I don’t have a lot to go on, but what I have stinks. My family was visiting the area, and I had an hour to kill and a need for cheese. I was thriled when I saw their billboard. 7 miles to a large selection of cheese. With my wife’s wine and cheese party coming up, it seemed meant to be. 21 miles later and fuming, I found out I arrived too early to buy cheese. If I wanted to buy, I was going to have to wait four MONTHS Normally I would have thought it would have been nice if the seasonal hours were mentioned, but the misdirection of the mileage convinced me this us not a company that gives a shit about their customers.

Great selection of wines, cheese etc. however, the check out process is crazy and needs to changed. The woman who handled my purchases was rude and with no customer service skills at all. I will not go back.

My family once frequented this cheese shop annually on vacations to Lake Erie/Port Clinton. It had been several years since our last trip but this year we returned and Cheese Haven remains a fromage lover’s paradise. The cheese selection is tremendous. They also have an extensive selection of cased meats, mustards, jellies, jams, wines, candy, fudge, and interesting pops/sodas. That said, the cheese is the main event. It is kind of expensive, but worth it. One drawback is that they don’t have as many samples as they used to. I’d imagine that’s a money saver, but it makes it more difficult to comfortably select THE cheese for you. Bottom line — worth the trip.

Back again today. The three year old cheddar is awesome, as is the ghost pepper spread. Also: they are open on Tuesdays in summer. Ignore what your phone is telling you about that.

The sign says it all — «125 kinds of cheese. Fresh and smoked meats. Delicatessen Department. Candy. Baked Goods.» Needless to say Hubby and Dad love the cheese. I love the smoked meats. The candy would make any kid drool and everything is good! Huge variety and some unique finds as well.

This place is a MUST-stop if you are near Port Clinton or Lakeside-Marblehead. Cheese haven has a huge selection of everything ‘cheese’ you could ever imagine. They have fresh cheese in blocks, cheese dips, and many cheese oddities. The store has a giant selection of candy including old fashioned candy like Charleston Chews and specialty candies that you’ve never seen. They make fresh fudge in 10 flavors. Cheese Haven is also a haven for hot sauces and Wine. They also sell other alcohol and some fun goods like prankster items or gag gifts. The shop has free samples of cheese dip. Try the Spicy beer cheese, wine cheese, and the almond Swiss. We come here every time we go to Lakeside. I will continue to make this a tradition and get some delicious cheese dip and specialty goods

We will not be back here. The cheese was over rated and way overpriced. I can get some of the same cheese from our local Amish market for less than half the price. There was a very rude employee there as well. A customer asked if they had an item and her response was«I don’t know. You will just have to look.» This was after I asked if they had a restroom for our 6 year old and she told me no, to go to Subway across the street. A place that large with no public restroom? Hole in the wall gas stations offer that for crying out loud. The second time I heard the employee be rude, I sat my items I was going to purchase down and walked out. I wasn’t giving them a dime.

Great service, amazing cheese selection, candy, wine, and cured meats. Every cheese was amazing! They let you sample most cheeses when asked and even have different samples out for everyone to taste. The«smokies» are incredible, extremely fresh with a delightful flavor. Must try the fresh bread!

Yeah… NO. Living close to Jungle Jims and having Heini’s as our all time favorite cheese store, there is just NO comparison. No samples=no fun. Their prices are not great. There was no one else in the store, it was boring and bland. Won’t bother again.

This place is okay, but I have been to lots of places with equally as many cheeses to choose from. I’d venture to say that my local trader joes has a larger variety. Cheese Haven just have several types of the same cheese over and over again. Lots of cheddars, lots of spreads, some Colby, some mozzarella. Nothing fun like Brie or goats cheese. They offer some fun wines and drinks. We enjoyed buying some Amish beef jerky there too. The service is terrible. They just aren’t friendly. Better than the old man who used to run the place but… Only by a hair. At least he was so rude that it was almost funny. We enjoyed our«spicy beer cheese» spread.

Pretty neat shop with a variety of things. Lots of cheese for sure, and prices are reasonable. They could offer more selection of samples, I don’t know too many people that will blind buy $ 10+ cheese. It’s worth visiting if you are in the area, But if you are going for just the cheese, consider instead visiting Heini’s or Guggisberg in Millersburg.

