Great location. Nice clean room. Quite comfortable. Very well run business. Highly recommended if you can’t afford to spend big money on a downtown hotel.

Great location — only a 5 minute walk from downtown Portland. Upon arrival the friendly man at the front desk gave us a map and showed us how to get different places nearby. The rooms aren’t super updated, but they’re quiet and clean. Safe area, my sisters and I were traveling alone and felt very comfortable.

Rita and the staff are absolutely wonderful-​welcoming and friendly. Great location! Walking distance to downtown Portland.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was very close to my daughter’s apartment and walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants.
They even have a washer and dryer for your use.
Room was super clean and the staff were very friendly. Rita made you feel right at home and I would definitely stay here again!

Very sad experience… To start with, I called and made reservations on the phone with someone who asked me how to spell mover… Really? We paid 10 dollars a space for parking that wasn’t even there… I explicitly asked if there was a pull through parking space for a truck and trailer, non commercial and she said yes… That was a lie. We ended up having to back in our trailer next to their garbages and block another car in with the truck.
Then we get in to our room… The bathroom was ok. Nice shower curtain, crappy soap though.
The room was ok clean but you could tell they didn’t vacuum often. But otherwise, it was ok.
I think what bothered me the most was that we paid the same price for this hotel as we would have a nice, more lux hotel. Had I realized that prior to paying, I would have gone elsewhere.
Leave it to say, very disappointing.

Great location for the price, right around the corner from Portland State University.
There were a TON of food trucks across the street which was great for lunch and dinner. I loved the location, they gave us maps, early check in and late check out. It was a clean enough hotel, the staff were nice and accommodating.
The transportation was easy to use and will take you everywhere in Portland! No need to bring a car re MAX (Rapid transit) was cheap and you can use the pass for the MAX, streetcar and the bus.
All in all a great trip, comfy bed and great location.

A bit if a back story, my boyfriend and I did a nine day road trip so we were looking for specific things in our hotels nothing too expensive.
Value and Location A good value for the size, downtown is pretty expensive and this place was on the cheaper end. It was a nice 10 minute walk from downtown so we just parked and walked everywhere. It’s $ 10 a night to park, which we weren’t to happy about because it should be included in the price.
Cleanliness: The room is a good size: we stayed in a queen bed room and it had a fridge and to our surprise a nice TV. The bathroom, sheets and carpet are all clean we didn’t notice anything dirty or bad smells, it is well maintained hotel.
Overall we are happy with our stay! Clean, good location all at a decent value!

A sketchy motel across from some food trucks. My wife suggested this place since its across the street from some famous food trucks. I just didn’t get the whole concept but went along with it anyway. The rooms were very dated, with threadbare towels and really old furniture. It was clean and the mattress was decent so not all bad.

Ok first off, I am not expecting the Ritz when I stay at an Econo Lodge. I don’t care enough to write a review about the crappy heating system and breakfast. Those are all fine for the amount of $$ being paid in a major city area in a good location. We have even stayed her once previously and found the place completely acceptable.
My issue is with the customer service on our last visit. When my husband and I checked in, we went to our room and smelled smoke in the room. We stayed for a few minutes to see if we could handle it and when our throats started hurting, we decided to go to the office and see what we could do to remedy the situation. When we got the office, we told the young girl working at the desk about the situation and she IMMEDIATELY got defensive. She told us very firmly that we were in a non-​smoking room so it couldn’t possibly smell like smoke. She also told us the manager wouldn’t be back until 10 pm (it was 5 pm when we complained) so that’s all she could do since she doesn’t have the authority to change rooms, give refunds for us to check out, etc. I told her that was unacceptable and she needed to contact her manager now because we weren’t waiting 5 hours in a smokey room until the manager could grace us with his/​her presence. The young girl then said she wasn’t going to call with us present and she’d call when she could and we need to go wait in our (smokey) room until she can get to us. No timetable was given. I again told her I was not leaving until a solution was reached and I would wait in the office for that to occur. The young girl then said that if we didn’t leave, she would CALL THE POLICE. I called her bluff and told her she was welcome to call the police to tell them I was in the office not physically or verbally harassing her. She dropped that pretty quickly… She FINALLY was reasonable and actually came to our room to smell it (said she didn’t smell anything hoping we’d give up – that didn’t work). She offered to clean our sheets and I told her that cigarette smoke requires carpet cleaning, curtains cleaned and deeper cleaning than new sheets. She then called the manager and finally changed our room. Someone needs to train this young girl to work with customers. We made a simple request to change rooms or check out with a refund if no rooms were available because the nonsmoking room smelled like smoke. It is not our responsibility to deal with previous guests not following policies and choosing to smoke in their room. Why did this young woman freak out so significantly? We have yet to figure that out – maybe the managers are awful to her when she needs help. I don’t know. Either way, that is enough for me to never stay here again and recommend others to also not stay there.

