I like this place, they make a mean espresso! We were out for a long bike ride on the Interurban Trail, and on the way back. just knew it was time for some Ice Cream. And then some coffee No, we didn’t get the ice cream here. that was across the street. Pay attention, this is a coffee shop! It’s kind of funky(in a good way) the way a coffee shop should be. not chain like at all. You can get service by walking up to the service window near the out door seating area. We didn’t do that. we had an ulterior motive to go inside… bathrooms! So the first floor is tiny with more than half the shop being work space. I ordered a double espresso and got an excellent and intense bit of coffee from the friendly dude behind the counter. The second floor offered plenty of seating(somewhat haphazardly, perfect!) in a comfortable manner. One bathroom to rule the world! So I waited.

Lovely location. Cute interior with a generous working upstairs for meetings. A decent baked goods selection. Coffee = blah. No care given to the quality of espresso they prepare.

This place is always short-staffed. God help you if there are more than 2 people in front of you because it will take FOREVER. And why is the price of a cup of coffee MORE at the counter than the«honor box?» The owner is not very friendly and the atmosphere seems dependent on her mood. Upstairs tables are always dirty. Biggest issue is cleanliness during food prep… They shouldn’t have the same person taking the money and then head over to make a sandwich– I thought staff who touched food directly had to wear gloves??? Self/serve coffee is empty much of the time. Sorry for the«downer» of a review but you can’t nickel and dime everything when the competition provides a better experience.

If you have plenty of time and enjoy a tepid cup of ho hum coffee, this is the place for you. I’ve never seen more than one person working here at a time, so the total number of customers that can be served within a reasonable period of time is also one. If there’s anyone ahead of you in line, you can forget about getting in and out quickly. They do have an honor system where you can pay for your coffee by dropping money in a can and helping yourself. However, the coffee is stored in inexpensive pump thermos, which guarantees two things:(1) The coffee will not be hot, and(2) the thermos will run out of coffee halfway through your cup and you’ll have to ask for more, or just settle for the flavor you DIDN’T really want in the first place. Want cream in your coffee? It’s there. Somewhere. You’ll have to figure out where, just like I did. The food is far from memorable. Honestly, the only reason for this place to exist is for hipsters to have a place to work.

Change of ownership has, unfortunately, changed the vibe of this coffee shop. The place has been stripped of its«personality.» So sad for Port Washington!

Java Dock is really the only coffee shop in Port. It’s such a cool layout, and the staff is always really nice! Recently under new ownership I am hoping for some great improvements. This place seemed to be hurting a couple of months ago. I went twice in the middle of the day to find the place closed because they had no help. Now with plenty of new staff members and added menu selections, I’m excited to visit more often. I own a local business and often meet with my clients here. It’s a perfect meeting grounds!

There’s no other option for decent coffee in Port Washington. Sure the staff is nice, then so am I. So why should you go there? There’s no other option for decent coffee in Port Washington.

Visiting for the weekend and found this lovely little shop after freezing at the breakwater. Very friendly and the selection to offer from are nice. The Frangelico flavored coffee is great!

UPDATED: Java Dock is now under new ownership, and accepts credit/debt cards. Their hours are at least consistent now and I always enjoy stopping in when they are open. The food is OK, but the coffee is still great!
