Ate here a few times during our week long stay at the Double Tree. I was thankful to have good food conveniently located when my boys or I were exhausted. The burgers were good. Service was amazing

Pretty decent burger here, although i’m not a fan of a pretzel bread bun, the meat was right on and seasoned well. Fries tried a bit too hard to be special and came up lacking. 20 bucks all in for a burger and a drink is acceptable for this type of venue. saw a couple plates of the smoked wings go out and they looked amazing. Service was kind of sketchy, while seated at the bar, i was well attended to, but the bartender looked like he was getting his ass kicked and other staff not doing much to help out. a couple of people got blown off and huffed away during my stay. also seemed to be a lot of confusion on getting walk up drinks added to a tab you started at a table with a server… sort of odd for what should have been a straight forward bar operation. overall, i’d eat here again, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

No good? No good. Sat at the bar right in front of their register and still waited 15 minutes to be addressed, when the place was not full at all, and several employees were chatting right in front of me. That’s fine, maybe they had stuff going on. The main bartender was a major jerk. Bald guy with a square head. Asshole. Acted like we were an inconvenience. When we paid he said very jerky-ly«Seeeee ya!» Like he really hated us, and we were just there peacefully trying to get a drink before a movie. Geez. Sexist, homophobic, just an asssss??? Who knows. Avoid this place.

We were staying at the hotel and got hungry really late, so we didn’t have too many options. Their food isn’t anything special. The prices are pretty high, however it’s something you would expect for a lobby bar/restaurant. I would suggest to venture out of the hotel and find something else.

Solid food and great local craft beer selection. My visit was on a Thursday evening, so there weren’t a terrible amount of people, but There was enough to fill the main room. Service was exceptional, lending recommendations on both food and beer which were spot on. I went with the burger which came out exactly as I had ordered it, and the local beers hit the spot. Would definitely recommend this place of you are staying in the Doubletree or find yourself nearby.

Pretty legit for a hotel bar. Came on a Saturday night and it was pretty cracking. They have a flight of beer for $ 8 where you can pick four beers from the 10 different types of beer they have to choose from. The staff is super friendly as well.

I’ve been here twice now. Once with a large group about two months ago for dinner and just now, all by myself for lunch. When I was here with the large group it took over 30 minutes before they even took our order. We waited an hour to be served. The food was okay. Overpriced, as you would expect at a hotel restaurant, but also just not great. This time staying at the Doubletree I thought I’d give it another try. I was there on a Sunday at 1 pm. It wasn’t packed but it wasn’t slow either. I was told to sit anywhere. Five minutes later I got a menu and a promise that the server would be back to take my order. Ten minutes later I left, not because it was an absolutely inordinate amount of time to wait but because the longer I sat there the more I thought about how I didn’t really want to wait for mediocre overpriced food. There are too many other places to go in walking or tram distance.

Burger=5*. Salmon Po’ Boy=1*. the salmon Po Boy was way too light on Salmon and too heavy on Shrimp! Did you run ou of salmon? The burger on the otherhand was quite good and fairly priced d for a good burger at a hotel. the fries are very good with both the burger and Po Boy.

