Their food is absolutely delicious. I have tried their Philly cheesesteak that is heavenly and their half chicken tastes like it was fresh off the grill. I also love the vegetable options instead of starchy food.

This place is great. Had the ribs last night and we all agreed they were delicious. And different – marinated in garlic and wine and then grilled. Rice and beans were excellent as well, and their fries are nice and crisp and not greasy. Delightful people, too. Prices are excellent. It’s a small place, with just four or five tables, so take out for any real party or special occasion.

I ordered the half a chicken with rice and try’s all I got was a half a chicken with a bunch of fries and no rice and didn’t notice until I got home. My fault for not checking, but seriously don’t forget the rice!

Finally, a truly delicious restaurant in PSL! The Unilocalers got this one so right! My friend and I came in for lunch, and eventually we rolled out, filled to the brim with great food and toting enough leftovers to feed an army. We both got exotic soft drinks to begin — I got a Brazilian soda that tasted like Vernor’s(anybody else remember that? Like a mildly different form of ginger ale?), and my friend got a passion fruit soda. The couple that run the restaurant are so lovely! They were super friendly and very helpful, and walked us through the menu. We took the recommendation of Brazilian linguica and fried yucca for an appetizer, and OMG! Mouthgasm! The linguica was soooooooo good — just fantastic! And I’m not generally a fan of yucca, and this was tender and tasty. We followed up by sharing the ½ chicken, ½ rib BBQ plate with plain rains instead of rice. I swear, I know she said it fed 2 – 3 people, but it could more easily feed 4. It was a mountain of food! The chicken was so flavorful and tender and moist. Aw yeah! The ribs were a bit tougher, but still so great, with such great flavor. The fries were perfect, and the plaintive were super yummy. The best part — I get to look forward to leftovers!

Bountiful dishes that are jam packed with flavor and made with quality ingredients, while washing it down with a choice from their wine and beer selection, at a comfortable family environment, really takes it home!!! You really can’t go wrong dining here. I guarantee you will be satisfied with the service and food. Don’t forget to try their coffee or expresso after your food.

Great service. Huge portions. Ribs were bite through and chicken very tasty. Portuguese BBQ is a bit different from Carolina but just as tasty.

‘Portuguese-style BBQ? Hmmm, never had that before.’ That was the thought that crossed through my head when I saw Pit Stop BBQ on Unilocal. Then I noticed the overwhelming number of stars that it had received and seriously thought I had been missing-out on something revolutionary for my entire life. As such, we couldn’t help but call an audible on our original dinner plans to get seafood and check this place out. Food: Be forewarned, their BBQ platters are large enough to split with at least one other person(probably 2 though). We ordered the rib and chicken combo platter with the fried bananas(plantains, I think) and french fries(I know, boring). Let me start by saying everything was good. It was not nearly as mind-blowing and revolutionary as a 5 star review would warrant — especially that many; but I can see why the locals may like it. Giant portions, for relatively inexpensive. Ribs: These were by far the best item on the table. Seemed like they were marinated for less than 24 hours, pre-baked, then finished on the grill. I’d be shocked if someone told me otherwise as that is the flavor profile I got from them. They were tender, and had a good ‘pull’ to them. So many people want ‘fall off the bone’ ribs. That is not how ribs should be cooked. That means the ribs are OVERcooked. Pit Stop struck the balance between tender, meaty, and chewy perfectly. In terms of flavor, the marinade was nice, but it honestly tasted like a marinade from a bottle. I know, that is terrible to say; but I feel like I have tasted this flavor before — at a State Fair or some place similar. Not saying it was bad, just unoriginal in flavor. Despite that, finishing the ribs off on the grill is what made the ribs so good. That smokiness and char tied everything together. Overall, they get a merit for execution on the ribs — because they executed perfectly. Other than that, they were pretty average and unspectacular. Not 5 star worthy for me.(4⁄5) Chicken: Same marinade, same flavor profile, same style of cooking. Although, the chicken was on the dry side. It required hot sauce for moistness where the ribs did not.(3⁄5) French Fries: They were French Fries; but they were piping-hot and crispy — no sogginess at all. That is important and enough places screw up frozen French fries for me to warrant giving them(4⁄5) Fried Bananas: Not the best I’ve had(Cham Gaucha, San Antonio or Texas De Brazil, Anywhere), but they are a nice palate cleanser for me. Cuts all the salty and savory with a nice sweet bite.(4⁄5) Food: 4⁄5 Service: This is where they shine. They GENUINELY care about the food they are producing and the customer experience. They were attentive, and were hyper-vigilant about making sure everything was great. As an added bonus, they truly cook everything to order. It was all hot, and fresh. They SINCERELY thanked us on the way out. Great, family-rn establishment by people who care a lot more than the average business owner. Service: 5⁄5 Atmosphere: A lot to be desired. It is a new business, and maybe it isn’t in their budget, but this place has ZERO ambiance. Hard to describe. Just no presence of style or care in the furnishings or décor. That said, it was super clean and inviting. I am seriously teetering between a 2 and a 3, but am going to go with 3 because of how inviting the place feels. Atmosphere: 3⁄5 Price: Very good value. About $ 18 bucks for a BBQ platter that could easily serve me, my wife, and my daughter. That is about $ 6 per person. They are very generous with the portions. Price: 4⁄5 Final Thoughts: Honestly, if it wasn’t for the outstanding service from business owners who really do care about their food and the experience you have, this really wouldn’t be more than 3 stars. Though, the cumulative effort of their service team, coupled with a great value just bumps everything up to a 4 for me. I strongly recommend checking this place out, but it will not blow you away with flavor or innovation in terms of the BBQ platters. I would, however, be interested in trying some of their other dishes next time.

