I’ll start off by saying… Please make a stop at the Tea Room At Port Gamble! If you appreciate quaint ambience, traditional décor and a warm atmosphere, male or female, you’ll enjoy drinking in the coziness of the space here. Character and charm!!! Utilized in a historic east coast style victorian home, this tea room truly evokes a classy old fashioned feel. The furnishings and quirky tea sets make a whimsical experience. Very enjoyable. Our server, Tina, answered all of our questions and held patients with my somewhat lost Hubby, she guided us through our high tea, making us comfortable and not feeling confused or uninformed. I enjoyed the traditional tea(my choice — earl grey), which was a lovely pot with heaping servings of fresh tea, honey, and cream… I couldn’t finish my portion… And I’m a pig :) the Hubby subbed out Tea for Mayan coco. Graciously accommodated by our server. I had a sip, and let me tell you, a subtle balance of habañero and cinnamon… WOW! Our high tea included our choice of scone(one each, HUGE) and fixings for them. The scones were Devine– warmed with a fluffy flakey inside and a crumbly fresh exterior. Reminded me of a scone-Russian tea cake highbred. I loved it. The sandwiches were built on high quality bread(sour dough and brown molasses). Unfortunately we missed out on the cucumber sandwich, a classic, due to a inventory mishap. It happens, Tina promptly addressed this and subbed our Sammy’s according to our tastes. The sour dough tomato and cheese sandwich was SO good. I thought something so simple would lack personality. I was wrong. I am not a huge fan of cheese, however, the combo of Roma tomatoes and the gourmet cheese was so complex and complementary… It worked very well. Salmon spread sandwiches were lovely, hearty, yet simple. The molasses bread brought the flavors together in a beautiful way. YUM. The service was great. We felt comfortable, accommodated, and welcome. I was smart and made a reservation, although it was not needed at the given time. There is a 18% admin fee. Who cares! Haha. Honestly, you pay for an experience and 18% is very fair. The tip is up to what ever kind of tipper you are. Our service was great! If this upsets you, you’re a cheap @$$ and shouldn’t eat out. I can’t wait to come back for lunch! The WHOLE menu was calling my name… I think that last star may be granted if the food is as good as the menu portrays!

Excellent tea, excellent scones and lemon curd, excellent staff, and possibly the cutest tea room I’ve seen in a long time! I’d give them 6 stars if I could!

I have a special fondness for the Tea Room which I had visited for dinner while visiting my father in Port Ludlow. I had one eaten schnitzel in Vienna with my grandmother and hadn’t really liked it because it was greasy and tough. For some reason I decided to give schnitzel a second chance at the Tea Room. It was so light and delicate that the meat melted in my mother. My Dad and the owner, Janis hit it off enormously because they shared the same sarcastic wit. Listening to them banter throughout the meal was like listening to a comedy team. My siblings and I returned last May when my father broke his hip and passed away to let Janis know about my Dad’s passing. Thanks to the gift certificate from the fine ladies of the Port Ludlow Singles Club, we splurged on the English Afternoon Tea which featured sandwiches were well above and beyond what my sister had envisioned as a tea sandwiches. You cannot leave without buying at least a few truffles. We discovered my Dad’s stash in the refrigerator when we were cleaning out his home. I’ll never look at a truffle again without thinking of Dad and Janis cracking us up.

SIMPLYWONDERFUL! We have driven up to the Port Gamble Tea Room for many, many years. It is about a 4 ½−5 hour drive for us one way so we always make it a day trip. It is well worth the time and gas to just to experience their chocolate high tea! We have had high teas for over 25 years when visiting our friends to the north in Canada. Some of them were more expensive ten years ago than the chocolate high tea at Port Gamble Tea Room. Only one tea room that we tried over the years in Canada was close to being as wonderful as Port Gamble Tea Room. Their customer service is top notch.(And many of my associates over the last 25 years would tell you that is my highest priority). The scones are absolutely incredible! No bakery in our area(and there are many very good ones) can make scones this good. The jam or curd, as you can choose is delicious… so we always choose both! They are more than happy to get you more jam or curd or butter if you need it, for no extra charge(I like to tip them an extra smile). Usually a couple shares a pot of tea, but because of my heart I need herbal or decaf, while my wife prefers a full bodied tea from their nice selection. They always give us two pots, one of each and we are not charged for the extra one, even though I offered. The sandwiches(particularly the cucumber or the salmon mousse ones) are as addicting as the scones! We always miss the breakfast because of the long drive but a call or email ahead let’s them reserve some of our favorites to take home with us — along with an extra order of sandwiches and scones and teas! Over the years I have learned that if you walk into a business with a bad attitude you will probably leave with a bad attitude… no matter how exceptional the service is. You always leave as you came in. We always leave Port Gamble Tea Room with a smile… actually, many smiles all occurring over the course of our wonderful and relaxing visit there. As a customer, I have seen many many other people over the years leave with satisfied smiles as well.