First meal was the burger and fries. Fries were lightly salted with parsley. Despite that, they tasted just like Burger King fries. They had that same sickly oiled flavor. Burger was missing the bacon, although I had asked for no cheese. Lettuce was wilted. While the bun was tasty, the burger fell flat overall. Only the fact that it was made with St. Helens beef was a saving grace. Even then quality was about par with a nearby national chain burger place. I tried again later with the pan seared prime rib. It was OK, but it wasn’t great. The gnocchi seemed like it was something pre-made from Costco. There was little flavor in it. The root vegetable mash on the surface sounds like it should have been great but it just fell flat. I also had the breakfast buffet at the restaurant area across the hallway. For the options available, the price was a little steep. The buffet comes with an omelet from the menu which turned out to be made with the type of eggs that are separated in a plant somewhere and then packaged into a milk carton. The buffet options consisted of what I expect from a hotel breakfast. Prepackaged muffins and breads, oatmeal, sad looking fruit, bacon(while the best part of the meal, because it’s bacon,) and sausage patties, etc. And lets not forget the orange juice that is from a fountain machine. Two things are obvious here. They’re trying, really, to fit meet the quality of food being put out in Portland. Their menu denotes Local, Gluten Free, Vegetarian AND Vegan options. But it’s also very apparent that they’re buying a few«local» ingredients and then relying on Sysco to bulk out the rest of their kitchen. Taking a good piece of meat and pairing it with three week old vegetables doesn’t make the vegetables better, it makes the meat worse. But the biggest problem was a consistent lack of service. For a hotel that hosts conventions almost every day of the year, their processes were incredibly terrible. Their first problem was a lack of staff at the bottom and being top heavy with management types. The second problem is a number of employees who didn’t ever seem to be doing any work. I observed that repeatedly, I see one show up, talk to another employee, deliver one or two items to a table, and then I’d never see them again. My first meal was at the bar. Despite sitting directly in front of his primary work space, the bartender didn’t ever fill my water glass until near the end of the meal and after I specifically asked. He spent a lot of time«discussing» with another server and a manager the on tap beer options and what to call it in the computer system. It also sounded to me that they were talking about adding a new brand of beer and passing it off as the old one. I hope I was wrong, but I’m pretty sure Portland can taste the difference between beers. The restaurant area was similar. The only person I saw really hustling was the poor girl who’s sole job seemed to be to keep the buffet filled. And even then she was failing because there was only one of her. There seemed to be three greeters, but only one of them was doing any work causing there to be a huge line. The other two(possibly managers,) seemed to disappear for long lengths of time. I somehow ended up with two different servers, one who took my initial order and then another who actually served me. Again I had issues getting refills on drinks because all the servers had so many tables to take care of that they couldn’t keep up. If they can fix the overall quality of food, and fix the service issues, then Gather can very easily be a four star experience.

A surprising good hotel restaurant and bar in the Portland Doubletree. The lounge is a popular gathering spot for all travelers and includes TVs for sports, full bar service and numerous comfortable tables and booths where weary travelers can relax. The servers are friendly and professional and the food is good, no wonder this is a popular venue in bustling Portland.

Located in the Doubletree Hilton which is where we were staying. Nice ambiance. Seat yourself, but we checked before monopolizing a 6-top with only 4 of us. No problem. It was slow, but I think we could have sat there regardless. Ordered a small Caesar. Emphasis on small. No zip to the dressing. Fish tacos. Breaded cod, not my preference, but knew that going in. Disappointing to the point of flavorless. Kids got OJ, fresh squeezed and some fruited lemonade(strawberry?raspberry?) that got a thumbs up. Not much in the way of follow-up from the waitstaff.

Gather Food & Drinks is located in the Doubletree by Hilton. A nice lounge space with a cozy fireplace, a few TVs and a bar — it’s a good alternative to the various restaurants in the Lloyd Centre area. My friend and I decided to spend a quiet evening at the hotel. We walked down and no one greeted us. We stood there until a server said to us: «seat yourself anywhere». A sign would be nice. I ordered a Portland Brewery IPA with my meal — the special of the night — rib eye steak with two eggs(done over easy — no option given) and two slice of garlic toast. My friend ordered the dungeness crab mac n cheese and calamari. My rib eye was cooked rare and perfectly seasoned. My only complaint of the meal was the fat that was left on the rib eye and the way the eggs were cooked. My friend’s Mac n cheese was good. Cheesy! Calamari was battered with the right amount, but squid size was kinda small. Perhaps a baby? Overall, the place is way better that the other restaurant in the hotel and if you tired and lazy. It’s great!

This is located inside the double tree portland. I sat here to use the Wifi and had a soda. I chatted with the bartender about food and our portland trip. The meals that were coming out looked awesome. It is a small place, however, for what it was inside a hotel I was decently impressed. Prices on the menu were decent.

