, video games, poker machines, and a dart board for the bored. The bar is actually very nice. The only odd thing is the glassware. I felt like I’d gone back in time to 1985; the small pilsner glass instead of the pint, small stemmed rocks and highball glasses instead of a Gibraltar glass, etc. On second thought, that’s another thing that gives this little hole in the wall its charm. The music on Friday nights with Tanya and Bert is exceptional.

I generally confine my serious drinking to the hallowed halls of an American Legion Post but I had heard a lot about the Starlite Lounge and thought I’d give it try. I’m glad that I did. It’s a perfect dive bar for the serious to professional drinker, though most drink bottled beer served in chilled plastic buckets. The place is really big, has a couple of pool tables, some high cocktail tables with bar type seating stools and one of the largest bars, by seating capacity, to be found. It appears to be a well run operation, lots of cheap décor such as some plastic dolphins on wall, a football poster or two and some out of date Christmas ornament lights encircling the interior that I suppose are meant to be representative of starlight; in this case«starlite.» The patrons are mostly neighborhood folks, all very friendly and covering the entire age spectrum but with the majority being 40−50ish. All in all, it’s one of the best bars around in which to do serious drinking or maybe in which to get flat out drunk.
