This is a very reasonable and comfortable restaurant. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable considering that seafood is usually pricey. The sampler platter appetizer is a good value and a great way to try different things. The fried calamari was excellent, the crab cakes were good and the baked clams were OK. The lobster roll was large and came with perfectly crispy French fries but the lobster roll itself was OK and not a standout. I might try a simple steamed lobster next time to highlight the fresh seafood. I would go back to a reasonable family friendly meal.

Price is very reasonable but the dish we ordered were not very satisfying. We went for lunch and had the lobster lunch special and mussel appetizer w Manhanton clam chowder. Mussel didn’t seem to be that fresh. Service was better than the food.

Took some fresh swordfish home for dinner yesterday. Price was reasonable(for swordfish anyway) and it grilled up real nice. As an added bonus, all of the pieces were skinned already, saving me a prep step on a Friday night. Can’t beat it!

Food was great. Staff was friendly. We were seated right away. Dessert was delicious. Their Canjun seafood was good, not as spicy as I liked, I added hot sauce. Though it had a great kick to it. I like things extra hot and spicy. Good food for a good price!

Lorraine P. My favorite place to eat in Port Jefferson. Just two blocks from Mather Hospital they offer seafood with that«Right off the dock» taste! They have seafood specialty nights and also an early beer and half price appetizer night. Moderately priced, so bring your appetite! Check out the Tuesday all you can eat crab legs; the Wednesday all you can eat shrimp; and early Sunday half prices beers and appetizers! Bön appetite!

Had a late dinner here and it was awful. Fried flounder was all drird. out and burned on edges. Corn on cob was all wrinkled and white. Awful service too. Waitress had an attitude with us. Never asked if we wanted another glass of wine. They took my dinner off, which was good. They gave me a few shrimp in place of the flounder, but they were all chewy and hard. Not cheap in here. So disappointed.

Mediocre at best. Not crazy about atmosphere. Sort of cafeteria like. Good was good, not the best, service was ok.

My sister, son, and I had another amazing lunch here today. The food is always delicious and satisfying and the staff is very attentive and friendly. This is by far one of my favorite places for the best seafood!

Save yourself a trip and some money, DON’T GO! Went a couple of weeks back, since I don’t drive and I wanted to take my dad out for some nice dinner around the house. First we were seated into a nice booth table, around 5ish or so, before it got packed, our waitress serving our table was very rude and aggressive, I usually give excuses for rude people, but this one was just uncooperative. My dad ordered something and exactly ONE minute later we called the waitress to ask about another item on the menu, before we could say anything she tells us that she«already put the order in, so…» So I asked politely, is there anyway we could change it, and defensively enough she said«no, I already put it in, so I can’t change it» Never mind, that wasn’t the only issue at hand. I ordered the lobster roll, which was honestly tasty, but my father ordered the fish garden* which had no seasoning or flavor in it whatsoever. Anyway, I don’t recommend this place based on my opinion and experience. *can’t remember the exact name of the dish, but I was pretty sure it had the word garden in it.

Very friendly local restaurant in Port Jefferson. They always have a great menu and specials changing daily. Staff are very nice and helpful and fast. The place inside is well decorated and always clean. I’m always satisfied with whatever we get. Usually get the lobster specials and always leave stuffed.

I really like this place. Whenever we have eaten here we have not been disappointed. They have my favorite beer on tap, Two Roads Double IPA — so I love that. Space is really nice, typical seafood restaurant décor. There is a fish market attached which is kind of neat. Prices are pretty down to earth compared to the shakedown that is Manhattan Seafood. Lobsters are reasonably priced. They do great Steamers and Mussels. Oysters are farmed Blue Points so don’t expect to be blown away. The one complaint I have is the fish and chips: I got it once, chips were good but the fish, I looked at it closely and realized that it came straight out of a bag. No doubt. Not acceptable when there is fresh seafood on the premises. Service is good, they are mainly High School students who do a good job. When we are in the area we usually stop here. Solid 4 stars.

Went for all you can eat crab legs on Tuesday and it was great. My mom and I stuffed our faces Til we nearly had to be rolled out of there. The lobster bisque was decent but lacking actual lobster and full of potato. Pretty good service. We had an overall good time and left more than satisfied. Not exactly five star worthy but I’m a tough critic. I would definitely go back though.