I’ve been working in the Lloyd district for decades — I actually park in the Double Tree parking lot, so I’ve spent a lot of time in the hotel lobby, where everyone knows my name. That’s really the trick to successfully navigating the lobby — make friends. You see, most of those people have worked in that lobby longer than the average Unilocaler has been alive. And they must have one hell of a big fat pinko union in there because the service has always been slow, the food marginal, and the drinks strong.
So yeah, it’s true that these guys don’t run like the German rail system — hell they don’t run like Amtrak! But they’re friendly and call me by my first name. «Hey Bob, anytime time this month — okay?» «F@%k Y&^ Doug», Bob said. What are you going to do –right? I mean, Bobs family — right? So I know what you’re thinking: It’s a hotel — right? People don’t spend decades in a hotel making friends with the staff, so how is this going to work? Well, it doesn’t. People blowing through town expecting world class service in the Double Tree lobby are going to go home pissed off. Me, I don’t expect much, and brother, they deliver.

We’re heading to the Portland International Film Festival @ the Regal Lloyd Center across the parking lot from Double Tree which is where Gather is located, EXPECTING to have Mexican food. But. .. the Mexican restaurant is no longer there. Disappointed, we have no other choice but have lunch here! It was crowded, sports & musicians(of some sort) from colleges were staying @ the hotel, but what the heck! Sure, they were expensive, it’s a hotel and it’s not your neighborhood fast & carry restaurant, it’s where you mingle, hang out with your friends, take it easy have a drink.. .. I wasn’t sure what to order $ 15 for LUNCH? I have to make a choice we have 1hr. before our shift, so I ordered the Wild Columbia River Salmon. House greens, butternut squash, roasted beets, roasted cauliflower, green goddess. If I ate everything on my plate, it’s just perfect and not a single crumb left! It must be GOOD. Hubby ordered Fish & Chips. Coastal cod, rogue ale batter, house tarter sauce. I enjoyed hubby’s Fresh fries, too! He also likes his meal.(Photos on my profile). I started timing them, that way I can mention how long we have to wait, even though they were busy! Took exactly 15 mins. We’ve waited much longer, in other restaurants. So, I’m giving them 5 stars. BTW: instead of parking on the streets, park here, they will validate your parking for 2hrs.

Gross. I was at a seminar last weekend at the Doubletree Hotel and I had lunch here both days. The first time might have received 3 stars but the second day was so horrible I cannot possibly even consider suggesting the possibility that anyone waste a dime of their money here. The first day I had a sore throat so I sat at the bar and ordered a Hot Toddy. The bartender was very busy so I forgave the slow service. The tomato bisque was more than adequate(even good) and the Hot Toddy tasted sweet and lovely but the bar tender had dripped honey all down the side of my glass and served it to me sticky; like, honey dripping down 1⁄3 of the rim sticky. She was busy and very nice so I let it go. The next day my honey met me on my lunch break. I ordered the carnitas sandwich with sweet potato tater tots and a vodka on the rocks. The meat was no less than 70% fat. It was inedible. The bottom bread on the sandwich was so fat-saturated that it fell apart and we could not pick it up. The tater tots were bland; not even salted. My dude ordered fish tacos; they were burnt and fishy. Really, really fishy. I showed the waitress who didn’t give a rat’s ass, so I asked to speak to the manager. Then I asked her to exchange the drink she delivered for the one I actually ordered. After flagging her down. That took 10 minutes. After about 15 minutes, still staring at my plate of fat, I asked her if the manager was going to visit us. She said she would see if he was around; she hadn’t tried to track him down when we initially asked. He came, apologized our meal wasn’t up to par, did not clear our plates, took the sandwich and tacos off the bill, adjusting our bill to pay for the tots and went about his business. He didn’t ask us if we needed anything else. We did decide to order the BLT. It was fine. Creatively, it included prosciutto and fried green tomatoes and it sounded delicious. It was extremely bland and would receive a 2 ½−3 star rating it it stood alone outside of the crappy service. The place is overpriced, the help was indifferent, and the food was inedible. Save your money. You’d be better off at a crappy fast food chain.
