I’ve eaten here 3 times. the first two times– I ignored the atmosphere and enjoyed my meal. I eat at the bar, as I’m often alone and come to Port Jeff on business. Dining at the bar can be a challenge– but the workers behind the bar there are inattentive and always socializing with other staff– which seems inappropriate and takes away from the experience. Tonight the 14 $ chilled shrimp were served warm– and my 30 $ pasta was served cold. My bill was 60+ dollars. I did mention the issues before I left– but my bill wasn’t adjusted at all. Between the lack of attention of the distracted staff– and the inconsistent food preparation– I’m all done with this place. Poor service, overpriced food for the effort and presentation.

I’ve eaten here many times and for 5 years has been my favorite restaurant in Port Jefferson. I will go back and try it again but my most experience on a recent Friday night was not good enough to justify the 4 stars I am giving here – for now. Started with a pleasant enough waitress who probably just needs some training on how to serve wine. Merlot is not an ice cold white wine… Pour a taste for the person that ordered the bottle, not 3 nearly full glasses leaving a quarter of the bottle left in the bottle before passing them out… Then we ran into a real problem. Entrees ranged from mediocre(lobster pasta dish was just bland), to disappointing(chicken parm was overcooked and dry), to inedible… orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe was so gritty I had to send it back. I’ve ordered this dish at this restaurant twice before and loved it. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen but final straw was experience after sending the orecchiette back. Yes the waitress comped the dish. Expected. Thanks. But that was it. No visit from manager or kitchen to ask what was wrong and see if something could be done to fix the problem. Again this was one surprisingly bad experience at a restaurant that I dearly love. I will be back but if next time is anything like last friday I guess I will have to move along. Good Italian food is just not that hard to find on Long Island.

Excellent meal, our second visit. I had the sole and shrimp dinner and the mussels app. Waiter was attentive and knew the menu well.

We went to Port Jeff on Wednesday for my birthday. Although we had many choices for dinner we went to Ruvo because of their fabulous reputation. We were greeted by Yvonne at the front desk and she was very friendly and accommodating. We did not make a reservation and the restaurant was packed, yes on a Wednesday. We went to the bar to wait for our table. The bartender Kevin was really nice and suggested us some menus. We were very comfortable and decided to eat at the bar. The wine list was better than any restaurant I’ve seen on Long Island and the food was phenomenal. We started with the veal meatballs and the Calamari. We had the Shell Steak, Spaghetti Fruitti Di Mare(lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels) and dessert. This was the great night with great food, wine and service. I will be back soon and I highly recommend Ruvo.

Went earlier this month for restaurant week and it was fantastic! Great menu selection and the food is awesome. Can’t beat the prices for the top quality food you get. Place was packed and it was not that long of a wait. Love this place!

Just had the worst experience ever. Was cursed at from the mgr. From something that had nothing to do with us, after spending over $ 350. To be cursed out by some female mgr telling us they dont need our money. She should of adressed what ever the problem was and handled it. Dont yell at everyone. Never will ho back and will let everyone I know to boycott that place.

The food here is always good, but the service is just lacking. When we arrived, the hostess was hanging out at the bar. We awkwardly stood there for what felt like forever until she finished gossiping. Then we sit down, only to not be offered the drink menu or the specials until we prompted her. Our water glasses were never refilled and no one came to check on us during our meal. The waitress just felt very apathetic and for such a nice place I expected more. Of course, they give us our bill before we are even finished eating. 3 stars for great food and ambiance.

If you want a great fine dining experience in Port Jefferson where tourism is really big and lots of places to eat, I highly recommend going to Ruvo Restaurant. I went to Ruvo for my birthday dinner with my family and I had a wonderful experience. The food was spectacular and the service was superb. For appetizer I had the Wild Mushroom Flatbread, for entrée a Lamb Shank with Spinach and for dessert I had the Harvest Apple Fritters. I could not have asked for a better birthday dinner. It really shows that both management and staff work very hard to make their customers feel welcome and have a wonderful time at Ruvo.

Nice place for lunch in Port Jeff. Convience located near public parking lots behind Main Street. I had the braised short ribs flat bread and it was delicious.

What? $ 26 for TORTELLINI in a CREAMSAUCE? Honey, I better expect some prosciutto or a drizzle of some high quality olive oil on top for me to believe that’s worth $ 26. Alright, maybe the 2-star rating is a bit, exaggerated given the fact that this place used to be much better? From what I understand? 3+ years ago this place was your destination spot for a romantic, upscale, 5-star quality dinner. Now, this place… To me… Is equivilent of Olive Garden, maybe Carraba’s if you’re thinkin’ overall dining experience. I’d consider this place a good, homey-feel Italian restaurant. A place to bring your 8-person family on a weeknight. Bring the screaming kids too, they’d fit right in. I DONOT, however, will ever, consider this place a high end intimate dinner destination. And I don’t appreciate how OVERLYPRICED this place is. $ 36 for a fillet of fish… Thirty. Six. Someone explain why a fillet of sea bass needs to be the highest ticketed thing on the menu. Why? Plates are beat up, wine glasses have ‘Ruvo’ engraved in them(cheesy I know), I even witnessed the woman sitting next to me put her feet up on the chair next to her the entire meal. MANNERSANYONE? Food, like I said. Good. But not nearly for the price you pay. Idk, not worth it in my opinion. I’d try the newer place next door, whatever it’s called.

Going to make this short as possible**** really nice atmosphere! Makes you feel comfortable yet casual from the ambiance. They’re lunch specials are great! 10 bucks for a great sandwhich and amazingly seasoned fries(along with other delicious things on the menu!!). Great appetizers too!!! The bar is also a nice area of Ruvo to chill in! Great beers! Very friendly staff, everyone working very polite and fast service. Always happy at ruvos.

