Aladdin Finishers

Friendly, prompt, thorough, very helpful and excellent in all respects. Can’t say too much good about them. They restored my grandfather clock and gave a good reference to repair the clockworks, whose work was as good as their own.

When I met him, my husband had this dining table and chairs that belonged to his great-​grandmother. The table was usable but the chairs were totally trashed and barely holding together. The table went into our dining room and the chairs out to the garage.
I decided to have the chairs refinished as a birthday gift for him and selected Aladdin Finishers based on the one positive review on here. I dealt primarily with Steffens, who I believe is the owner, but don’t quote me. Steff was great. He was friendly, helpful and willing to explain exactly what needed to be done to my sad old chairs.
I took the cushions to Rose City Upholstery (recommended by Steff). Then Aladdin stripped, repaired, sanded, re-​veneered and finished the chairs, which took about 5 weeks or so. I picked them up today and was completely blown away. They look so amazing — like new furniture! Well, needless to say, my husband loves them. Family and history are important to him and he appreciates being able to use something and appreciate something that has been in his family for nearly one hundred years.
The chairs are gorgeous. We will be taking the table in to Aladdin as soon as possible! Thanks so much to them for making this dream come true.

i’m surprised to be the fist to review them. i took some pieces to them around 2006 to be repaired and cleaned up. antique chairs to be specific. this was when the father used to run the daily business there. i learned a lot about ben franklin (he’s a fan) and the famous wind storm of october 1960 something that day, in addition to talking about the actual chairs :).
now the son runs it and they just refinished a trunk that was built by a relative of mine over 100 years ago. it’s probably best categorized as high end folk art, quirky but solid and basic. they FAR exceeded my expectations. seriously, if you need an antique refinished it is not going to be an inexpensive endeavor either way you play it. you just have to decide if it’s worth several weekend hours of your life that you will never get back (and in my case i know i wouldn’t do the job THIS well) or just pony up and pay the pros. i hope they stay in the alberta area for a long time!
