Very nice lunch spot right off Lake Michigan. We had the fried fish sandwich, which comes with potato chips. For an extra dollar you can get sweet potato fries, but we learned that too late! The fish was perch and delicious! The place itself is much like a coffee shop as the name would imply, so the ambience was a little bit lacking for the location. Service was fast and we had a cold local beer to wash down the fish. The beer was not on tap, but it is a coffee shop after all. A pleasant interlude to a nice ride along the Ozaukee trail!

Had a soy latte and fish sandwich, and BOTH were amazing! Went on a chilly day, so the centrally located fireplace was a great asset that day. Very cozy atmosphere, tasty food, and great service!

Nice to have another coffee shop in Port even though they don’t have their own coffee(They sell Colectivo). Friendly service, though sometimes a bit slow and the prices were a bit high. Mom loved the fish sandwich. She has had their summer sausage sandwich was very hardy, about 4 or 5 thick slice of summer sausage, two slices of cheese, and a generous slather of mustard on a pretzel bun. The sweet potato, black bean, and coconut soup warmed me up well but was pretty thin and couldn’t tell if it was homemade or not.

I have to say I love the atmosphere there, but the coffee is just ok. The fish sandwich is the best thing on the small menu. My problem was with the employees. Not very friendly the day I was there. I asked for a cup of plain coffee with a little honey in it. When he charged me 50 cents more than I expected, I asked why, had the price increased so much. He said the«honey» was 50 cents extra. I could not believe it. Everywhere else it is with the cream & sugar. He did not tell me there would be a charge for it. Ever since then, I have felt that they are ripping people off by not telling them there is a charge for every little thing, especially when you have multiple orders, you might not notice it.

Pricey. Upscale. Yuppies. Good place to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a sandwich while«the help» waxes your yacht.

Love Smith Bros. Favorite coffee shop in Port. Yummy muffins are a plus. Staff is great and a lovely location on Lake Michigan.

It’s a super cute environment in a great location – you would be hard pressed to find a better location in SEWI. The food is nice, albeit predictable, and it’s a clean, well-lighted place. But the coffee is Collectivo, meaning he owners probably don’t give a crap about coffee, and decided to open a coffee shop. Valentine. Anodyne. Anything. Not Collectivo. Lousy.

Very cozy and nice inside. But terrible hummus wrap, too dry. Also the starters are very over priced. Nice atmosphere but the food was a disappointment.

Dang, I feel stupid. I have lived in Port Washington for 7 years and just recently went to Smith Bros. Oh the great lunches I have missed… dummy! I’ve had two sandwiches there, and both were really good. The fish sandwich is probably the best fish sandwich I have ever eaten. It was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Add in really nice staff and this place is a winner. I am reserved with my 5 star ratings, but this is a place that would crack into that category for sure. I will have to go back several more times before I would do that, but it looks promising. Probably my only knock would be the small menu, but that is what you expect for a place like this(small coffeeshop/café). And if you can execute on the menu items this well, then I am not sure if you need more items anyways!

Very fun place to get a great sandwich, coffee or both. Great atmosphere and employees seem to be very nice. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a great wrap, turkey sandwich or fish sandwich.

It’s a great place for a quick coffee and if they ever leave Jave Dock just west of them are right there. But here the coffee is better. Dig?!

I love Smith Brothers, but i have to change my review, because a few weeks back you changed the way some of the drinks are made, and it affected my beloved white chocolate frappé. The new stuff doesn’t taste as good, it tastes gross and you raised the prices on the new one. I started going back to Starbucks, but as soon as you change it back to the old way, i will go back to 5 stars and even pay the extra $$ for the way things used to be done. My husband gets something different and he said his drink the last few times tasted terrible as well… Why do you have to change a good thing? I am not sure if it will affect your other customers, but you lost two customers by making changes that weren’t needed. I can understand the price increase if it was to keep the current products as is. but to increase the price and decrease the taste and value is no bueno Smith Brothers.

Had the fish sandwich with chips. Perch was good, would have been better with cheese, lettuce and a tomato… The americano made up for it :) Would be nice to see a larger selection of food choices. This place is next to Duluth Trading Co which is a pretty neat place as well. Direct access between the two businesses. Lots of lakefront to walk along on nicer days with a coffee or tea. Two hour parking available. I’ll be back :)

I was very surprised with this small town coffee shop! Went in for yet another soy latte, but was pleasantly surprised with their offering of both plain and vanilla soy– as well as almond milk! I got a Pecan Latte with almond milk and it was delicious. I also appreciated the Hummus Wrap being labeled as vegan! Definitely a gem of Port Washington. Update July 2014: Hemp milk is also an option and is delicious!

Same coffee roaster as Fiddleheads. Not the same service. The people are nice enough, but there’s no sense of urgency in getting you your order. And, just like their competition, they keep their coffee in cheap pump thermos containers. Coffee will not be hot. If you want cream, you have to ask for it, they’ll pull the carton out of the fridge, and wait for you to cream up before they put it back in. With all the money they spent building the place, you’d think they would out some effort into selling HOT coffee and some way to keep cream available for customers. The people are nice enough. It’s just not a place that’s about coffee. It’s not really about food either, which is probably why the selection is so limited and the proces so high. I drive right past them and their competition to get to Grafton and Starbucks, and I don’t even really like Starbucks. I just like it more than Smith Brothers. Shame.

Smith Bros. is great for Alterra fans! Its like a northern satellite of Milwaukee’s chain of excellent Alterra Cafes. 88.9 Radio Milwaukee was playing, Rishi tea was being served(made in Whitefish Bay) and there were a few Alterra baked goods available. I simply loved the croissant with cheese and smoky Nueske bacon. The décor half fishing shanty, half the modern look of Crate and Barrel. If you walk out the back door these is a deck with stools overlooking the harbor. I also appreciated the Bike rack right out front.