What an amazing start to our tenth wedding anniversary! We always have high tea for our special occasion each year and this year was terrific! Service was very professional but not stuffy, very genuine! The teas sandwiches were each uniquely different yet traditional and very tasty, the scones were amazing, and of course the truffles were a nice treat. The special little surprise of fruit fondue was both fun and of course a sweet ending. But wait, we weren’t done yet, the owner finished off with a darling serenade with her lovely voice. Yes, the teas were delicious and I bought extra to take home. I highly recommend this little hidden treasure in Port Gamble for romance, fun, couples date, girls day out, or any special get together. I left with a full tummy and a full heart.

I was very optimistic after reading the reviews, but certainly would not return. We came on a Sunday with a reservation and had to wait for 10 minutes before being seated a small table in the corner. The table was not set and it was another 10 minutes before we got forks and water. The waiter was extremely brusque and seemed annoyed by our presence; he had a very large party in the next room. I had come looking forward to the gluten free chocolate tea while my mother got the eggs benedict. It was some time before the waiter took our order, and he did so as quickly as possible. We were then informed that tea came by the person and not by the pot, so that my mother could not have some of tea of my tea without paying, though she tried to explain that we did not plan on consuming more than a cup.(In the end, we did not even finish the pot, but were still charged for two.) After about 5 minutes, the waiter came back to inform us that they were out of gluten free bed and would serve me the breakfast tea. He did not approach our table all the way and instead spoke to us from the doorway. I meant to inform him that there were some items from the chocolate tea that I wanted, but he rushed away too quickly and I had to track him down later. When I did find him, he said«yeah whatever.» At this point we had finished out waters, which would never be refilled. When the food came, I was fairly pleased. The crustless quiche that I got instead of sandwiches was lovely. The tea was good. The scones, however, were cold and served with scant cream and jam. The waiter had forgotten to ask what kind of chocolate I wanted to so he brought a random flavor(one that I did not want) and told me to go up to the counter to exchange it. My mother’s benedict was good, with well cooked eggs and great potatoes. However, it was pretty basic, with mediocre sauce and very bready crabcakes, and the asparagus, which had been overcooked, came separately. We did not see the waiter again. ~ In the end the check came out to about $ 60. They had charged me full price for the tea and the gluten free substitution, despite the fact that the a la carte price for a quiche is less than sandwiches and it was naturally gluten free. They also included an 18% gratuity without asking us first, which is what send my discontent over the edge. Typically my mother tips 20% at local restaurants and less only if the service is particularly bad, but in this case the service WAS particularly bad. True, the waiter was very busy, but he made plenty in tips from the large table that he actually paid attention to. Overall, I might have given it 4 stars if the bill had come out to $ 20 or $ 30, as the food was unremarkable but pleasant. But at every step of the way the restaurant showed a complete lack of concern for us or the quality their food that does not justify such a huge markup.

Just what a Tea Room should be and have: Lots of great teas, nice china cups, pots, etc. And the food — scrumptious! The lemon scones are huge and they’re to die for! The«Chocolate High Tea» is a traditional, but over-the-top, English Afternoon Tea with sandwiches, savories, baked goods, sweeties, and fresh fruit. It would be a bargain at twice the price. It’s small, lots to look at, great, friendly service. Come here. Come often. You owe it to yourself!

This place is ABSOLUTELY adorable. I can’t say enough great things about it. The first time I visited I ordered some of their delicious chocolate truffles(so good and so many to choose from) and noticed an etiquette class with a bunch of young girls. I would have loved to have something like that when I was younger(or even today!). The next time I came was as a going away party. We had high tea, which included finger sandwiches and a pot of tea for each of us(along with a few truffles). I can’t remember the specific tea I ordered, but I enjoyed it very much. I appreciate that they have so many teas to choose from, including both caffeinated and non-caffeinated teas. I also loved the cream cheese finger sandwiches. In addition to the finger sandwiches, they also have tons of sandwiches and salads to choose from. I found our server very helpful and attentive. Finally, you can choose one of their many hats to wear during your lunch or breakfast. If I’m ever back in the area, I will be sure to visit.

The food was excellent… great portion for a tea and very reasonable for all that they serve. The owner, Janis Kelly was warm, friendly and most welcoming. I visited from California and have been to many teas… you will not leave hungry!

I went to Port Gamble with my girlfriend, looking to have a fun day trip with shopping and a nice lunch. We stumbled upon this place after walking past a few other loud/noisy spots and saw that it wasn’t busy. The waiter and staff were fantastic and very attentive but not irritating. They kept our drinks filled and ensured the food was amazing. Speaking of the food, the chef does wonders! I ordered a fritatta(minus the mushrooms) and it comes loaded with his custom made millionare bacon — it was probably one of the best meals I have had this year! The chef is wonderful and offers lot of options for folks that are looking for glutten-free options as well as customizing the menu to allergies. I can’t say enough how much this place rocked! I will be back the next time I am up in the area!

