Nice neighborhood bar to watch soccer with a decent breakfast, even better if you like hearing Gooners complain about not getting the calls in their match!

Delicious, affordable, and a perfect alternative to the long brunch lines at City State. Cozy and eclectic, great service, and yummy dishes.

Service was sub-par. I got a gift card. I had to wait to get water. Then it took me 20 minutes to get served. Then after that food was okay. Will not be going back.

If Portland had it’s own list of superpowers, breakfast/brunch would be one of them. However, that does tend to mean some places get pretty packed. We were in the mood for a nice scramble, good coffee, a quiet vibe, and for me, a bagel with cream cheese. Of all the places we’ve been to for breakfast/brunch, Beulahland is my favorite. Everyone is super cool and just so nice. We haven’t been here for drinks yet but I’m sure my feelings will be the same. Also, get the Beulah hash. You guys rock!

As good as it gets. The happy hour is from 4 – 7 with local draft, martinis, and well 3 dollars. If you care to know, I had the best martini to date here yesterday. If a woman named Cordelia is there she is capable of making the best dirty gin martini I’ve seen or made. A second’s dash of vermouth as preferred in its heyday. I know this is weird of me but martini’s are for most of us a guessing game that combines elements that could sum up to basically salty pine water. This is place is also one filled with people willing to talk to strangers if they hear something interesting enough. I’ve met a few friends through this place.

Another dive for sure but we like dives if the food and service are good. Lots of older semi-comfortable chairs to sit in. The first sever was a bit quiet and mumbled some… at least to my old ears. I had an immediate bad reaction when I asked if they had decaf coffee. She mumbled something I did not understand but put on a stank face that told me that not only they did not have decaf but they are a bit put off that someone would ask. My expectations dropped with that interchange. I would not have coffee with my breakfast. My wife’s first choice was a smoked salmon scramble. They were out. We both ended up with basic brekky’s… eggs, potatoes, and bacon. My wife also got a biscuit(touted that they were made fresh this morning!). The eggs were done perfectly, the bacon was Really good. The potatoes were some of the best we have ever had. I think the chef uses rosemary and/or sage. The biscuit was just ok. Service, except for the mumbling, was very good. If they would have carried decaf and made a better biscuit… would have been 5 star. But even so… it was good enough to want to come back. If they would

A classic of inner né portland in a sense. A dive bar with decent enough food, nice pies, comfortable, good for socializing, reading, web surfing, or what have you, an interesting look, good drafts, fun djs, lots of character with a rock and roll appeal. It might be a bit grungy for the neat freak.

Just a bar. Nothing to write home about. Had tv’s, pinball, booths to eat at. Happy hour is good with $ 3 wells & $ 4 pints. Drinks felt generic. I had a greyhound wells and it was aight. The good thing? Happy hour is until 7p here. Didn’t try any of their food b/c we were just looking for a quick, cheap happy hour drink. The workers were attentive, nice and pleasant to work with. The décor is all dive bar. Nothing else to say. Would I come here again? During another happy hour with friends, sure. To eat? probably not. To pay full price? don’t think so.

Great night cap kind of bar or sometimes during show events it can be the place to be. All around good neighborhood bar. Always clean, good vibes, quick service. Rio is top notch!

If you live in Portland, you need a solid breakfast place, a place you can walk to, a place where there won’t be a line, a place where you won’t have to deal too many hipsters before you’ve had your morning coffee. This is the place. After walking by late at night, I expected Beulahland to be a dive bar, but the atmosphere turned out to be more quirky Portland, with carefully curated wall art(weird version of the Last Supper, anyone?) and exposed brick walls. More importantly, the food was great… it was filling and everything cost $ 10 or less. I had some yummy $ 9 Chilaquiles. The hashes ranged in price from $ 8-$ 10. A lovely PDX breakfast discovery.

Decent cheap divy bar. Nothing too cool. Just a low key bar on the east side, def big timbers fans so there is that, looking for a timbers fan bar, this place is for you. Even if you’re not, it’s still pretty chill. Bar food is basic. The have a photo booth which I love ! They also have some outdoor seating which is sweet, the front doors face west so it’s a good spot to be.

