We went there tonight there were no other customers around the guy working was obviously not concerned with customer service. I would have been able to get past that if the food was amazing, however it wasn’t. The cornbread was hard as a rock Texas style beans were served cold and from a can, corn on the cob was mushy, now let’s move to the meat I tried the chicken, ribs and brisket. The brisket was the only somewhat edible part of the meal. None of the meat had any flavor, it was dry and the skin on the chicken had a very odd and unappetizing flavor. All the meat was soaked in BBQ sauce which was the only saving grace. I would not recommend this place.

This place is not good. Please don’t eat here. Low quality meat, smoked for the bare minimum amount of time. Food is not always fresh, don’t expect to be eating meat that was smoked the day you are buying it. The BBQ sauce is some industrial sized jug stuff, and it is used in abundance to give the meat any flavor at all. The seasoning mix that is sparsely rubbed on the meat has MSG in it. You are eating the cheapest possible factory farm meat for a premium price. The side dishes are also typical Reser’s slop. For the price being charged, they could be offering something much better. Thanks for the High Fructose Corn Syrup. Respect yourself and get something actually worth calling«delicious» elsewhere.

I having been driving by here for the last 6 months and it makes me so happy when I see the owner stoking the big ass pit in the front of the«parking lot». Sadly this is where the joy ends. My one positive take away from this experience is that the lady who was working at the time was really pleasant. Where is all the smoke in the meat? For as good as this place smells, the ribs and pulled pork were as bland as I have ever tasted. Don’t try and tell me that just because it has been smoke for some-odd hours it doesn’t need seasoning. That’s just plain lazy cooking. Good bbq meat should stand alone with out sauce, but sadly even the sauce couldn’t help it. I hate giving bad reviews but this place is not deserving of more than the 1 star I gave it. Which of course is baffling to me considering it has more than a few 5 star reviews. Maybe they were having a bad day. Either way, I will continue to drive past and enjoy the wafting smoke but likely will never go back.

Cold… dry…brisket and pulled pork. Threw out the slaw after 2 bites. Very disappointing

Great little gem! I’ve been constantly driving by this place without checking it out. Finally did and it didn’t disappoint– best BBQ in the Hillsdale/Multnomah area. Brisket was nice and tender with a terrific smoke flavor. BBQ chicken was crisp on the outside/tender on the inside with tasty BBQ sauce. Staff was welcoming and very friendly — definitely check it out if Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. between Raleigh Hills and Hillsdale is part of your commute!

I have driven by Charles’ locations on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy for years now. I finally stopped in to get a taste. I was blown away. I got the three meat/two side platter. It was a ton of meat for a great price.($ 12-$ 13). The pork was good, the brisket was thick and fantastic and the ribs were out of this world. The smoke on all of the meats was excellent. One of the big surprises was the side of beans. They are pinto beans with some chili powder. Again these were awesome. To top it all off, Charles came out and talked to us for awhile and was very friendly and welcoming. I am going to promote this stop to as many people as possible. Well done Charles.

I loved this place months ago. I used to stop about once a month for the BBQ sandwiches for 99 cents. I love the BBQ taste since my apts about 2 blocks from here don’t allow BBQing on the back patio so it was my BBQ fix. I admit it has been months since I have stopped, and boy was I disappointed. First of all the 99 cent sandwiches are now $ 3. They asked to add slaw, and it sounded really good for the sandwich. I thought okay the added slaw was worth it. The sandwiches were ice cold. Was it the slaw? I am not sure, but I only live about a 2 min drive from the place, and my sandwiches were so cold that I had to put them in the microwave for 1:30 just to get them up to temp. Of course having to do that my buns ended up being a soggy mess. They just didn’t seem the same as I remembered a few months ago. It was more like chopped bbq pork sandwiches with bbq sauce squirted on top. It seemed before it was more like shredded, and slow cooked in bbq sauce all day. I need to find a new BBQ fix.

I drive by here pretty regularly as I live nearby. Always wanted to try it, but either haven’t had time to stop or they’re closed when I do have time. The sun is out and I have some time to kill, so I decide to stop. I wanted a pulled chicken sandwich as I try to stay away from pork and beef, so I decide on the Pulled Pork Sandwich and a side of potato salad. The sandwich itself wasn’t bad at all, although I could’ve done without the BBQ sauce. Not my cup of tea, and the potato salad was awesome. If you happen to be in the area, definitely check it out, but ask for sauce on the side.

I’ve had a lot of barbecue. From pulled pork in Rocky Mount, NC, to Texas brisket and loads of ribs, chicken, etc. all over. This is the worst barbecue I’ve ever paid money for. I stopped by on the way home when I saw the smoker going and got a half pound of pulled pork and brisket. They gave me a couple ounces of sauce for free. Total about $ 12 which is well worth it for decent bbq. If you’re a que-head you might know that sauce is a personal choice. Good meat is good without sauce, and great sauce can elevate it new heights. But if the meat is bad, sauce is the new coat of paint on the rotten house. So I eat a lot of my bbq without sauce, especially when I’m trying out something new. Neither meat had any character of its own. The pork was edible, but entirely flavorless. The brisket had a good smoke ring, maybe a bit over-charred & dried, but looked pretty nice. It was loose, greasy, and had a lot of fat still in the meat. My guess it that they cut corners and don’t use any rub when preparing the meat. Then they attempt to salvage the results with sauce. Oh, the sauce. When I opened the little sauce tub and sniffed it I knew we were in trouble. Liquid smoke? Seriously? Either a store-bought by the 55-gal drum or a misguided attempt to make it smokey. Complete failure. I at about half the pork with a Piedmont sauce I made myself in 30 seconds. But I’m not even interested in trying to make the brisket palatable. What blows my mind is that this place has gotten 3 – 5 stars pretty regularly. Maybe there’s something wrong with me? Save your money and go elsewhere.
