They so much crap out of the vents in my new home– they had to cut access panels in the 60 year old ductwork… that tells you they’ve never been cleaned. So gross! We just moved in, and there was definitely a lingering tobacco odor in the home. We removed the carpet, I painted the worst-​offending rooms, and scrubbed all the walls. The rest was up to Tony. He was unfazed by the stank, and explained the process before, during, and after. He’s a bit gleeful with showing you the residual gunk in their machines.
There were some interesting design choices by the builder (who lived in this home), which made for unusual ducts, but these guys figured it out, no problem. It was apparent that Tony knew exactly what he was talking about, sizing up where to start and how to proceed.
It ain’t cheap getting your ducts cleaned with these guys, but it makes a difference. I’ve had ducts cleaned with every house I’ve lived in, and usually the house smells like acrid, burnt dust afterwards, and a spritz of air freshener. With this company… no odors. No fake bouquet. Zero. Nada. It’s just clean. I am guessing it’s because they start with sanitized equipment, and their process seemed more high-​tech than some of the other companies I’ve gone with. Clean equipment, better equipment, techs that know what they are doing.
And damn! It’s been a couple days, and my house is still hella fresh. The ghost of the old man stogies are gone. I was super worried about battling this odor for years. Would I have to tear back to the studs and rebuild… nope! Just got the ducts cleaned properly!
You get what you pay for!

I don’t know if the reviews here are real. I don’t they could be based on our very poor experience.
Several months ago, the «cleaned» our ducts. We have a small system and they probably spent no more than 10 minutes on it. They were rude. Nothing was cleaner. And now we need it done properly since the issues of indoor air quality never resolved.
I scoped the ducts with a snake, and they looked as dirty as the ever did. They didn’t screw the inlet and outlet covers back on. They essentially left me to work for them while leaving me a $ 150 dollar bill.
They used a Shopvac and a brush in attempt to clean our ducts. I could have done that myself, but I wanted a professional job.
Reviews online these days are suspect. Watch out for this company. These people are not friendly. They never introduced themselves by name, and don’t understand how the other reviewers know their names so well if they don’t introduce themselves.
Buyer beware!

We had our duct work cleaned yesterday and I can’t say enough about Better Air Northwest. Darwin & Brandon were both very professional while also being friendly, courteous and respectful of our home. They showed up at the time agreed and explained their process before starting. The work was fast and efficient, but they also took enough time to make sure that they did a great job.
They showed us pictures (before and after) of all the ducts and I was amazed at the amount of junk they cleaned out. It’s not just a simple vacuuming of the ducts. Their equipment knocks the stuff loose without damaging anything and the powerful vacuum pulls it out of the system. They did the same to the plenum areas and the furnace fan itself.
They really cleaned up afterward and even left the vacuum run in the basement to help clear the dust that was stirred up from the process.

Like everyone else here, I loved these guys. Came on time, took their shoes off and cleaned the heck out of my ducts. Even patched up a rusted duct for me that a contractor had quoted $ 400 to replace, FOR FREE! All in all, great service, friendly people and in and out in a couple of hours.

I chose to have my ducts cleaned by Better Air Northwest because of all these glowing Unilocal reviews. I didn’t think there was any way they could live up to the hype. But I’m thrilled to say they absolutely do. Holy cow.
These guys showed up on time and spent a little over three hours cleaning every inch of my (new-​to-​me) old home’s HVAC system. They said it looked like the ducts had never been cleaned before, and judging by what they pulled out, I believe it. They completely filled a Shop Vac and their big industrial-​sized vac with 40 years worth of funk. Among the treasures they found in my ducts were seven golf balls and something that looked like a turkey baster.
After they loosened up all the junk with their pressurized air spider thingie (Sorry, I don’t mean to get super technical…) Tony hooked the big vacuum to the furnace and invited me to watch the show. It was like a blizzard of dust. Just a thick, driving, opaque mass of crap getting sucked out of my vents. And it went on for MINUTES. The sheer volume of junk they removed was amazing and horrifying.
They also did the dryer vent for free, and pulled out a knee-​high mountain of lint. It was absurd that that much junk could even FIT in that hose.
When it was all over, I was afraid that the huge amount of time and effort it took to get the system cleaned would mean extra charges. But Better Air Northwest charged me exactly the price given in the email estimate.
These guys are the best. If you’ve got dirty ducts, this is the company to call.

They replaced 3 ducts in about an hour and now the horrible cat pee smell is gone! These guys are professional, reasonably priced, and FAST! Highly recomended

These guys are amazing! Came in and completely cleaned the whole ducting system. Both return and supply lines. They even cut holes in the return and supply ducting to clean out the blower motor and the ducting there, and professionally sealed it up for a clean look. Shocking at how much stuff lurks in those vents. They don’t just vacuum out stuff, they create negative pressure with hoses strung through the ducting that knocks all the gunk loose. They also clean your dryer vent, return grill, and clean the furnace inside.
I want to say don’t waste your time on those $ 50 coupon deals from other companies for a whole house vent cleaning service. They show up at your place and start tallying your total with «extras» which Betterair includes already in their price. I’ve done my research and learned the hard way trust me. Thank you very much!