The ambiance is terrific. Service was good, however the food was just alright. Or okay for me anyway. I had heard what a great lunch they serve so maybe I was expecting more. The portion size was a bit small, but so was the price tag. The average lunch dish was $ 15 or less. So it goes to show, most times you get what you pay for. Not sure how dinner would be, but I would be willing to give it another try.

BYOBeware!!! First the meal: Very good. Meatball Flatbread appetizer was tasty. Entrees of Eggplant Rolatini and Sausage Occhietti were solid as well. Atmosphere: Incredibly noisy. I could barely hear my dates’ voice . Service: Good, but Couldn’t communicate well due to volume of the din around us. Now the part that ticked me off: Ruvo has a BYO wine policy. Yay. We bring our own wine and leave the remnant behind. On the bill is an additional $ 20.00($ 20.000!!!) corking fee. No sever even touched the bottle, but we still intended on tipping more than enough. I can def understand a fee of some kind, but $ 20.00 adder to your bill is an insult to your intelligence. I deducted a star for feeling like I got ripped off.

One word: OVERPRICED! I had better«Italian» dishes from a pizzeria. The service on the other hand was good.

Thank you LongIslandRestaurantWeek, without you, I may have overlooked Ruvo for a while and who knows where I may have wound up instead. I really apreciate it, truly, Thank you. Nowhere else would I have rather been last night. Italian was just what I was in the mood for. Welcome to Ruvo, formerly the Printers Devil, where the devil has certainly been kicked out and Ruvo atmosphere embraced. With an extensive wine list and a small hint of what is resembled in their name, you get the slight hint of what you may or may not know about Ruvo Italy. This province is known for their wines, and rich agriculture in growing olives. So when you notice a few nice touches like the wine, and use of olives served with the bread, you get a sense of why it is named«Ruvo.» Not a single complaint about the delicious food, however I would say the service by our waitress was pretty much non existent. Don’t dwell on that though, because we were properly taken care of by the gracious host and a slew of other staff members. All in all a good night, good food, good wine; just not a place I can afford to go every week, but a nice treat.

Classic Italian fare in a casual-upscale environment. The food was very good and the portions were generous. Although, the prices were a bit steep. If I’m going to pay $ 25 – 30 for a pasta dish I want it to knock my socks off. I definitely enjoyed my meal but I would probably shop around next time I’m in the area. My guess is that I could probably find the same quality meal for much less elsewhere.

I had such high hopes for Ruvo and I hate to say this it was kinda meh. It was my Aunt’s surprise birthday and we all came here. We were a party of 14 I believe and it was a lot left to be desired. Happy Hour was nice and I got myself two glasses of Prosecco for less than $ 15 with tip. That I’m happy about. What I’m not happy about is that we had 7:30p reservations and didn’t leave Port Jefferson until after 11p because we were there until that time. Any other time I wouldn’t have minded but I had been up since 6:15a as I had to work all day and work the following day. A majority of us ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. I hate to say this but my appetizer was far more delicious than my entrée. My dessert I brought home was meh and my entrée leftovers are still waiting to be eaten. At this point they might just wind up trashed. I ordered the Roasted Corn Chowder as my appetizer(it was the special soup) and Short Ribs for entrée. I can’t even remember what I brought home for dessert. So super duper über disappointing Ruvo. I wanted to like you a lot but you just fell short.

Wow, wow, wow! I usually like to visit a place a few times so that I can leave a fair review, but one visit to Ruvo and my socks were knocked off. And you just cannot beat their lunch for the price, amount and quality of food. Took my mom and a friend for lunch today to use a gift card I had been given for my birthday. We started with the calamari appetizer to share, which was fresh, lightly breaded and very tender. My mom ordered the shrimp scampi over risotto and it was delish. My friend ordered the eggplant rollatini, and although I didn’t try it she raved about it. It looked great and it was a large portion. The marinara sauce on the side of pasta was the same that came with the calamari appetizer and it was very good. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese which came with a nice salad of mesculin greens. I spotted a tiny piece of lobster(the«thumb» part of the claw meat) and took a bite. It was VERY fishy tasting. I spotted another larger hunk of lobster(this time from the main part of the claw) and tasted it. It also was VERY fishy tasting and very stringy and tough. I wasn’t sure if I was imagining it(although I do eat and enjoy a fair amount of lobster) so I had my mom taste the second larger and final piece of lobster. She agreed that it was very fishy tasting and stringy. She chewed it for quite a while and couldn’t even break it down enough to swallow so she disposed of it in a napkin. Now. I know this is a very popular dish at Ruvo and lots of people rave about it so I’m sure I just got a bad batch and I’m not holding that against them. In addition I am generally not a complainer and rarely send food back but the fishy taste permeated the entire dish. So when the server asked if everything was ok I just had to politely tell her. She was apologetic and offered to either have the dish made over or get me something completely new. I opted for something completely different, the short rib over risotto that she recommended earlier, because I didn’t want to take a chance the replacement lobster mac would be bad too. I was so happy I went with her recommendation, the short rib was amazing. It wasn’t fatty and the dish wasn’t greasy like can be the case with short ribs. They were fork-tender without being dry. The risotto made my mouth water and I may have drooled a tad. Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!

My fiancé and I went to Ruvos this past Friday for my birthday Dinner. Our experience as always was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet, and everyone was so pleasant. We had an oyster and shrimp dish as an appetizer which was Amazing. And then had Chilean sea bass, and Shrimp and scallops with pesto risotto. YUMYUMYUM. Our waitress recommend dishes and was knowledgeable on the menu. Even recommend a great beer for my fiancé! I had mentioned it was birthday and at the end of the meal the restaurant offered a free dessert and even put a candle in it! It was such a sweet gesture and the crème brûlée was delicious.
