This place is amazing! It’s a bit hidden(you have to walk down behind the restaurant), but it’s a must see. It’s a fabulous immersive display. Great for the history buff or for the person who just wants to kill some time with family. It’s super cheep($ 3) and the docents are wonderful. We were helped by Cayenne, who was friendly and knowledgeable!

This is a cool little museum in a cool little town. It’s a little on the smaller side, but it’s got some cool history about the original founders. Upon walking to the entrance, you’re greeted by a large anchor, a big motor and an amazing view of the water. A perfect place to snap some photos or just sit and take in the scenery. Entrance is pretty cheap: $ 4 for adults and $ 3 for children, seniors and students. Not too bad for a short educational experience, but be warned: It’s cash only! Inside you’ll see original pieces of the town and duplicated setups of the area’s most popular spots like the hotel, ships, bedrooms, and more. They have signs at each spot for you to read and understand what you’re looking at. I’d recommend checking it out if you’ve walked around the rest of Port Gamble. It just gives you a little bit more insight and sort of pieces everything together for you. The lady at the counter was great about providing some additional information if you needed any elaborations and even told us that they do paranormal tours during Halloween. More of a reason to come back, even though she hasn’t experienced any hauntings herself. After the tour, they have a gift shop upstairs as well as a café. Just gives you another opportunity to fuel up and take in some of the sights. We came during a rainy day and the views were still great. When the sun is shining, I’m sure they are even better! Parking is a cinch. Plenty of free parking all over the area.

Cool museum for not a bad price! Staff at the start was very helpful to answer questions. Not super large but if you are looking for something to do out of the elements check it out! They have some very interesting relics from the past of the town.

I was on my way to Port Townsend after crossing the Edmonds-Kingston ferry, when I noticed a brown historical sign on the highway, so I quickly turned off the road to check out the town of Port Gamble and its museum. This is a very small, quaint town in comparison to Port Townsend, and it is all owned by the company Pope & Talbot that used to operate a saw mill for the lumber business. The individuals who arrived in the 1800s were mostly from Maine, so they built the houses in the same fashion that you would see on the East coast. The houses and buildings have been preserved and rented out to various tourist shops and other necessary business entities. The museum is at basement or lower level underneath the general store. Adult admission to the museum was $ 4. The museum had a collection of items from the personal affects of the individuals that lived in the company town during the heyday, in addition to some logging equipment. The museum itself would probably only be worth 2 stars, but I gave it 3 stars due to the docent on duty who provided all sorts of interesting tidbits about the town’s history that wasn’t easily discernable from the exhibit labels. If you go, be sure to ask questions of the paid staff to really get your money’s worth. Parking was free and readily available all along the town’s main street.

This is a great museum that will give you an idea of what life was like during the pioneer days of logging and shipping in a mill town on Puget Sound. Port Gamble is a well preserved town and looks much like it did when my great grandfather sailed here to pick up a load of timber in the late 1800’s. A must visit if you are cruising thru town.

I came here with my daughter last week and we were both amazed at the amount of history here in this small part of the world. Also, they have a real autograph of Lincoln’s, how cool is THAT? It’s a small price to pay for a very nice experience.
