Ger-Brock Automotive

We recently took to Honda Fit’s to Ger-​Brock for maintenance and were very pleased with their service and prices. In the past we had always taken our cars to Beaverton Honda but after been totally ‘screwed over’ by Beaverton Honda we decided to find a good shop in our neighborhood. And a good shop we did find in Ger-​Brock! We will definitely return and recommend Ger-​Brock to others.

It seems that a lot more people have discovered this awesome shop! I waited too long to schedule my car for an oil change and pre-​trip inspection and when I did call a gent that said the next open time would be in 2+ weeks. Oh no! Dejected, I decided that I would just wing this moderate length road trip and hope for the best.
After thinking on it for the day, I called back to see if I could just get an oil change and this time I talked to a very nice woman that took a few more minutes and referred me to a different shop that she knows and trusts that could probably get me in sooner! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE for her! Thank you, nice lady! I was so appreciative and am now endlessly thankful to have a back-​up shop for when the timing doesn’t work out with Ger Brock.

We found this great mechanic on Unilocal so wanted to return the favors done by other reviewers and leave our own review. We had some work done on our ’92 Previa minivan and were really impressed with the service & price at Ger-​Brock. The price they gave us beat another estimate by a considerable amount and they also noticed that our tailgate needed new shocks which we had forgot to mention even though it was hitting us in the head every once in a while and resulting in hostile strings of profanities… We were glad when they called us up with a good price to repair those tailgate shocks. This place is obviously great since we had to wait over 2 weeks for our appointment — that was okay b/​c it wasn’t a major necessity, but in an emergency, I wonder if they’d find time to squeeze a client in. Our only suggestion to Ger-​Brock is that they make sure to include all the possible additional costs in their original quote over the phone. We were given a quote 2 weeks ago and when we dropped the car off yesterday, they said if they needed to align it after putting in struts and shocks, it would be an extra $ 100. As a brand new client, that made us skeptical that they were just trying to make an extra hundie, but when we picked the car up and were not charged that fee, we figured it was just an oversight on their part and see no need to subtract a star. Since people are used to being taken to the cleaners by unscrupulous mechanics, we think it would just be a best-​practice for these honest guys to include those potential extra costs up front on their phone estimates. Thanks, Ger-​Brock — we’ll be back for sure! (Hopefully no time soon though!)

I brought in my Mazda truck for an checkup. They we’re very honest and couldn’t find any problems. They only charged me $ 33 they could have charged a lot more and I wouldn’t have known any differently. I highly recommend this shop and will be back again

I tried out Ger-​Brock after several neighbors recommended them on NextDoor. I just took my car in for an oil change and to replace lights. They were reasonably priced, nice and have a comfy waiting room complete with WiFi. The whole service took less than an hour and they were great about their recommendations and not at all pushy. I’ve definitely found my new auto repair shop!

I’ve been living in Portland for over 10 years and wish I found this place way before this year. It is the first mechanic in my life where I felt confident I wasn’t being taken for a ride. There’s no gimmick and special attraction, just honest and timely service which is what you’d want from an automotive shop.
For example, when I wanted to check my car before selling and reconnect my horn Jay’s Garage had disconnected years ago due to alarm faulty issue and charged me almost $ 200, Ger-​Brock only charged less than $ 30 to reconnect and make sure there were no issues before selling the car.

My ’07 Infiniti recently turned over 30,000 miles, but due to it’s age it is also out of warranty. No need to go back to Beaverton Infiniti who’ll rob me blind. I gave Ger-​Brock a chance based on the Unilocal hive-​mind reviews and that fact that it was in the neighborhood. I was not disappointed. Really good guys and no b.s. upsell. I wanted the Schedule I service that the owner’s manual recommends and nothing more since I don’t really drive my car that much. They did exactly that and suggested that I replace my battery since it wasn’t holding a charge anymore. I noticed that my battery was lugging a bit this winter, so that was excellent advice and I took them up on it. The maintenance work was performed within the estimated time and within the estimated budget. Bonus: they also fixed a broken clip on the center console free of charge! Those are the kind of thoughtful details that will keep me coming back. My only issue is that the drivers side door panel was greasy, so no 5^th star. But that was easily fixed with a little Windex.

We moved to St. Johns a few months ago and have gone to three auto mechanics so far. We have finally found our place! Ger Brock is fast, fair pricing, honest, and very communicative. I will never go anywhere else!

Once or twice a year I bring my car in for an oil change or tune up or to fix a window that won’t roll up or down or to find out if my old car is road worthy for long trips. Bad news this last time: my clutch is soft and I need a new transmission.
Dealing with this kind of information is on the same level as understanding how electricity works: faith. I trust these guys are not ripping me off on to put more money into things I don’t understand. They are plain spoken, they look you in the eye and you can see them working hard. That’s about all I need to trust a car mechanic.
The culture of consumerism, new cars, cars as status symbols is repellant. Maybe that’s why my car is filthy inside and out. Every time I drive I’m an anti-​advertisement for cars. I saw someone staring at my car the other day and I wondered if she was staring because it was so dirty. The dirt is mostly sap from my neighbor’s tree mixed with black particulate matter absorbed from driving in the city. It looks smeared sludge that I never notice until I see someone else noticing it.
But according to the dude at Ger-​Brock, I can sink $ 4000 into my 2001 Honda CRV or buy a newer used car. This guy might have saved my life going across the 205 bridge to Vancouver to swim at my club. Or at least a severe panic attack if the clutch died as I tried to maneuver into the emergency lane across two or three lanes of cars going sixty miles an hour.