Nice hotel with nice price

Looks rough on the outside, but not bad inside. Staff is excellent; very friendly and helpful! Had the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. However, it could use a new paint job. Would recommend to anyone.

HORRIBLE!
DO NOT STAY HERE! The toilet seat is broken, the sheets really smell, and the iron doesn’t work. A trifecta for a disaster if you are business traveler. I know the rates are cheap, but their service does not even meet the minimum standards, in my opinion. What a shame. :(
At least the outside looks nice.

The plus: clean, cheap, and good location.
The cons: It’s an Econo Lodge with furniture, carpet, walls, sheets, bedspreads, etc. that looks about 30 years old. It needs some serious updating.

Shit’s got Econo in the name. It means it. But even though it’s a cheapy it was clean, quiet, and conveniently located.
I used a rollaway for the first time here. As a being of large dimension I found it too short for me. I remedied this by lining it up with the chair and putting my head where the two bordered. Gained me an extra four inches, and don’t we all want that?
A neat touch was the poorly scrawled ballpoint message in the area guide that demonstrated a former patron’s feelings on both the subjects of «Indians» and «Nigers». Ahh, racists… so dumb. Either that or oddly ultra-​specific in being racist against a specific landlocked republic in Africa.
While there was no mint on my pillow, there were two bars of white chocolate neatly wrapped near the bathroom sink. I did not find them at all palatable.

Clean, friendly and close to downtown, attractions and the university. The owners were knowledgeable about local food and things to do, and were warm without being overbearing or nosy. A major plus is the food trucks across the street as well as plenty of cheap nearby dining indoors. See my review for «Alexandria» Lebanese café nearby.
You’ll love the cheap, fabulous public transportation and good people watching. The price seems fair considering location; if you want cheaper, there’s always the shadier motel down the street. I agree with the former reviewer that the rooms are clean, beds decent and the like. Give the ol’ Econo a shot when you’re visiting. If you want a less generic experience there are plenty of cool «boutique» hotels around.

It’s an econo lodge, I’m not expecting the ritz. This was just fine for what I needed during my stay in portland.
It was very easy to use the wi-​fi and the room was clean. The bathroom was actually a lot bigger than I expected.
It wasn’t a huge room, but it’s not like I was spending my trip sitting in a hotel room. It’s at the right price and fits my needs just fine. I wouldn’t have a problem at all staying here again.

I stayed here for one night before Easter in April 2011. Just stayed for 3 nights in July 2011. This is a clean, no frills motel. The property is a family run business. They are nice and helpful. It is close to the waterfront and also Portland State University. it is very close to the streetcar line and the iMax Green line. For the Budget conscience — this one is a great choice. I’ve been in two different rooms and also was with a friend who has stayed there several times. Clean, well kept, no frills — basic motel. The AC worked and the heat worked.

This place was simple, but good. I was a bit apprehensive, but needed a place to stay for a couple of nights and wanted to be close to downtown and the bus lines. This place is right by several cafes, and very close to public transportation. It was one of the cheapest places downtown as well.
Pros: Clean. Very clean. This is important to me. Nice room, modern bathroom, and again, priced well for downtown. The location was good, and made getting around very easy. The continental breakfast wasn’t amazing, but it worked. I like bagels, they had bagels.
Cons: The blankets are thin (as in one thin blanket and one comforter) and the pillows are not amazing. Some of the towels are reminiscent of gym towels. In general, it’s a cheap place that has nice, clean rooms. That didn’t bother me much. The lady at the desk got a little snappy with me once — after four perfectly nice encounters, so it may have been a fluke — but that’s a bit annoying in a hospitality field.
I’d go back here if I needed to stay in downtown Portland again. There’s no reason to pay twice the price for thicker towels, blankets, and pillows. I just want a nice clean room in a convenient place, and that’s what I got.

This hotel was chosen whilst en route to Portland. We were looking for something downtown for a reasonable price, and this nailed it.
It is located just on the edge of all the downtown fun, right across from a line of awesome street food vendors and two blocks away from the street cars.
The rooms are clean, the beds are adequate and the price was reasonable at $ 99 a night. I would have liked it better if it was cheaper but I think that’s just my wishful thinking.
This is a motel style place, so be aware your door opens up to the world not a hallway.

Is it fancy? no.
But it is along the free portion of the TriMet. (i.e. centralized)
And it’s also got a very helpful, responsive staff.
And it’s also clean and has an iron in-​room w/​o asking and a nice bathroom.
And it’s affordable.
I’d recommend it to anyone who is really just looking for a place that is comfortable and convenient without any perks. When I need that kind of thing in Portland next, this is the place i’m going.