The BF and I were STARVING on a recent trip to Portland and quickly did a U-turn when we saw the 30+ people in line at Screen Door. Nope nope nope. After some meandering and Unilocaling, we ended up at Beulahland around late brunch time. Unbeknownst to us, we had apparently just caught the mass exodus of some soccer viewers – we were quite confused when we saw a huge line at the bar and didn’t know whether we were supposed to order food there or be served. Luckily, I located a sign that indicated we would receive waiter service in the right side, so sat ourselves amongst the chaos. I have to say my expectations were not very high since this place was pretty divey and very much a bar vs. a restaurant ambiance, but ended up being fairly impressed. I ordered the pork sausage and chevre(apparently this is a goat cheese) scramble, which was delicious and definitely hit the spot. The BF had sausage and gravy which was also very good, and came in a generous portion. Despite my assumptions, the food itself wasn’t divey or diner-esque – it was a few notches up and we both enjoyed our meals very much!

I like dirty neighborhood bars. The owner is funny, the staff is pretty fucking great, the food isn’t spectacular but it’s solid. Not sure how often they clean the tap lines though. It’s a hipster haven so if you’re not one of the cool kids it’s a good place to hide out because they won’t even notice you’re there. Even the girls here could grow a better handle bar mustache than me.

The best place in Rose City for a Gooner. If you’re an Arsenal fan, there’re no better places to be on game days. They show all Arsenal and Timbers matches on their big screens. And the atmosphere is just electric. It’s actually the official Arsenal bar in Portland. Food is good. In fact their wild salmon hash and the bagel are quite delicious, but really I come here for the atmosphere.

The best place to watch RuPaul’s drag race in the city. Cheap drinks, great TV screen, great drink specials. Thank you!

I only sat outside and had a cap but it was a good cap and the front had enough room for myself, a friend, my baby and my dog. It’s not a huge space in front but they do have the inside and back patio as well if you are traveling sans pooch. I look forward to trying the food which I hear is pretty good as well.

This bar is what it is. Don’t expect lavish surroundings or 5 star service. It’s a dirty, neighborhood bar. The staff is always nice and the drinks are plentiful but if you make a big deal about having to wait, you’ll just make yourself look like a douche. I wouldn’t consider the food to be what someone would want to line their stomach with before drinking obscene amounts of cheap swill… so eat somewhere else before unless you like paying for snacks. Update: due to the owner’s childish and defensive tone below, I will reiterate what was said above. Fresh ingredients aren’t stale nacho chips with canned tomato made salsa. Lots of places in PDX love to flash the«fresh» flag but if you look in their kitchens you will find shelves filled with canned goods. The staff is always nice; no shade there, buddy. Unilocal is the platform where EVERYONE is a critic, by the way. That’s the point. Your customers are regulars, one-timers and those who get dragged there by friends because they can’t find a classier place to go on Wednesday. You’re ½ a step above a dive bar only dives have a brooding personality that keep people coming back. Beulahland feels more like a nightclub for hair band roadies. I never said the bar is bad. It is what it is but your whiny comment just lost you a star. :)

How do you spell SLOW??? Do you spell it Slooow or Sloooooooowwww? Well, either one would be close to the service we got here. I’m giving Beulahland four stars because the atmosphere was fun and the food was good. My guy and I walked over here around 11-ish the day after Christmas. There were only one or two other tables of people when we arrived. Someone brought us menus and then it took quite a long time for our actual server to appear. She was very fun, friendly and down to earth, but she seemed to be on Martian time, or something like that. She did tell us that until a few minutes before we got there, they had been slammed for about five hours. So I’m sure they were tired, but, this is your job and business, you have to make it work. We then waited another eon for her to take our order. Our food? I’m a pretty patient person but it took forever. I seriously think they went out to the farm to get our eggs, kill the pig for the bacon and harvest the grain for the pancakes. There was a couple who came in after us who got their food before us and also got their check before we did. Maybe they ordered something that was faster to cook, but still… So how was our food? Great! I had the 222 plate, which is eggs, bacon and flapjacks, I had them add blueberries. My scrambled eggs were creamy and soft, the bacon was crispy scrumptious-ness and the flapjacks were amazingly tasty. My boyfriend got the vegan hash, which he said was really delicious. I really liked the atmosphere too, very old school Portland with retro décor and punk music. But then we had to wait another year for her to bring our check. We weren’t in a hurry that day at all, but even for a leisurely breakfast, they were really, really slow. I’d be willing to give this place another try, especially since the food was great. But hopefully next time, we don’t get a server who’s doing the Thorazine shuffle.
