I attended a wedding at the German American Society. This place is a real gem! I have driven by a million times and never knew such a beautiful venue was right in the heart of NEP. The hardwood oak finishes in the lobby set the tone for a wonderful experience in this cultural hub. The grand room which held the reception and ceremony was truly marvelous. Five stars for the G.A.S. of Portland.

I attended the German American Society’s Saturday school one year before I began high school. The teachers there were always very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; and there were also many native speakers employed there.
When I first began the program, I knew absolutely no German. I started at the first year level; and I can say that the Saturday school program gave me an incredibly strong foundation of the language. I was able to begin regular classes at high school with a good head start.
If I had I not had the opportunity to take German in high school, I would have definitely continued with the Saturday School program. It’s a great program for adults who don’t have access to a high school or college program, ect.