It is an amazing place over 100 cheese! Prices are also average. Smoke fish is the best also chocolate cheese and Mediterranean sunset cheese really good. Nice and friendly people! New owners are really nice people

I love the products in here but not the employees. I seriously don’t know how you can stay in business with such a bad demeanor. If you don’t like people, hire someone that enjoys their customers.

This place is pretty neat – fun to pop in and grab some jerky, cheese & candy. We were wowed by the selection, but ultimately didn’t grab too many things because the value wasn’t so great.

I really wanted to like this place more — it’s called Cheese Haven for goodness sake! They did have a whole lot of cheese, I will say that much. I was expecting some more samples — being able to try a $ 13 block of cheese I am not familiar with makes me much more inclined to purchase it. They had several soft cheese spreads out to sample with crackers as well as a hard salami. I thought these were all great so I would have liked to try some more, as many of their products were pricier and I would not want to buy it on a whim. I would describe the décor as «Rural Ohio Kitsch» — I liked it. If you are looking for a unique gift to bring someone back from Port Clinton this place would be your best bet.

I have been by this place a couple of times, and always thought it was«cheesy»(see what I did there?) Anyway, after an incredibly disappointing stay on PIB, I figured lets see if we can make this worse… This place is FANTASTIC! They have a huge selection of cheese, and meats with samples to try but also they have a nice selection of wines and old nostalgic candies. The people are very friendly and knowledgeable about the different types of meat and cheeses and the service is great. I think this is a must stop by place if you are in the area. For people with small children, I should mention, the hot sauce area has some brands that use some strong expletives to describe how hot they are so you might want to keep the kiddos away from that section(they would be busy in the candy section anyway.)

This place has every kind of cheese imaginable and some I would have never imagined! So the name«Cheese Haven» is pretty suiting! They also have some other items like wine(especially one’s locally made like Lonz & Heineman’s), hot sauces, snacks, beer and some knick-knacky sorts of things. The staff was super pleasant when we stopped in right before they closed on a busy Memorial Day Holiday. Everyone was eager to help us, but not pushy. I also found that the wines here were priced lower than they were AT the wineries in Put In Bay. I was SO happy to find the one that I loved from Heineman’s that I didn’t purchase while at the winery since I didn’t want to carry it around on the golf cart the rest of the day! Oh and my father-in-law says to beware of the ghost pepper cheese spread, it is apparently some serious stuff! haha

Some if the most unique cheeses you can find. The staff knows what they are talking about and they also have a solid meat selection, wines, and candy. Every time I’m up here I make a trip to cheese heaven mandatory.

I like going to Cheese Haven every now and then. Their horseradish spread is my primary purchase, but I’ll also pick up a piece of smoked Swiss. Excellent choices. My biggest concern is customer care. There’s no public restroom. I’ve been driving quite some time to make some serious purchases. The least that can be done is to have some facilities for the buyers. Yes, yes, I get why there aren’t. So, I don’t want to see a litany of distrustful reasons against it. They’ve been around forever and have the money to do so. I know I would have purchased more, if comfort wasn’t in short supply. Cheese Haven, stop thinking the worst of people. I remember back in the 90s, when it was run by a very antagonistic old man. He wasn’t friendly towards others, and would bark at the customers about the samples. Now, again, I get why he’s mad at others but that’s not a constructive way to go about the situation. If samples were such an issue, those clerks behind the counter could provide them on request. I don’t know what happened to him, but the clerks still act like they did a long time ago. They fiddled around, talking with the locals. In fact, a couple of them were fawning over a townie’s infant instead of working. Thanks for helping me out there, ladies. It feels like the place is being used for a cash cow, and the products are merely secondary. That’s always a disappointing strategy to me.

The Cheese Haven makes me happy LOL. We stopped in on our way back from Walmart with intentions of walking through just to check it out. Cured meats, gimmicky liquor drinks, coffee, kitchy stuff and of course cheese wall to wall is what you get. I picked up some Habanero jerky and some«Wake the Fuck Up» brand coffee and skedaddled but I’d come back for some cheese and more jerky for sure.
