One of my favorite ‘go to-s’ in PDX. Mango Lassie a must. Curried chicken or veggie excellent. Order the garlic naan not the plain. If you’re an organ fan, try their curried chicken liver.

Don’t ever forget you are in the business of hospitality. If you are struggling to stay open 1 hour prior to your said closing hour on a Saturday night, it must reflect the quality of your food, service, or both.

Well… We really wanted to try this place and drove across town to make it and arrived at 9:15 pm. Unilocal said they close at 10 and so does their sign on the door. But there was a closed sign up. We tried to walk in anyway and the guy said they go by reservations… Sooooo they just close early if they feel like it? That’s super odd and unprofessional. He said we could sit down and order immediately if we knew exactly what we wanted to order. We really wanted to look at the menu and enjoy our time there. We wouldn’t have dilly dally’ed, but we didn’t want to be rushed like that and have their staff breathing down our necks rushing to get us out. If you say your establishment is open until a certain time you should adhere to that and not make people who walk in with 45 mins until your advertised closing, feel like intruders on your evening. Sad, really wanted to try. Guess we will never know if ifs good or not. First impression was awful. See ya never again. There’s enough Indian food in PDX for us to try somewhere else. Too bad.

After two failed attempts to get in(«Do you have a reservation?»), we made a reservation. Got in. Disappointed. Slow service. Veg Pakoras obviously reheated from frozen. Cold inside. Curry mediocre. Medium heat is definitely mild. Naan reheated and too crispy. Overpriced. Dwaraka up the road is better value and less pretentious. Oh, well…

Really delicious Indian food, and, true to their name, cricket is playing on the bar tv.

Excellent Indian food and great service. Get their signature dishes! The curry was great and the garlic naan was awesome. I’d recommend getting it spicy, the«mild plus»(2 of 5 star equivalent) was not enough in my opinion… but, alas, I was forced to downgrade by my weak-palated friends.

Not impressed with the food. There weren’t enough vegetarian options in my opinion. the food was just mediocre for a pretty pricey menu. 14.00 an entrée? I love Indian food and am always down to try a new place but this was probably my least favorite I’ve ever had. Bonus, the wait staff was nice

Great food-wonderful service! We enjoyed a really good meal on Friday; the food was well prepared and service very attentive. I liked being able yo select ‘how hot’ for the spice level and my chicken tandoori was tender and flavorful. The naan was the best I’ve had in a restaurant. We’ll be back again for sure!

Very robust non-typical flavors. It seems like they’ve taken traditional recipes you’ve had at every other Indian restaurant and Portlandized them. For example, there are bold cinnamon and cardamom flavors in the basmati rice, and the chicken used in the Tikka Masala was pre-grilled, with a distinct and lovely char-grilled flavor layered underneath the sauce. They are a little pricier than other Indian restaurants and you don’t get huge portions, but the ambiance is good, the service was excellent, and the flavors were bold, unique and exciting. We will keep our stand-by ‘East India Company’ when we want standard-but-way-better-than-buffet Indian flavors, and we’ll come here when we want something special.

This was my first time here and being that it is a very small restaurant I would recommend a reservation no matter when you go OR at least calling ahead to see if they have seating available. Hawthorne Street parking so… It is hit and miss if you will find something close by. I went with a couple others that had been here before who took the reins and ordered a variety of things so we could sample them. I had no idea that mangos were so big in India. The feature drink here is a mango margarita and for dessert they had a couple mango items. The mango rita was exceptional and looking around the place it appeared almost everyone had one in front of them. We started out with their Naan and Hummus. They have several flavors of Naan such as garlic, onion, potato, jalapeño or plain. We ordered plain and potato Naan. The hummus was delicious but I thought it was a little too fluid for my liking. Next we had the green salad and it was big enough for the 4 of us. Unique vinegar based dressing with lots of spices and pepper. 3 of us did not really like the dressing. For entrees we had ordered the okra, butter chicken, chicken vindalho and a vegetable dish that I don’t recall the name. They came with rice that tasted like it had a hint of cinnamon in it. My favorite was the butter chicken. The sauce was so yummy and its had red and green peppers in it as well. The okra was good if you like okra. The chicken vindalho was good as well. I didn’t like the veggie dish there was cinnamon in it and I didn’t like the combo. So much food and no room for dessert made for a good evening with friends. :-) If you like Indian food check it out… I am sure you will enjoy. 2016-11

So gooooood! Wow! I went for the first time last week and will be back many times now! I love spicy and told them to make it as hot as they could and they brought the heat :)

This is, without question, one of the best meals I’ve had in Portland. The coconut curry prawns are sweet and decadent without being too heavy. The feta naan bread was baked to perfection, the lentil soup was the perfect texture, and the meat samosas had a crispy, homemade feel. The service was also amazing, and the Masala margarita is damn good. The intimate setting made this experience all the more enjoyable.

