They are not competent and don’t use them. My unit was silent and suddenly became excessively noisy and they have no idea why. Your never gonna get a straight answer with this company. They can use a bunch of fancy words like cavitation, cubic feet, return air, Merv ratings on filters to give explanations, but they have no real answers or solutions. Plus if they come out because of AHS, they will definitely be even more difficult to work with and even more sketchy with their write-ups. For me… The tech came out and inspected the unit, he took off the door, shined a light in the unit, and that was it. He said the noisy sound is because the door was vibrating and he «fixed» it with duct tape. This is the 30 years of experience you get… he left without offering a valid explanation causing the noise. John Laflour, the manager came out to give his opinion. With his 30 – 40 years of experience, he said it was because the filter i was using and could not explain why it has become noisy. He «in my opinion» does not make honest or ethical statements and write-ups about the state of the unit. These are not engineers, nor are they technicians, «in my opinion» they are 30-year laborers that can replace a part or two but don’t know anything about HVAC.

Through American Home Shield TJ Morgan came to replace a thermostat. It worked fine for about 12 weeks then died. They sent him out again and he said that there was a wire that was not connected and then charged me $ 75. When I reminded him that he was the one that installed it, he said that if he had been hired directly he wouldn’t charge me, but because it was through AHS and over 60 days, he would charge an additional $ 75. A couple of years later, in the August heat here in SETX, our A/C went out. Called American Home Shield and TJ Morgan is again dispatched. Two days later, not even the courtesy of a phone call to schedule the appointment. I hired someone on my own. I don’t know how anyone can stay in business like this.

John is very unprofessional and rude. The first guy he sent, Chris, was completely incompetent of even assessing the problem. The second guy he sent, Patrick, was very nice and fixed part of the problem. I paid the second guy thinking that the entire problem was taken care of, but, it wasn’t. I had to call John again, and he was not very friendly or helpful. Told me he would send another guy out the following day. I missed the guy’s call the following day, but called him back as he was leaving me a voice mail. He didn’t answer. Once again, had to call John. John turned very unprofessional and told me it was my problem, not his, and he wasn’t going to finish the job… and hung up on me
