LOVED this place! So many beautiful cards made in the US! I bought a couple Mother’s Day cards here, as well as an awesome own and shingles notebook. The lady was helpful and I wanted to buy out the whole store. As someone who likes to pick out blank cards, they hr lots to choose from.

This is the best card/​stationary store in Portland. You will find yourself losing track of time in the massive selection of cards for every occasion. I always find multiple meaningful cards and small gifts, regardless if I am looking for something specific, or just popping in during a lunch break. The price point is on target and the full experience of the shop is wonderful.

Ecru is a darling store with a great selection of stationery products and gifts. My husband and I were in Portland for the day and we are total stationery snobs so we stopped in. The sales associate was very friendly and knowledgeable and she even gave us some background on Portland and the store itself. It’s a beautifully curated selection and organized layout making it very easy to shop.

I can’t recommend this place enough! LeAnn helped me put together wedding invitations last minute and was SO extremely helpful and awesome to work with. She was patient and got the job done super fast for a great cost. I highly recommend this store for your wedding stationary needs! :)

I was on an adventure downtown today and I stumbled upon this shop and I just had to check it out! I’m sooooo glad that I did too! Sandra was there and she was soooo nice I told her I was visiting from out of town and she told me of a few places to check out and was so friendly and helpful! There is so much more in this shop than just stationary it’s awesome!

If you’re into local artisan cards, you’ll love Ecru. Amazing selection of cards + gifts, knick knacks, journals, wrapping paper, etc. Friendly staff and prompt service!

Amazing help today. We took awhile there looking at papers and envelopes. The attendant was informative, thorough, and friendly. I will go back and will recommend the shop to my friends. The prices weren’t bad for being such a cute place.

Dare I say I like this stationary shop more than Oblation? Because I do, I really do. There were so many different types of cards that jumped out to me that I walked out with far more than I intended to buy — oops!
If you’re looking for a Portland-​specific card, they have several options to choose from. It was a nice surprise to find many local-​based card makers, showing the awesomeness that is our city, available to purchase.
This is a great place to pick up gifts as well. They have a wide selection of odds and ends that easily would make the perfect gift for someone.

Love this place and buy cards and gifts here all the time. My only complaint is that they had some really old dog biscuits on the counter, but maybe those are gone now, and how Portland is that? Complaining about the dog treats when the cards are so much fun you get excited about paper goods?
You can get cheaper cards at the grocery but there’s something so elegant and personal about sending a letterpress card. Really makes sending cards meaningful.

This is a fantastic shop. It’s great looking, full but seems clean and uncluttered, and just fun to be in. I take visiting out-​of-​towners here to find things they *must* have — in contrast (really!) to the sameness of Portland’s other paper stores. I have stopped in for a birthday card for a kid, an anniversary card for a 70^th anniversary, gifts for friends. Pads of paper, calendars, and a careful selection of good things. Inexpensive custom stationery if you want it. Terrific holiday cards. Letterpress for your friends who must have it :) I even found cool stuff to send to my 10-​year old niece at camp — to share with cabinmates! The owner is one of my favorite shopkeepers in Portland: welcoming, smart, and cheerful. Not a touch of cool irony. Great place.

Sending and receiving cards these days is special. With quick, easy technology like email and texting, we lose the personal touch of sending a handwritten note. One visit to Ecru and you’ll want to send that friend who lives on the other side of the country a note!
Ecru has a gorgeous selection of cards and notebooks. I was in a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the visit. The helpful young woman working there told me she updates their blog and takes many of the pictures. I didn’t get to meet the store owner, but hope to the next time I’m visiting. I loved this store’s creative atmosphere.
When I got home I checked out their beautiful website and blog and plan to return soon for more cards.

I’ve never been a huge fan of greeting cards; they so often seem cookie-​cutter and impersonal, but ever since discovering Ecru, I am the biggest card-​giver I know.
The staff is friendly without talking your ear off and the store is warm and inviting without being too «cutesy» like many other local stationary shops. With a huge variety of greeting cards, stationary and gifts, I find myself searching my calendar for an excuse to walk to Ecru and check out their unique, high-​quality and often hilarious offerings. Despite being sometimes twice as much as the greeting cards found at your local grocery store, the price is more than worth the personal touch Ecru’s cards provide.

This is such a cute store with a lovely selection of cards. Every time I come here, the staff is friendly without being pushy and I never feel rushed to make a decision. I can always count on finding that perfect gift or card… way to go, Ecru!

Ecru Modern Stationer is one of my favorite stores in Portland. It’s not just the selection of fabulous cards, stationery, pens and other papery goodness – it’s all about the owner: LeAnn is simply sunshine on a stick!
The shop definitely has a great vibe, and that’s why there are so many regular customers. It’s a happy place with great merchandise. What more could you want?

While working down the block I needed to get some wedding cards before my mom harassed me one more time. I locked the door after we closed and made a mad dash as they were closing in 10 minutes. The woman behind the counter was friendly and did not mind that I was there at closing. She asked what I was looking for and helped me pick out some pre-​made Thank You cards. I also asked about custom cards and she told me that the owner knew more than her, although she did give me a detailed run-​down along with showing me samples.
I bought some cards and a matching pen and returned the next day for the owner to show me more custom cards. They were gorgeous, albeit out of my price range and she was kind and not pushy about it.
I have since been here twice and found everything I was looking for and more with ease. The store is neat and well organized and the staff knowledgeable. I also know two people who had baby announcements made here and they were so amazing!

ecru modern stationer is a newish shop in the northside of the pearl district. it carries many fun lines of stationery/​cards (like snow & graham and o plus d) including local designer, cecily ink. very cute and friendly. and the owner keeps her own blog too.

This is the greatest paper store. Owner, LeAnn Dolan really knows how to make customers feel special. I love her cards. I find that I can’t buy them anywhere else now that I know about Ecru. I have ordered custom Christmas cards and invitations for a party. They came in on time and perfect in every way.

Stationery may not be something that you think about much, but once you visit a happening store like Ecru Modern Stationer, you’ll never look at paper the same again.
I love stores like this for fun gifts. I cracked up reading a message note that you can give out to obnoxious cell phone users who are being too loud in public. We wondered whether someone would actually give one of these out. And then I thought, yes, my mom definitely would since she hates them. Another fun item that caught my eye was a set of miniature crayons. You can find a gift for anyone here that would likely be the most popular at a party. I’d describe the goods as nothing less than unique and anything but plain.
Of course there’s plenty of stationery and greeting cards to pick from, which I’ll be going back soon to look at more. For some insane reason, every time I try and browse in stores like this, I always have to go to the bathroom so can’t stay long!
Tip: The message notes make a great gift for just because. Most made me laugh and all of them made me take another look.
