One of the worst dining experiences ever! Can I give them no stars? Servers were inexperienced, rude and disheveled. After being sat, we waited more than 15 minutes before we had to request a server come over. Server finally gets there and explains he didn’t realize we were there. We are visibly annoyed. We order raw clams on the half shell. 25 minutes later, no clams! I called a manager over. I asked her exactly how long does it take to cook raw clams? Rather than apologizing, her answer was, «well we have to shuck them». Lame excuse and unexceptable. After the appetizer, the salads come, but my husband has no utensils. We sit another 10 min waiting for someone to come by to get us silverware. For an entrée I had salmon w risotto… It was terrible. The risotto was waaaaaaaay overcooked… Just mush and gross. Isn’t this an Italian restaurant? To top all of this off, even after the manager knew we had a bad experience, they didn’t comp one thing off the check. Not a glass of wine or appetizer we waited 45 min for. That is a common curtesy at any restaurant. We’re not at Applebee’s people! I expect better service from a place like this. NEVER returning!!!

Beautiful location. Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Terrible management. We had heard bad things but wanted to give it a try ourselves so we went for Father’s Day dinner. When we arrived we were told«no tables with a view for at least an hour». We were seated in a boxy corner by the service trays with no view at all. Within 10 mins two tables on the deck and one inside by window were free. Much as I am trying to support local businesses I regret wasting money here. Food was overpriced pizza parlor Italian. Better Italian on main street/east Main Street.

Start with a SLOW valet parking line. 7:00 Rez not accepted ”til 7:40 Bottle of wine ordered @ 7:50 delivered after 8(lots of excuses, none good) Food reasonable; portions smaller than«real» Momma Lombardi’s. Need more?

I was excited by the view when we first were seated. Well, while we waited by a dirty table to be seated. Service was awful, super slow. It wasn’t even busy. The busser was the only one who paid attention and filled our water. For front and back service, service should be over the top. It definitely fell way below. Food was boring typical Italian American just way over priced. And really was not good. Never recommending and never going back. Definitely disappointed. Go back down to Main Street in port jeff

Recently attended a wedding here and thought it was very beautiful! There were some down falls which I was surprised about knowing Lombardi’s is an upscale venue. LOCATION: The name says it all. The restaurant is located right on the sound in Port Jefferson. You cannot get a better view then over looking the water. DECOR: Just had a basic tall center piece(that was breaking) with flowers at the top, nothing to crazy. Chandeliers are so pretty and of course the windows are perfect because you always have a view of the sound. FOOD: The cocktail hour was definitely better then dinner time. Cocktail hour had everything from fresh cheese and crackers to chicken parm and penne. Not one complaint about anything being served at that time. Once we sat down into the main dining room and gave our order everyone was excited. The choices were«Prime rib Lombardi», Stuffed chicken, Grilled Salmon, Duck, or a vegetable dish. Almost the whole table ordered the prime rib covered in wine sauce. First they brought out caeser salad which was good. Our steaks came out and it came to our attention that it wasn’t even a real prime rib. The amount of money Lombardi’s makes and they cant even give you the real deal. Many guests had there steaks cooked wrong. That was disappointing. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Dessert was boring and only had the cake. I know you get what you pay for but I think it could have been better. SERVICE: The staff around the cocktail hour was little slow on picking up the used silverware which was annoying because I had to sit there holding a dirty plate. Our Waitress in the main room was super friendly and efficient.(She even went along with the family jokes). She made sure to refill your water glass whenever it gets low which is always nice. We even talked her into bringing a pitcher of soda because our table was drinking it like crazy. ENTERTAINMENT: If i was rating them based on entertainment I would give one star. Dj was absolutely horrible, his speakers weren’t clear and he played the worst music. Maybe played about 4 good dancing songs He had no personality what so ever and gave the wrong information about the bride and groom. I had big expectations for Lombardi’s on the Sound but I’m not to sure if I was satisfied. I’ll have to try it for dinner.

