Wonderful dining experience. Not a traditional pizza place but has excellent pizza and other items. Staff was extremely pleasant

I gave it another chance and I wanted to update my review. They’ve pretty much addressed all of the prior issues(too much sauce, undercooked, etc) and have started making really awesome pizzas! I got 3 pizzas to go — Holy Shitake, House Special, and pepperoni — and everyone loved them. Absolutely no complaints. Friendly staff, order ready on time, cooked properly — just fantastic. I would’ve given 5 stars, but it’s very pricey.

The food tasted good but the service was awful. There were only 4 people in my party but multiple tables who arrived after us received their food, ate, and left while we were still waiting for our food. Our waiter kept telling us it would be just a few more minutes and then avoided our table entirely. We were there a total of 2 hours. I don’t plan on returning anytime soon.

.The drinks are great, if you order a double for a dollar more. But, the bar service is poor if you’re not a 20 something, male or female. The bartenders spend more time socializing than paying attention to needs. We’ve come on some days where the bar is sticky and not wiped down. The pizza is expensive and just adequate.

Have to echo many of the previous comments. **** Pretzels are not really pretzels but pizza dough(do not order these) **** Service can be slow when they are busy **** I find it to be overpriced in comparison to similar pizza places It has been open for only a few months locally, but being a chain style restaurant, I don’t see the prices going down ever. I’d say try it and make your own determinations.

Have enjoyed this place a few times before. Though tonight wasn’t one of them the food was descent and the service was horrible. Had to ask bartender twice for everything we ordered. Overall nice place but tonight was a nightmare. Table outside that was behind us was never cleared in the one and half hours we were there.

Ate there twice and both times service was extremely slow. Second time was comp for slow first time. Food was ok, servers were friendly and apologetic for slow food output. It is not good enough to return to.

This place has an adorable atmosphere. The hostesses were very friendly. The whole staff had delightful attitudes. The pizza was delicious! It was fresh the crust was yummy. The pizza did take a bit to come out. We did wait a little to get our check. Other than that, this was an entirely pleasant experience!

Called in a phone order on a busy saturday night. They were ready in the exact amount of time they said it would take. Got them both right too. Sometimes it is the little things a place does that sets them apart from the rest. Will always come back here for pizza even if it is a little more money.

This was my first time to Mellow Mushroom… But I’ll definitely be back. Food was well prepared and flavorful. Service was good, attentive and helpful. I had the Mellowterranean and brought home the chicken calzone for my husband. My friend had the House Calzone. Great lunch!

Being raised in northern NJ I was spoiled with NY pizza and wonderful food. I’ve lived in many places and no where has compared to home when it came to pizza until now. The two best pizzas I ever had the pleasure of tasting was in NYC and just outside of Philly. NYC is known for it’s thin cripsy chewy crust and its high quality toppings and stringy gooey cheese. Philly is known for having a thicker fluffier crust, less crispy and more chewy with lots of cheese and fresh toppings. We had the chance to visit Mellow Mushroom while living in Ohio and never got around to it and always regretted it. When we moved to Daytona Beach last year we noticed them building this place and we were very excited to get another chance, one we wouldnt pass up this time around. We waited a couple weeks to let the kinks sort themselves out and then dined here two nights ago and were thrilled by the service and the food. We ordered the Thai chili wings & a 16″ pizza; half House special(Red sauce base with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, Applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms, black olives, Roma tomatoes, green peppers and onions. Topped with extra mozzarella.) and half Holy Shiitake(Olive oil and garlic base, Shiitake, button and Portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella and MontAmoré cheeses. Drizzled with garlic aioli and black truffle oil. Garnished with fresh chives and shaved Parmesan.) In short… this is the best damn pizza I’ve ever ever ever have had. EVER! More specifically the mushroom side was absolutely Heavenly and I’m not afraid(nor ashamed) to admit that I made a total pig of myself. The crust is a perfect mixture of NYC and Philly crust… it’s soft and fluffy while also having a slight crisp to it and just the right amount of chewy. The sauce is more like Philly, leaning towards deep dish; fresh chunky tomatoes with enough hints to spices and herbs. They use spring water to make their dough and they’ll remind you of this while your nummin’ away; it really shows and it’s makes for an unforgettable pizza. The price is pretty unforgettable as well. at $ 25 for our pizza it was hard to stomach at first(this is the reason we passed it up while living in Ohio) but after tasting it I really believe it’s a fair price. I’m a frugal person who has an even more frugal husband and he mentioned while we were there that he would happily pay $ 30 for it every week and so would I! I really cant be more excited about going back in the near future. The wings were very tasty too, small but really tasty. They only use all natural ingredients so you wont find those huge steroid filled hunks here. These taste better, more natural tasting and softer meat. Next time we’ll try some dessert.

