Cedar Mountain Drums

I was excited to realize that I had moved to the city that I had been buying mail order drum kits and medicine from for many years. I had no idea that it was so small in a little basement, but it is packed full of musical and spiritual goodness. This is the only place I will buy a drum from, great prices if you want to be creative and put it together yourself. I have only experienced helpful staff and quality instruments and I have been ordering from them for over 10 years.

This is a drum lovers dream shop. I was there with a friend, who was buying a drum for her granddaughter and we had lots and lots of choices. The owner of the shop, Patrick and his son were very helpful and informative. If you need a drum, pound no further. Go here. Just make sure and call ahead first to make sure they are open, then ring the bell when you get there. They lock the front door during business hours due to being robbed a few years back. They are there and will open the door immediantly.

What a random little stop we made today to this drum store. You won’t find Zildjian or pearl or any of the brand names here, but mostly cultural drums made of natural materials. I was hesitant to go in at first because we just wanted to look and play, and the door was locked. There was a sign saying ring bell for service, so we did. The lady who answered erased all my doubts about going in to just play around, she encouraged my 2 year old to come in and bang on all the drums (this is very exciting for a 2 year old, it kind of made her day!). I enjoyed seeing and playing with everything so much I felt like I wanted to buy something to support this business. I bought my daughter a $ 10 tambourine, made of natural hide. I thought it was a great price, because I could go to the toystore down the street and get a plastic one and it would have cost the same thing. The lady mentioned a women’s drum circle they have there, not sure if that’s my thing but it sure would be interesting! I may go back and buy my daughter a set of bongos, she loves music and I’d much rather go there and get the real thing than the cheap fisher price version.

A good source for handmade or fringe-​brand hand drums and wood flutes. Very much a specialty shop. Can be a little pricey, catering somewhat to the drums-​as-​décor market.