I really thought this place would be better. Its a great scenic location, I went there for lunch and to be near the water on a beautiful day. The people there are friendly and the view is great but the chairs could/should be better and the menu should definitely have more selections. I thought because of its location that seafood would be on the menu but side from a couple of things, nothing. Not even common things like, flounder, shrimp, lobster or steaks of any kind. It was kind of disappointing. I got a steak sandwich and omg are the portions huge. I could hardly finish it without it breaking apart on the ciabatta bread, which is the only choice of bread. They should cut down the size of the portions and that would leave room for dessert. The only choice of sides is French fries :-/or you can get greens which was described as some lettuce and not much else with a ‘meh’ face. Not very enticing. My mother got a grilled chicken Caprese but same thing with the portions, come on how is one person supposed to eat all that. No side options so «greens» it is. The prices are ok but if they made smaller portions then maybe they could scale back the prices. I doubt I’d go there again, but the view is really nice.

Gorgeous view overlooking the sound. Salads came very late as the kitchen was backed up. I’ve been there before, I’ll go back. They were very nice about it.

I wish I could give this place more than just 5 stars. It really shouldn’t be on the same level as the other places I’ve given 5 Stars. I had my wedding at Lombardi’s on the Sound and have gone there for my anniversary every year. Restaurant: SOOO much food to choose from. such HUGE servings. Everything I’ve ever had has been delicious. I’m a big eater, so it’s saying something that I always go home with left overs. I have never been disappointed in anything I’ve ordered. Wedding: Amazing. Unfortunately, it poured the whole day, so we weren’t able to take advantage of the deck and glass cocktail hour room. But everyone had a great time regardless. The tables were laid out perfectly, and nothing was overcrowded(we had 181 guests). The 2 bars on either side of the hall helped break up any lines people may have experienced when hoping to get served. The staff was amazing. Everyone bent over backwards to make sure my wife and I were happy with everything. The Maitri d that Lombardi’s assigned to us gave us the most attention, and she made the amazing night even better. Nothing was too tall an order for her to fulfill.

Mediocre food served on one of the dirtiest, nastiest plates I’ve ever had a meal on. Will *never* go back.

Two of these stars are for the deck view. Can be one of the best on LI at the right time. Service has consistently been poor — for years now — very slow and minimally accommodating — so poor in fact that it overshadows the food — which is actually good with very large portions. If you are not in a rush — and u get the right day/time of day — it’s worth it. Otherwise –it’s not

Okay so maybe it’s because we got married here and I’m in love with the place, but… Lombardi’s on the Sound will always hold a very special place in my heart: — Beautiful venue — Beautiful VIEW! — We got married on site, outside, and it was gorgeous! I was originally very hesitant to get married at a venue, but at the end of the day, I was so incredibly happy we did! — EXCELLENT service on our wedding day for our guests and for me and my new husband! — The food was absolutely delicious!(Thankfully, the bridal attendants took the time out to make sure we sat down and ate something)! — Incredible cocktail hour — so many of our guests told us what an awesome time they had at the cocktail hour, bringing their food onto the deck, overlooking the water and enjoying the sunset! Exactly what we wanted for them! — Pat our coordinator was absolutely amazing. Incredibly helpful and attentive throughout the entire process. — We decided to have our rehearsal dinner here also. I highly recommend doing this if it works out with your schedule. This gave everyone in our bridal party, and ourselves, a real feel for what the wedding day was going to be like. Sean, the Maître D for our wedding night, was on site for the rehearsal dinner and went over EVERYTHING with us(and I mean everything!). It also gave us a chance to give a sneak peek of the view and the delicious food to our close friends and family! It definitely got everyone excited for the big day coming. — Sean was especially helpful on our wedding day, as it appears no one in my family remembered how to bustle my wedding dress! But thankfully, he did and I’ll never forget how helpful he was! Thank you Lombardi’s on the Sound for an incredible wedding day and night! We are planning on re-vising on our anniversary for brunch or dinner every year and are so glad we can re-live the great memories at the very place we said, «I do!»

