Pacific Rim Hobby had some shady dealings with my son. They sold him a very used rc battery charger for «10%» off. I took one look at the adhesive covered dusty unit and was annoyed. They didn’t even give him the wall plug for it (granted it is normally sold separately) went back inside a little annoyed at that they took advantage of the fact that he was an eager 11 year old and they tried to sell me a new $ 15 wall plug and explained that the register «only does 10% off». I kindly expressed my disapproval of there sales tactics and they gave me the very used wall charge it was originally plugged into. I left still very annoyed but somewhat placated. On my way home I started doing math in my head and realized that they didn’t even give him the 10% off to start out with!!! So I went back and again expressed my up most disappointment in the appearance that they took advantage of the situation. They confirmed that they had in fact forgot to give him a discount initially and refused to honor the 10% and said he could have the 10% off or the used charger. Keep in mind we have probably spent hundreds of dollars there in the last year and thousands over the last 5 years. I have tolerated there generally crappy customer service in the spirit of shopping locally but this crossed the line.

Wow! How wonderful this shop is! I am not a collector or anything — but I was in desperate need of a proper variety of Thomas the Tank Engines. You see — the ones now available in most stores are a new version that are re sized and built only for cheap plastic tracks — not compatible with Brio or other wooden tracks — so I was quite distraught — with my little boys 2^nd birthday only a day away! We arrived a bit frantic — and i told the man behind the counter about my situation. He showed me his amazing and impressive selection of Thomas Engines and then even took my children to the other side of the store — distracting them with a remote control airplane — while I was able to choose over the trains to surprise my boy. My children then began playing with the display trains and track while I checked out. When I went to retrieve my children and leave — I saw that I had over looked a whole train set that included tracks and trains and so on. I went up to the counter and asked if I might exchange the engines I had bought for the set I had just discovered — I apologized for being such trouble — but the man was so kind and assured me was it was no trouble — and very kindly did the exchange. It is truly a wonderful place. I will only shop there for my boys toys in the future.
