Wilshire Park

I’ve been driving past this park for years, but have never stopped to check it out. But this year my company selected Wilshire as the location for our summer picnic.
I was happily surprised at how shady and spacious our reserved picnic area was. We had plenty of room for badminton, corn hole, tug-​of-​war, 3-​legged race and Frisbee.
We had to pay $ 62 vehicle access fee to be allowed to drive up to our area to unload load, but it was worth it.
It was about 80 degrees and we had plenty of shade :)

I guess in July it tends to get hot here. Not Texas hot, but with global warming everyone will catch up. Wilshire Park, gratefully has plenty of tree coverage and lots and lots of shade.
I recently moved up to this area and I’m quite literally a half a block from the park, but it took me almost two weeks to finally take a walk around the place. I do like the shade. They have a good kids playground area complete with a giant metal slide. I didn’t think any place did that anymore. But with the trees, the sun really doesn’t get to it. The park also has two baseball fields and an ample stretch for runners along with bars and wood blocks along the path to keep the muscles loose. It’s not a huge park and the water elements have long since been shut down. At this time of year they need it back up. Also this is one of the parks that does kids movies on Saturday nights, we can hear it from the house.
It’s a nice, quiet park to visit and I will do plenty of that. Enjoy.

Close to my house so we spend a lot of time here. The playground was great when my kids were younger but now the equipment isn’t as appealing because it’s geared towards little children. The merry-​go-​round gets the most attention from my 7 and 8 year olds.
The dog park is so-​so. It’s not that big and it’s not fenced so sometimes you get non-​dog people wandering through who get pissed when a pooch greets them. That’s annoying.
The dirt path that surrounds the park is perfect for running, any time of day.

Safe and well maintained, nice for dogs and kids.

Well lit, nice jogging spot in the pre-​dawn hours. Safe, good quality sidewalks, and largely uncrowded — cannot really ask for more at 4am.

Pretty park… lots and lots of trees, good playground, and a small dog area. Great place to lounge in the summer if you want to find some shade– and a primo place to play frisbee or bocce [lots of grassy/​tree area]. In terms of the dog area– meh. It is small, not fenced, and just not that exciting, even when there are other people there.
Good neighborhood park, and will continue to be my fav spot to go kick back and play some BOCCE!

I’ve done so many walks here with my girlfriend who used to live not even a block away, that I can zen walk on that soft crushed path of earthy compost that wraps around its periphery. Great park for jogging, walking, thinking.
Can be considered boring by some, with a little baseball diamond and a small playground, but suited my purposes just fine. hashing out life together… heart on the surface, 2 friends facing each other… getting through the muddy waters of life and doing our best. Drove by it recently and thought about all of those many memories. Wrapped up in a park’s landscape.

23 month old had a great time here today. Sandbox cleverly designed and with a fun collection of left behind sand toys. Good bucket swings. Lovely trees. Lots of different things going on (baseball, barbecues, secret merry go round). Some muddy patches in the grass and not many places for parents to sit near the playground. Diverse, eclectic, pretty, clean. Good times

despite the possibly feces infested sand pit that my daughter seems to love this park is the best. it has a lot of greenery for picnics, a dog park, a tiny tots playground and a playground for bigger kids. there’s often a lot of moms and i haven’t encountered any sleezy people yet. its definitely my favorite park to lounge in and let the babe play.