Decided to try Lombardis for dinner. We arrived around 6:30pm and the place was pretty empty so we requested a table in a quiet spot. After about ten minutes at our table a group of 12 were placed at the table behind us for an apparent advanced reserved dinner. We dealt with it, but if the maître d’ knew a party of 12 was reserved for that table, why seat us there when we requested a quiet spot. The waiter was very friendly and never left us waiting. When they brought the butter to the table, we noticed two of the butter packets mixed in were open and partially used. The chicken parm was average tasting, I do compliment the chef on the Bolognese, however being offered salad or pasta with your entrée is ok if this is a pizzeria, but a Restaraunt like this should really give you both salad and pasta with your entrée. For the price of dinner you’d think it would have been a little better than that.

Food was delicious, large portions, good drinks. It is a beautiful view on the outside balcony, but I felt the outdoor dining chairs were super uncomfortable, they were like the plastic seats you buy at home depot =/. Other than that it was an overall good experience, I would def go back!

they should work on providing better service. our server rarely came by. it being a buffet i would think they would want to increase the bar tab and not everyone wanted mimosas. the gentleman maitre’d was courteous and tried. we had a family birthday party at their sunday brunch and it was partly my fault as i should have called in earlier. i thought they would be able to handle a simple request of delivering a surprise bottle of champagne. instead they told the birthday recipient it ‘had already been ordered’ after she had asked for one to be brought over. so there goes my surprise. right hand didn’t speak to the left. the food is fine. they could pare down a few of their salad offerings and offer half the choices but make them great. eggplant parmigiana was delicious. the buffet servers are all green, i would say very green, but they were sweet and tried. i remember when this was harbor hills country club, my sister had her wedding there. not much has changed as far as atmosphere or décor. views are obviously premium. there isn’t much in the way of grounds to walk around despite the golf course across the way. there’s a gazebo and a small plot of land for chairs to be set up for a ceremony. there’s no water/beachfront access. would definitely return for drinks on the deck.

A major disappointment. The service was atrocious. This one is a pet peeve of mine. Ordered a diet coke. Came in maybe a 4 oz. glass totally filled with ice. So about 2 oz. of soda for $ 3.00. I can almost accept that but when you ask for a refill and get charged another $ 3.00 that is totally outrageous. I asked the waitress in advance and she indicated there would be no additional charge. After I questioned her she said she didn’t understand me. Food was very, very ordinary.

This was my 2nd time here. Gorgeous day and even more gorgeous view. The food was excellent. Bread very good, salad with balsamic dressing was delicious. I had the chicken rollatini Marsala. Yum! The only issue I had was that the server, Chloe, although very good at her job, had the most annoying voice. Almost overly friendly. Over-doing it. My mom said«I’d like to hear how she talks to her boyfriend!» it just got kind of annoying, over the hour and a half we were there. But, she was a great server, regardless!

I’m giving this five stars for the view, Service, waterfront dining, selection of wine, an amazing Italian pasta dishes. We were seated very close to the water and we enjoyed every minute of it. Watching the sunset was just amazing. Once the sunset you can see Connecticut with the lights on all the way across it was very cool. You did not feel rushed they just let you sit and enjoy the bottle of wine. You get the time to talk with your partner about what you’re thinking of ordering. Water was refilled without even noticing. My husband ordered the penne alla vodka and it was just to die for. It was too bad we didn’t leave enough room for dessert. Will definitely be back again!

You are paying for the location and the view of the Long Island Sound. The food is over-priced Italianized American fare. The one gleaming gem in their arsenal is the Napolean: greatest dessert there is. They also serve excellent coffee. I recommend you skip the entrée and have some drinks, coffee and desserts on the veranda.