Hidden gem in a strip mall. Delicious Portuguese and Brazilian food. Grilled meats are a house specialty but everything we tried was good. Owners are very personable, happy to answer questions, make suggestions, and cook your meal to order. Would stop in often if we lived nearby!

Come Hungry, bring help or do as I did and take home a doggie bag. I ordered the BBQ Combo(chicken & ribs) and was not disappointed. The restaurant is nothing fancy, only 3 tables, it’s basically a takeout joint but don’t let that fool you. The food is EXCELLENT! and service is terrific. The owner/Chef served my food and immediately after my first bite asked me if everything was to my liking. Where else do you get that kind of attention? One other thing the owner is a Veteran. Please support our Veterans! We as a nation don’t do enough for them.

Okay so I’m from TX here on vacation, and of course I think BBQTX style! Wrong! Think Brazilian Steakhouse in a smaller form. I of course got the chicken and ribs combo and it was more than amazing. The Ribs were probably some of the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the Picanha, and thought it was really good as well. And the portions are crazy! My husband, child, and I all could have eaten from the chicken ribs combo. The owner is a really cool guy also wit the cutest son that gave me a menu when I walked in!!! Tried to convince him to bring one to Texas!!! For real!!! Rarely do you find a place on Unilocal with 5 stars and I am happy to say this place lives up to the hype!!!

Warning… this is Change Your LIFE Food! I have to first mention that I am the type of Unilocaler that usually doesn’t write reviews(don’t judge me lol) but when I am impressed I gotta take to time out to let the people know! Seriously this is that spot that when you try it you have no clue how they are still flying under the radar. So my family is relatively new to the area and they are big proponents of chains like Pollo Tropical. I on the other hand am the type of foodie that likes the tried and true franchises but also likes to roll the dice with the hopes you might find that one whole in the wall that you can rave about to your friends and family. Well I am ex-static to say that doing my research with the reviews on Unilocal paid off! Can you say WINNING! I had the chicken & ribs combo and as other reviewers have testified it is «immaculate”(I don’t choose this word lightly). The chicken & ribs were fresh, sooo juicy, tender, and POPPIN with flavor. You don’t need sauce seriously. The yellow rice was flavorful and complimented the meal nicely and the fries were above average. I will be trying the black beans soon but I am sure if its anything like the rest of the food I tried I will be happy with my experience. What really sealed the experience was speaking with the owners, they all were so genuinely engaging and welcoming. Will be back this week for sure. Your welcome in advance.

Excellent grilled meats! This is not a southern-style bbq experience. It’s grilled and gotta say absolutely delicious fare! Had ribs abs chicken– huge portion for two big eaters no problem:). Taste was amazing and both were very good. Chicken was moist and flavorful while ribs were medium soft with crispity edges as the fat was seared– really really good– I am a huge fan of ribs and these are super! Prices are very good. Location is in strip plaza — it’s nothing fancy so if you are looking for date night ambience this isn’t the place. Good food and owners were wonderful. They also have a delicious beer named Sangres which is a lovely lager that went perfect with our dinner choices. All in all a great eating experience.

Absolutely amazing food and awesome service. I’ve been here a few times with my family and each time we’ve had a great experience. The food is awesome– juicy, well-spiced chicken, great yellow rice and black beans, delicious fried yucca, and the steak and egg sandwich, my favorite, which is *mindblowingly* good. Not to mention that the portions are very generous, the desserts are great(try the rice pudding) and the owners are some of the most generous and nice folks you’ll ever meet; eat there and you’ll quickly learn that they truly care about their customers. It’s a shame that I live ten hours away, but hey, it’s not like this place is going anywhere.

First time trying Portuguese BBQ and I have to say it was delicious. We got the half chicken half ribs combo that comes with rice and fries. This is enough food for a small village! Two of us could not even come close to finishing the entire plate. We got a side of beans and it was totally worth it. I could eat the beans alone. Tried the flan and it was truly authentic and home made. This is not your authentic American BBQ full of sauce but the meat is juicy and and flavorful! Go with an open mind and try something new you won’t be disappointed. I am coming back to try the picañha steak very soon. Staff was very friendly and the place has a really laid back atmosphere!!!

Found this place while passing through on our way back to Jacksonville from Palm Beach. Definitely glad we stopped. Awesome food. We had the picanha with rice and beans and it was as good, if not better, than anything we’ve had up north… the flavors were great. Owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome the minute we walked through the door! We’ll definitely be back!

I’m glad we found this place! I am Brazilian and the food reminds me so much of home. The food is awesome!!! The owner is an Army vet like my husband and gave us a military discount which we didn’t expect. Im hoping they open another location in Jacksonville… otherwise we might have to move down here.
