This was the best body work I have ever received. Benjamin is intuitive with the body, he is like no other massage therapist. I would not even call him that, it doesn’t do him justice. He is a healer. I was visting Portland for a long weekend from LA and I wish I lived there! I would fly up to Portland just to receive a treatment from him. I have had several massages in my life, and he ranked to the top! I would HIGHLY recommend him. He helped rid a pain in my shoulder/back that I had for over 2 months, its completely gone after 2 sessions! He is a hidden treasure of Portland, do yourself a favor and see him, you won’t be sorry! Can’t wait till my next venture to PDX to see Benjamin! AMAZING!!!

I just had to stop in and see Ben after reading all of the rave reviews he’s been getting here on Unilocal — I mean, who wouldn’t want to get a good ol’ fashioned rub down by a four-time, 5-star-rated massage therapist? First and foremost: Ben is a genuinely kind and warm individual with the best intentions of delivering his customers the best level of service possible. His«office» is very quiet and relaxing, with some great ambiance behind a yoga studio. Unfortunately these redeeming qualities of my experience account for the only two stars I’m granting him: as far as the actual massage work goes, I think one can do much better. It’s nothing personal against Ben at all, but after having received different modalities of massages from over 20 therapists in the Portland area, I simply cannot recommend him for the job. I know other reviewers here describe his work as a combination of different styles, but perhaps that’s just a kind way of saying he doesn’t have a particularly systematic(or even symmetrical) approach to his work. This is one of the few times that I’ve actually thought to myself«when is this going to end» during a massage, and literally walked out feeling more stiff and tense than going in. Again, Ben is a super kind and friendly guy, and I think that his service can be greatly improved by asking for real-time feedback while doing his body work. Given the other 5-star reviews here, I can only conclude that they are either close friends of his, or that he is wildly inconsistent in the quality of services rendered. As with any massage work though, experiences differ with each individual. So give him a try at your own risk — and more importantly, please take other Unilocalers’ reviews with a grain of salt, otherwise like Video Only says: «You’ll be sorry!»

Wow! I hadn’t had a massage in years, and had never had a Thai massage, so figured I’d give it a try. I’m SO glad I picked Benjamin. It’s probably one of the best massages I’ve had in my life. He really intuited what I needed, how much pressure I could take(a lot) and how much stretching I could take(not quite as much) and helped push my body to do a little more in a way I could handle. The massage/pressure along with the stretching was a fantastic combination of relaxation and invigoration. If you’re tired of getting all oiled up for a cookie cutter Swedish massage(as lovely as they can be), and are ready to try something new, I’d highly recommend a Thai massage with Benjamin.

I have been going to Benjamin for massage to help get my lower back in order for a few months now. I’ve been feeling better and better after every session. I have found him to be patient, friendly, professional, and very very skilled. He’s interesting to talk to about certain muscle groups or trigger points, because he’s very knowledgable and will start explaining how this piece affects that piece which affects that other piece, etc. It’s interesting to learn more and more about what he’s doing and why he’s doing certain things. All in all, I would recommend him in a heartbeat. If you’re in pain, give him a shot.

Today was my first massage with Benjamin and it was one of the best bodywork experiences I’ve ever had in my life — rates as one of my top 5 massages ever(yes, I’m that into massage that I actually have a top 5)! I’ve received LOTS of massage. I was also trained and licensed as an LMT for many years so I’m picky as hell about who I’ll go to for bodywork. Benjamin’s work was totally impressive. He used a combination of trigger point, Thai massage and myofacial release that was exquisite. Everything was perfect: I felt safe and his touch was skilled and intuitive. 100% bliss. I found Benjamin at People’s NE(which is also rad if you’re looking for a yoga studio) and his space is lovely: quiet, calm and down-to-earth. I’ve been looking for an LMT since moving to PDX a few years ago and I’m so thankful the search is over. Can’t recommend him highly enough.