I have since moved away from Portland, but a friend of mine recommended Ger-​Brock while I lived there, and I’m so glad she did. They were honest, affordable, and I never had any issues! I would drop my car off in the morning, take the MAX (which is in walking distance) to work and then back at the end of the day to pick it up! They’d keep me posted during the day on their status. Can’t go wrong with Ger-​Brock!

I’ve been going to Ger-​Brock off and on for a bunch of years now, I even tell friends that I feel are getting ripped off from other places to go here.
Honest work, great people, and they definitely specialize in Japanese autos. The only downfall is that the neighborhood is now very busy, and so are they.
All, in all a good place to go that supports mechanics that have stuck with them through the years.

Great, affordable, and honest service! What more could you ask for? They’ve given me great quotes and consistently done the work for even less than they quoted me. Now that shows honesty.

The work they did was good, and I assume the pricing was fair (I don’t know much about cars and thankfully haven’t had many car troubles in my time). I do have a problem with their communication though.
My check engine light came on, so I had brought it to an auto parts store to get the free diagnostic check. I called Ger Brock because they were relatively close to my home and had good reviews on here and other online review sites. When I spoke with them and told them what the diagnostics check had resulted in, they told me it would be «about an hour» to actually diagnose the problem, and depending on the problem (but based on what my diagnostics check resulted in) it would be fixed within a work day. I made an appointment to drop off my car one morning at 8am (when they open) and they said they’d give me a call.
I assumed that when they said it would take about an hour to diagnose the problem, they would call me roughly an hour after I dropped off the car. Nope. After a couple of calls to them, I finally got a call back 4.5 hours later telling me what the problem was, and that they wouldn’t get the part until the next day. I was kind of ticked, because if they had worked on my car first thing in the morning, I’m guessing they would have been able to get my part earlier and have the car fixed by the end of the work day. Because of all of this, I had to put out my friends, asking for rides to/​from work, and when I finally got a solid time to come back to pick up my car, I had to wait another hour in the waiting area because it wasn’t quite finished yet.
If you have a lot of time and other resources to get to/​from the places you need to be, I would recommend Ger-​Brock. If you’re fairly dependent on your car though, I might go elsewhere.

I have been taking my Infiniti’s to Ger-​Brock for years. Shawn is my usual contact there. They did an auto to manual transmission swap that went flawless. The transmission I supplied eventually failed, and they supplied another 5 Speed transmission for an extremely reasonable price. Honest and intelligent. Wouldnt go anywhere else!

I went to Ger-​Brock after reading these reviews. Due to a miscommunication, Ger-​Brock ended up charging me for work I never requested. After talking with Don, he refused to charge me for the extra work (even after I offered to pay for some of it).
I got off to a bit of a rough start with Ger-​Brock, but they were up-​front and honest about their mistakes through the entire process. They also stayed in communication as problems arose. I’m happy with the service I received. There were some bumps in the road, but they made sure I came away a happy customer. Everyone makes mistakes, but most don’t people don’t take the time to admit and correct them. Ger-​Brock did.

Terrific mechanics. Fair prices. They won’t do anything unnecessary. They once did make a misdiagnosis, but after they discovered that they corrected it and gave me a discount for my trouble. As far as I can tell they are totally competent and totally honest — exactly what I seek in a car-​repair shop!

I took my brothers truck there to get a second opinion. They told us that less needed to be done than the previous mechanic said and had it done in a week. great work.
my only complaint is that they took a little while to give us the estimate… but besides that they were great.
i will take other cars there in the future.

I thought I would marinate for a week or so to see how my car has been running since taking it to Ger-​Brock. So far, she’s running as she did before the issues arose.
On my way home from work about 2.5 weeks ago my car started to shut down on me in the middle of getting onto I-​84. Lugging, hesitating, jerking, BAM! She was toast.
I called my mechanic down in Eugene who is one of the few HONEST mechanics I know. He had a friend recommend Ger-​Brock. I had my car towed there and they had about a 2 day delay getting to it due to having other card ahead of mine. That’s a good sign to see them looking so busy.
I spoke with Shawn when I dropped my car off. The ONLY thing that chapped my ass was I clearly said, «Please call me before you start working on my car and let me know what is wrong, and what the charges are so I can make sure that I can pay you for it.» That wasn’t the case.
I got a call about 3 days later saying my car was fixed and ready to go and it would cost $ 275. Sure, I was expecting a much higher bill, thank goodness it wasn’t, I was able to pay. BUT if this would’ve been a $ 600+ charge for services, I wouldn’t have been able to throw down the chips for it right off the bat.
They were some what unclear as what the real issue was. It was generalized as «ignition issues». They said, «Basically you needed a tune up and an oil change.» This sounded a little off to me, not knowing EXACTLY what caused the problem… other than «ignition issues».
My car is up and running as it was before, the work is gauranteed, and really I am very happy that it’s running. The cost was reasonable, and Shawn and Don were both really nice and helpful.
Since I dont know of many other places that offer honest service at a decent price, I will be using Ger-​Brock for auto repairs while living in Portland.

Forgive me for I have strayed…

oh and Beaterville is next door for breakfast.
They’re a bit of a drive from us, but we will never stray again (see my other reviews).
Unfortunately, they don’t do transmissions.

My brother recommended this place to us and it is a great find! They are efficient, reasonably priced and totally trustworthy. Definitely a good place to go for car repair.