Cozy, warm, welcoming. Large menu. Good food. Great view of main floor from upstairs. Samosas are crispy. Soup is delicate but warming. Green salad was vinegar heavy. Hit the spot on this freezing evening.

Lesson: when a Persian rug seller tells you where to eat, LISTEN! We were directed here by a lovely man in a rug store, started with the zaahter naan, which was rich and flavorful. I had a coconut shrimp, bathed in an orange sauce I could have sucked off the plate it was so good. All spice levels tailored to you personally. One friend had a spicy eggplant dish and raved about it, another had a vegetable curry and thoroughly enjoyed it. A delicious meal. Nice enough service. Lovely space.

There are so many restaurant choices in Portland, but having Bombay Cricket Club on the top of the list us a must! The dinner challenge, which has my wife and I competing weekly as to who can find the best location for a Friday night date is fun, and she definitely won a gold star with her choice. Great atmosphere, close tables, and nice vibe sets the scene. The food was fantastic. We had chicken vindaloo and chicken masala. Do NOTFORGET the naan. Simply delicious. Perfect date night!

Delicious meal on a very warm Saturday night. My husband and I decided last minute to come in for dinner on a 95 degree plus evening. We got to the restaurant just after they opened for dinner service and were seated right away. We started off with the meat samosas which were very tasty. The mixture of meat, onion, cilantro and spices was just right. For dinner we had Naan, lamb tikka masala and chicken vindalho. Both the lamb and chicken were tender and not even slightly dry, which is a good sign for good Indian food. We ordered both dishes in a medium plus heat. The server did an excellent job describing what that means in terms of heat. It was the perfect amount of heat for us and everything was so delicious. It was far too much food for the two of us but we wanted leftovers for the next night. The service was friendly and quick. We will certainly be back. Thanks for a great meal Bombay Cricket Club!

So wonderful! Amazing service and the best Indian food in PDX. The garlic naan bread with yogurt dipping sauce was a fantastic appetizer.

My hubby took me here for my birthday dinner. We had the best samosa to start us off. It was perfectly fried & seasoned & I loved the little trio of dipping sauces they brought out. We ordered the lamb tikka masala & butter chicken with a side of garlic naan. Everything exceeded my expectations & the service was excellent. This is a quiet & unassuming restaurant but it is really popular and gets packed easily(make sure you call ahead and get reservations).

I don’t like being bossed around bullied by anyone. Particularly not where I’m about to eat. Late Thursday we came in. My friend was parking and they wouldn’t seat me until she physically walked in. I was asked to sit at the(empty) bar. For exactly one minute. NO. The atmosphere is the epitome of mediocre carelessness. Too bright, too hard. Uninteresting and cramped. The fare was fair. My friend had a red chicken curry that I didn’t care for.(I love curry) I had the leg of lamb which was good, but not a dish that I’ll brave the atmosphere and seating Nazi for again.

I really should’ve gotten photos of the food. I was too hungry. Nevertheless… I’ve been here, but not for a few years and it was better than I remember. The samosas, the hummus, the naan, curries and biryani were all excellent and not the same colors or tastes or heat ranges as a few have mentioned. I’ve been to Bollywood and I enjoy that too, but I was craving a proper sit down non bus your own table meal. I can only rate my experience and this was outstanding. I haven’t eaten Indian food in India, but I’ve had it in NY and London and it was just as good if not better. Justin was a superb server and the mangoritas whilst potent, are delightful. The owner was very accommodating, personable, and is obviously passionate about his food and his customers. All of the chutneys were gorgeously presented and tasty and the food arrived promptly, yet the entire meal was relaxed and a very special end of holidays treat. Another reviewer mentioned the only downside was the two tv’s playing cricket matches… Um yeah… Check the name of the place? It’s not as if it’s in your face like some tacky sports bar. Authenticity is a good thing. Learn to embrace it. Great food and worth every penny. Thank you BCC — best night out in ages! We all loved it, and our group included some picky eaters.