My cousin and I went last night and were disappointed. ‘Pretzels’ we’re not pretzels at all but pizza dough shaped like pretzels. Pizzas came out cold. Beer was good. But we can get just as good beer at Tomoka Brewery with an actual pretzel! Won’t be back!

We were excited to hear about the restaurant opening. We waited until the crowds died down and went to try for ourselves. We had already heard mixed reviews about this location. When we arrived we were told we could self seat in the bar at the high tops. Our waitress asked if we had been helped yet. We hadn’t so she went to get us menus. Another woman brought us our menus but told us we weren’t supposed to be sitting there. We explained that’s not what we were told. She informed us that we were misinformed but that we could stay there. I just found it odd that she would go out of her way to tell us we couldn’t sit there the way she did and then tell us that she would correct who told us. A few quick observations… The lighting was odd in there. The floor was very slick. The décor didn’t seem to flow or make sense and the back bar was very sparse. I totally get it if they are corporate regulated with the number and types of liquor they can order but at least fill up the empty spaces and/or use it for light storage. 3 – 4 bottles per large shelf did not look good. The menu was ok. We had heard it was pricey but weren’t that impressed with the options so we ordered sandwiches. My husband said the jerk chicken was spicy but other than that it did not impress. I had the Italian. The bread was good! But honestly Domino’s has a more impressive Italian sub than that one. I can’t say enough that our waitress was very kind and attentive. However, as we left, there was a group of 4 or 5 employees standing at the front counter. Not one of them looked our way, said thank you or good bye. Overall we were not impressed. At least we can say we gave it a try but based on what we saw and experienced we have no intention of going back.

I really like Mellow Mushroom have been to many other locations — Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Clearwater and always have had a great experience… This location hasn’t been open for very long I understand everyone is still learning and getting into the swing of things. We ordered two calzones to go one of which we added a ‘premium meat’ to and a meatball trio.($ 35) When we got home with the calzones I realized that the ‘premium meat’ I added onto my calzones that was $ 5 extra was not on my calzone and it seemed as though the dough wasn’t cooked because it was extremely soggy. I wouldn’t have cared about this if the added meat wasn’t so expensive, hell if the whole order wasn’t so expensive — I called the restaurant and they were happy to replace it, told me to come in 15 – 20 minutes to pick up the new calzone. Went in 20 minutes later and ended up waiting in the restaurant for another 20 minutes for the replacement! At this point I wasn’t even hungry anymore… A woman who I’m assuming is the manager(she did not introduce herself) came over and apologized saying it was the growing pains of opening a new business, I get it. BUT maybe express a little more concern because to me no one really seemed to care too much about it. Needless to say I probably won’t be coming back to this location again. I really love Mellow Mushroom and this experience just put a bad taste in my mouth. Word of advice, check your to go orders before you leave!

I was extremely excited to hear we were finally going to get a mellow mushroom location in port orange because of all the good things I have heard from friends about other locations and I was happy to get to see what all the hype is about. With a cool hip atmosphere and an abundance of drink and food selections, this is a place you should check out. We had great service and the staff was very attentive to our large party. We had one of there signature pizzas the mellowteranian and it was a nice twist on the average pizza but at $ 25 for a large pie the prices are a little too steep for a big family. That said I am happy to say I will be going back but when family is in town to show off this new addition to our neighborhood but for day to day I’ll stick to my local Italian restaurant.

Great spot! It’s definitely the best-looking Mellow Mushroom I’ve ever been to… very creative/inviting décor. I’d describe it as surfer/biker chic. Either way, it’s super cool. Service was top-notch, beer selection was vast and food was fresh and YUMMY. We sat at the bar with the garage door open to outside which gave us a awesome breeze and view of green vines hanging down surrounding the outside patio. Great spot for grub and brews… we’ll definitely be back.
