Just ordered from here via Unilocal 24. I’m starving. 15 minutes later they tell me they can’t confirm my order because these people won’t pick up the phone. What kind of a Chinese takeout won’t answer? I’ve had it with these people. They are rude and slow in person, and the food is sketch. Im done here.

Ordered for delivery. They were on time, great food. Never dined at the location though. Great flavor — not too spicy.

I’m surprised Portland is so prissy about its Chinese food. When I’m homesick for New York style Chinese food, this feeds my soul. August Moon’s décor is dated and their hostess doesn’t suffer timewasters, but she’s busy running a great restaurant and it’s the food that matters.(She’s perfectly nice. I don’t know what other reviewers have been griping about.) You must get their Peking duck, the wonton soup and any fried rice. Some of the best reliable take-out in Portland.

WORSTSERVICEEVER. Arrived and waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken. Asked for 2 orders of Lo Mein with vegetable and tofu and had to clarify the order three times because the server couldn’t understand us. 30 minutes later she came back with the wrong order; 2 Tofu with Vegetable. When we told her immediately that the order was incorrect she proceeded to ask if we could read, and insult us and tried to make us feel like idiots. We sat in silent amazement. When I asked if she still wanted our service she said, «yes», but continued to argue with us. We got up, walked out, and never went back. Worst restaurant ever.

Good food. We ordered pineapple chicken and orange chicken for delivery. The food was good, not the best chinese I’ve ever had. The service was good and they were prompt and friendly.

A great choice for Chinese Takeout! We ordered Delivery for the Mongolian beef and sesame chicken. Both delicious and still warm when they were delivered to us. The delivery took over an hour but we did order it on a Saturday night. I will order from here again.

The friendliness and warmth coming from the lady that ask if you want to eat there or order to go, is just, so… lacking, and by lacking, I mean, she’ll shout it at you. Without a smile, as if, by walking in, not only have you offended her by your mere presence, you have offended her ancestors as well, for even wanting to try out their pseudo-Chinese food that is cooked in old cooking oil, you can taste the year. I, of Asian descent, thought I would be welcome here. Meaning, they would do me right. Apparently not. The order I got was missing a $ 9 item(an order of fried rice) and the beef just looked so sad, it doesn’t resemble any part of so called«beef», at all. I thought to myself, maybe they had an off day, which sometimes happen. So I tried them again today, and same treatment, and same greeting. The food, for $ 11 is not only mediocre, but under portioned, with a plastic divider to make it look like the container is bigger.(I posted a picture). Two visits are enough for me to make a review, I think. And I don’t think I’m coming back. I would not recommend this place, if this was the last oriental food place in town.

Ordered delivery a few nights ago, and was very disappointed with the quality of food I received. The food lacked salt and seasoning generally. We ordered the sesame chicken, hot and sour soup, and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was soggy, the hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour, and the sesame chicken was covered in this sweet, watery, sticky sauce and the chicken wasn’t breaded. On top of that, the container it came in was leaking and coated everything in the to-go bag with a sticky mess! The delivery, while 30 minutes later than promised, was from a really nice guy, so that was a plus. They also have an online ordering system, which is awesome, but the food wasn’t worth the cash!

I’m a bit shocked by some of these reviews. I’ve always had good experiences and good food from August Moon. I order online and have it delivered. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to wait 30 – 60 minutes for the amount of food I order,(enough for 3 – 4 dinners), and they often deliver earlier than the estimated time. There have been a few mistakes over the years — all minor and no big deal. They also do one thing that several others don’t — they de-vein their shrimp! Thank you, because nothing grosses me out quite like the black stripe. Oh, I guess I should mention that I’ve been ordering from them every 1 – 2 months since I moved to NWPDX — in 1998. No one beats their sweet & sour shrimp.

Best sweet and sour chicken ever. The fried rice is above average as well as the lo mein. Other reviewers who gave it a low score and said the lady was mean obviously don’t know what good Chinese food is-they probably like PF Changs. One of the signs that a Chinese place will be worth it is that the lady is mean and rude. I’ve eaten here 20+ times in the past year and it has been consistently good food. THANKYOUAUGUSTMOON!

Walked in after a Timber’s Match. The Thai restaurant across the street was packed and this place has almost nobody, but decided to give it a shot anyway. Wasn’t initially impressed with the décor… or lack there of(and ya, the owners kid was playing with toys on the floor in the corner, but it didn’t bother us, it’s a family restaurant, not the Shangri-La.) The food definitely exceeded our expectations. I started with a cup of Hot n Sour soup. Spicy, just like I love it. Ordered a #5 combo with Beef N Broccoli, Chow Mein and Fried Rice… portions were generous for $ 10. All of the dishes, flavorful and fresh. Next time I have a Chinese craving, I’ll come here to get my fix.

I stopped by briefly for a cup of Wonton Soup before catching the bus, the soup(my favorite food) was simple and pleasant. It only had wontons, green onion and beef strips in it… but a quick meal for $ 4 is not bad. I was the only customer, but I also are at 4:15.

Unfortunately, the waitress was not very friendly. For the price, food was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We walked in to not one customer in the building but a sick kid at one of the tables hacking up a lung all over without covering his mouth(or wearing shoes). Employee was on phone for 5 minutes(not exaggerating) before we were pointed in the direction of a booth to seat ourselves. Then which she stayed on phone for another few minutes before coming over. Asked what we wanted(not what we would like). There was a gent that came in after us that simply had a pick up order to grt and waited 10 minutes. We have been sitting the whole time listening to her yell at the cook in the back, her sick child, and talking on the phone. Do not waste your time or money

I had them deliver to my work. FREEDELIVERY, no price minimum. AWESOME. They showed up just when they said they would. Portion sizes were comparable to price(I was super hungry, didn’t want to go out, so decided to pay more than I usually would for lunch. After lunch I took a whole meal home to the family for dinner!) It’s not fine dining, and yeah, it’s greasy; it’s exactly what I expected and I was very pleased. I don’t usually like thicker noodles but their chicken lo mein was good. They have a no-MSG option menu, options run about $ 1 more. Their soft drinks delivered are quite small. Spring rolls were scrumptious, small, and came 4 to an order.