Amazing lobster house. Perfect for Oysters! They even have this oyster wine that restores 100 oysters PERBOTTLE into NYC’s harbor. It’s delicious. Great atmosphere. Welcoming staff. Definitely go if you’re in Port Jefferson.

Pj Lobster House is a solid Port Jeff restaurant thats been around for some time that serves exceptional seafood to its patrons. The service is really friendly, if your extremely hungry and really don’t know what to eat all of the waitresses know the menu inside out and can lead a hungry man in the right direction. For starters the bake clams are extremely fresh. The crab cakes were a bit too seasoned but you can always depend on the firecracker calamari. For entrees the cast iron combo and the salmon pinwheel are both must try dishes in the menu. The combo comes with swordfish, scallops and shrimp cooked in a spicy cajun seasoning with a side of your choice. The salmon pinwheel is basically a «stuffed salmon» but wrapped instead stuffed inside the salmon. What grabbed our attention in this place was their dessert menu. Most seafood restaurants don’t carry a menu that has a variety off excellent choices. If you go do not leave without trying the fried cheesecake bites and Juniors cheesecake chocolate explosion, it is absolutely out of this world.

My husband, daughter and I ate lunch at the PJ Lobster house today. We are visiting from Los Angeles and we were looking for fresh seafood. I found that this restaurant had the better reviews in the Port Jefferson area. We enjoyed fresh oysters, king crab legs, clam chowder, lobster bisque, fish & chips, scallops & shrimp fettuccine and finished off the meal with a cookie topped with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious and the seafood tasted like it just came out of the ocean. I was also impressed at how clean the restaurant and bathrooms were, which is very important to me. We will definitely return on our next visit to see our family on Long Island. You will not be disappointed.

Can’t help but love seafood especially from a local town where I live but the staff and food are great. My absolute favorite place to eat lobsters, especially when they have the all you can eat on holidays. So far I have gone in the 4 past holidays and the amount of lobsters ate are slowly increasing from 6 to 8 total. Every single time I had gone, had a different waitress and they were all pleasant. Great dining atmosphere for the seasoned food lover, couples, families and large groups. This place is definitely under rated. I would highly recommend this place anytime. Must try the Tuesday night special — All you can eat Snow Crab legs.

Everything from the service to the food to the décor was wonderful! A friend and I just finished lunch here and it was just so good! The server sat us and she was so extremely sweet. I ordered oysters on the half shell along with lobster mac and cheese and my friend got a fried flounder sandwich. Both of our meals came with a delicious garden salad. The oysters were great! Came with two huge lemon slices and sauce and they very tasty(sometimes they are bland or over watery!) My mac & cheese was PACKED with lobster meat! I couldn’t get over the ratio of pasta to lobster! The cheese was also very delectable, the only thing I would change is the type of pasta. It was served with classic elbow noodles but they bake it with bread crumbs on top(you get the option of baked or not baked) which totally give it the texture it was missing. My friend said he loved his sandwich as well. His came with a nice size portion of coleslaw along side. Now this is something most people may look over but I don’t know, maybe I have OCD. We both ordered a water lemon and when our server asked is if we wanted more she kept our old glasses on the table and brought us new glasses with lemon in it! Call me crazy but just love that! When we left the server wished us a great day, she was really so nice and the man standing at the fish counter also said good bye with a friendly wave. Great customer service can make or break an experience! Thanks PJ lobster house for a great lunch!

Crab legs and lobster were great. Clam chowder was too creamy and not enough clam. Mussels and steamers were alright. Service was good.

While in college I used to live around the block from this place. Needless to say, my college budget didn’t afford me the opportunity to eat here. Now that I’m all grown up, I decided to give this place a shot when I was in the area. First, the price of everything was pretty reasonable considering I’m used to paying NYC or Hamptons prices for seafood. The lobster roll was fantastic, huge chunks of lobster, no small pieces here. On top of that, the lobster salad was seasoned just right with just the right amount of mayo. Fish and chips were pretty tasty too. Highly recommended for the lobster roll if you’re in the area or willing to trek here from the usual Hamptons eateries.