These guys were great. They were on time, friendly and thoroughly explained the process before beginning. Our vents were cleaned and polished like new in a very short time. They even went above and beyond by replacing a light bulb in chandelier above the stairwell that was near our air return.
I would highly recommend their services and we will definitely be using them again in the future.

Nate & Michael were professional, arrived on time, completed the duct & laundry vent cleaning in a timely manner. They are super nice and explained every step to me. What they took out of my system that’s only 4 years old was amazing. Not in a good way. Oh, and they are very reasonably priced, and Nate called an hour before arrival to check-​in. Phone rings forever then says «thanks for calling» and hangs up. I need a new furnace as mine is beyond repair, but there’s no one home at this company so.

I called and listened to the ring for some time, and then a polite messages said «Thank you for calling, Goodbye!» and hung up on me. If their voicemail is this unprofessional, I can only imagine how poor their services are. Infuriating.

Very happy with their service. They cleaned our duct system and provided recommends on how to make our system more efficient. The house actually SMELLED clean after their work and the ducts look clean enough to eat off of.

We recently moved into our new old house, and upon move-​in, Matt wrinkled his nose and said, «they had a cat here.»
I am completely nose-​blind to said cat smell, but I did notice a musty scent and I blamed the age of the house. Matt insisted that we get an HVAC company out to clean the air ducts.
When I first called them, there was a minor miscommunication. I said we need to reattach the bathroom vent to the air duct in the attic, and then connect that duct to the outside world so our bathroom moisture doesn’t simply vent into the attic space. I also need our air ducts cleaned (meaning the entire house).
The guys arrived, on time, and proceeded to work. Matt called me moments later and said the guys thought they were only reattaching and cleaning the bathroom air duct and not the ducts throughout the house. I apologized for the misunderstanding, and Matt was going to pay them for the work they did (reattaching) and reschedule for the entire house’s duct cleaning (because it requires a larger machine that they did not have with them).
The guys said don’t worry about paying them for the reattachment, since we are going with them for the whole-​house cleaning anyway, so we got our reattachment for free.
About a couple of weeks later, the team came out again (different people, Nate was with us this time). They brought the big vacuum, showed me that it’s clean and sanitized before they start sucking all the yucky dirt out of the ducts. Both guys were on time, once again, and both were very nice and polite.
Not only did they do a very thorough job cleaning the air ducts and dryer vent, they also replaced the furnace cover (that was missing before we moved in) for us, for free! They also gave us suggestions as to how to keep the air ducts clean and how often we should do the maintenance.
These guys were great. They are clean, knowledgeable, patient, polite, and simply care about their customers! I would use them again and again, and would recommend them to anyone that need HVAC things done!

My HVAC company recommended Better Air Northwest to me, and they were awesome. Nate Parker and his partner came out and attempted to clean the ductwork for the entire house. However, they discovered that the HVAC company did not do the job they said they did (replacing all the animal damaged ducts under the house) as about half the house had shredded ductwork! They cleaned what they could and I cannot say how appreciative I am that they found the incomplete HVAC job. I’d of been really mad come winter time and had to live in a cold, stinky house.

Perhaps the first time this has been done in over a decade, we saw the before and after of their equipment. Yuck to what we’d been breathing and Hooray it’s now all gone!

We just moved to Portland and one of the first things on our list was to get the air ducts and dryer vent cleaned in our ~50-​year-​old home. Tony and Randall were stellar! They jumped right into explaining what they were going to do, how, why, and where, and showed me the results of their findings — ewww. Dust is really a vague word — look it up, it encompasses a lot of disgusting stuff, and dust was only the beginning of their findings.
Thank you guys so much for cleaning the inside of our home up so that my husband and I can be relaxed, knowing that our daughter is breathing clean air! We HIGHLY recommend Better Air Northwest and will definitely use them in the future.

Just got my nasty air ducts cleaned! Yay! We have been meaning to clean them since we first moved in (4 years ago ~lol) and then the other day I realized that we had forgotten AND had a nasty mouse problem a couple of years ago. OMG so glad they are spic and span now!
Set up an appointment over email — easy peasy with a nice lady named Sharon. Then Jason and Lawrence came right on schedule. Everything was very professional, clean equipment, nice guys, took off their shoes, were kind to my dogs, etc. They just left and I am literally breathing better. Wish all companies were this courteous and professional
Good value: $ 325 for up to 1500 square feet. This price includes hand scratch and polishing each vent, cleaning each line of duct work in the home individually from each vent (supply and return) all the way back to the furnace, blowing out the front of the furnace and blower motor and cleaning out the dryer vent.
Would 100% recommend this company.