The husband and I stopped through here TWICE while we were relaxing at a nearby cabin. We enjoyed the tea so much. I had lavender earl grey and my husband had NW berry blend. The were both AWESOME. He had a quiche(which is crustless because she has a lot of gluten free customers) And it tasted fantastic. I had the sandwiches, I couldn’t get enough of the salmon one. Janis, the women who had been waiting on us and happened to be the owner came over and told us a crazy story about camping alone in the mountains. I felt really comfortable being in the tea room and just like I was a guest in her home. We then saw the menus for their champagne brunch for the next day and we made a reservation for the following day. We bought some chocolates(which were delicious and very rich). My husband was also off-put by the 18% gratuity at first, but honestly I would have tipped them a lot higher than the gratuity added on. I’ve been a server before and 18% is an alright tip. I’m still in a job that I rely on tips to survive and I wish I could just have it added on already. It would make up for the several people in a row stiffing me kind of days. Not that this applies to everyone. This is just how I felt personally about the gratuity being tacked on already. I plainly didn’t care. I enjoyed my tea and paid the $ 4.38 my gratuity came out to. We came back the next day. We ordered mimosas instead of champagne. I had their french toast(OHMYGOD) and my husband had eggs Benedict over Dungeness crab cakes which he said was marvelous. Those eggs were perfectly poached! Janis came over and talked to us about her plans for Halloween. She was super excited about all that they are going to be doing there this Halloween. Then she introduced the chef to everyone eating there that morning. She also introduced us to her husband before we left. We got more chocolates for the road and left with full bellies and warm hearts. We were so happy and relaxed on our ferry ride home. This our new favorite spot when we come through. It is also a spot we may need to take a ferry ride over just for the Benedict! We will most definitely be back.

Cute setting; great service; sub standard food. My husband’s salad had a teaspoon of dressing; my salmon«salad» was a scoop of salmon spread with stale crackers, The automatic 20 percent gratuity is unusual to say the least. The tea was lovely. Food, not so much.

My fiancé and I have been repeat customers of the Port Gamble Tea Room for years. We’ve never been disappointed by the food or the tea. Is it a little pricey? Yes. But I would take a bath in the cream served with the scones, and we’ve been known to fight over the tea sandwiches.(Not that there isn’t enough for both of us– we just get a little greedy over them.) My only complaint? I really hate the carpet pattern and the lace curtains. But that’s just a personal thing, and has certainly never stopped us from going there(and driving 45mins!) whenever possible.

Four of us had a wonderful dinner here. They will be open for dinner starting in May 2012 on Thursday thru Saturday. Otherwise it’s a Tea Room. They have 9 tables in 2 rooms so it’s an intimate setting for dinner. They also make chocolate truffles and we each had one for a decadent dessert — and took 6 more home with us!

What an adorable shop! I love this tea room, great food, great desserts, great chocolate. Very fun place for tea, it’s great for a group of women or girls, you can grab a hat, feather boa and just have fun. Brunch is also wonderful and now they have added dinner and a wine bar, which Port Gamble really needed a few things open at night. When it’s not too busy, ask the owner about their ghosts, they are so nice and will tell you some great stories. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Wonderful brunch experience. We first stopped to look at the menu and I commented on the millionaire bacon and a gentleman sitting on the porch asked if I knew what it was. I said no, that I just liked the name. He had created it, bacon with salt, pepper and maple syrup. We came back and tried it, along with brioche french toast and a mushroom potato dish. I’m still mentally raving about that meal. The chef came out and chatted with us again, which was fun. The server seemed like maybe she was a family friend helping out and that she wasn’t 100% comfortable in her role — in a way I found endearing. She was kind and helpful, just a little awkward, which gave it a familiar feel. I will try to plan my trips out to the peninsula based on the availability of their brunch.

Le Monsieur and I took the ferry over to Kingston and then drove up to Port Gamble. We had the Breakfast Tea. It was hearty and tasty, but not the fanciest thing ever and probably a bit over-priced. With Breakfast Tea you get a huge slice of quiche(but it’s crustless, which makes me sad), a gigantic scone, fresh fruit, and a fruit tart(but they were out of tarts, so we got a sugar cookie and truffle instead), plus a choice of tea. I had the Earl Grey with lavender, which I highly recommend. I think one would probably be better off just ordering a la carte — there’s too much food in the set menu to eat enjoyably.

First of all, there’s nothing to complain about the quality of the tea. It’s very good. And I’m pretty particular about the quality of tea I drink. They’ve got a pretty damn good Assam tea going. It’s not the quality of Murchie’s in Vancouver(which is some of the best tea I’ve drunk on the North American continent) but it’s pretty close. Sandwiches are decent. They’re not super amazing but they’re good for what they are. Keep in mind this is British food and the British are not known for the greatness of their food. My only real complaint? The overly feminine décor. I’m English and Irish by heritage and over in Old Blighty, longshoremen and construction workers break for tea and sandwiches. The décor doesn’t score that many points with the ladies and probably turns most guys off. I only went in because I’m a sucker for good tea, and fortunately the tea outweighed the décor.
