They suck. Don’t order food, pretzels take at least 20 plus minutes… on a freakin Monday afternoon. I think the kids doing the cooking are on an endless break. Beer is so so, plenty of other choices in the area.

Loved this place for years until they changed their food menu a few months back. Not as great as it used to be! But the staff and beer selection are still awesome. Please bring back the old menu!

went there today, my birthday. walked in at 1055. the doors were unlocked and the open sign was on. we walked in and were asked to leave until they opened. if you don’t want somebody in the establishment, don’t leave the door unlocked and don“t turn on the open sign. christ

Best burger and fries I’ve had in a really long time. Great beer and cider selections to boot. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area!

Went to GD for HH on Friday at 4:30. Not too crowded so we got to sit in the sun on their spacious patio. I like their HH menu, seems pretty reasonably priced with a good selection. The Pork Sliders are great. Maybe not enough for one decent sized man, but add a salad and you’re all set. My buddy and I shared the Pork slider plate(not on HH menu), upcharged for truffle fries, and added a bonus HH order of a slider. Enough food to take the edge off and let us drink a few of their strong ales. I heard the waitress say how many taps they have, but I forget what she said. There are plenty though! They were having a Barley Brown promo, so we tried a few of those. I would say the only downside is that they don’t do flights. But after we each finished our first beer, we just kept the glasses and split the next two that we got. Ends up being a little cheaper than ordering a 10 oz glass. My second time here and I’m sure I’ll be back for a third!

Easily one of the best beer destinations in Portland, with an expansive — and partially covered — beer garden, food, and several areas to sit indoors. A voluminous insulated walk-in cooler keeps hundreds of kegs at proper temperature for optimal drinking satisfaction out on the patio. As part of the Rogue business empire, Green Dragon operates with solid backing and access to the best beers out there, leading to a wide selection of beers on tap that are hard to find elsewhere in Portland. A small selection of bottles — featuring mostly Rogue — rounds out the beer menu. Taps are split into two areas, with ciders and other specialties thrown into the mix. The Buckman Botanical Brewery operates alongside the GD, with fermenters and brewing equipment visible from the main seating area. The resulting brews usually occupy a half-dozen of the taps, so you can enjoy the efforts of the small brewery alongside the others. Weekly events include a ‘meet the brewer’ night on Thursdays and ‘tap takeovers’ or new brew release events. They host other larger events as well, including a yearly cask event which attracts a decent crowd, the Pliny release party, and full-on brewer’s dinners. The food menu is a secondary concern, although it’s got a few decent items that’ll help soak up the beer(I think). I’ve had the ‘Belgian’ fries, which just barely held me over to our next stop. I can’t recall much more than that, so either the food menu is uninspiring or I’ve gotten really drunk every time I ate there(I suppose that’s a possibility…). Usually if the places I drink at have decent food I remember. Well, it’s not as if there aren’t a dozen decent places to eat within 10 blocks anyways. Green Dragon Bistro is really all about the beer. They accept credit cards, have excellent service without the snotty attitude, and table service on the patio, the average crowd is a bit older and, dare I say, more sophisticated. IF you’re planning a weekend beer trip I’d chose the Dr4g0n over that other place that starts with A if you’re over 30 and can drink your beer without showing off your sleeve tatts or have fewer thn 3 piercings. 5 stars, my favorite taphouse in Portland, tied with Bailey’s for my Best of Portland. An absolute must-stop if you’ve got limited time in Portland but want access to a bunch of great beers, and the location makes for a great starting or ending point for nearby brewery visits.

Super fun brewery with the nicest wait staff you’ll ever meet! We had a bit of a unique situation because my company opened a bar tab and bought beer and food for everyone for a Portland Startup Week event, but either way the wait staff were very accommodating and attentive. They have an extensive list of top notch beers and quirky décor that lends to a fun environment. I had the Green Dragon Seamus and the Cherry cider which were both excellent. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts Green Dragon!

We were here with a large group celebrating a birthday and ordering lots of beer and drinks. My sister and I felt like ordering a little something to soak up the liquor so we decided to peruse the menu. Their menu is bar-food and nothing sophisticated, but that was cool with us. The truffle fries were calling to us, truffle fries are my weakness, and if I’m going to be bad, I might as well get what I like. They came out on a tiny little plate, barely warm, with absolutely NO flavor. Literally the worst fries I have had anywhere. And they charge 6 $ for them like they are a delicious & gourmet treat. Limp, tasteless, and disappointing. I won’t even bother trying anything else here.

I’ll start by declaring that I am not a beer drinker. This being the case, I have always been able to find an alternative tasty adult beverage on the Green Dragon menu. The last time I found myself here I was entertaining an out of town friend who loves visiting breweries and trying new beers. This place is great for that as they have 50 beers/ciders on tap! The place was slammed as it was a Saturday night, but we were still able to snag a table shortly after arriving. We did receive table service after a bit of a wait, which gave us the opportunity to look over the extensive drink menu. Our server was nice enough and came back to check in on us a couple times during the course of our visit. This is a great place to go with a larger group of people. This may be part of the reason it gets so loud in here. It’s a decent enough beer hall, but there are other options in town I rather frequent. Still a great place to bring out of town beer-loving guests.

Very cool brewpub associated with Buckman Botanical Brewery and across the street from Rogue Nation News Network and Cascade Brewing. Tons of tap handles(30+ split between two bars) with guest beers primarily local, as well as some out of state ones like Stone from San Diego, California. It’s worth the visit when this side of town. Visit Commons and Cascade when in the area too.

Tip your bartender! These guys(and gals) are working hard! Well, this place was one of many brewpubs we visited during our time in Portland. My husband became a fan after he saw how many beers they had on tap — there were TV screens that displayed a revolving menu of all the options. He ended up going with Wet Fruit by Coalition Brewing Co. and Better Off Red IPA by Migration Brewing, both of which he claimed were just okay. By this point in the night, I was hungry more than anything else, so I wanted something salty and delicious. We ordered some tater tots, which were surprisingly REALLY good, and not just because I was hungry. They had a seasoning on them that I can’t really describe, and they were crispy. It was really crowded so we weren’t able to find a table or even two seats together at the bar. Probably best to prepare to stand if you’re going on a Friday or Saturday night at peak hours.

Came here on a total accident but glad we did! Loved that there’s just a big variety of beers and our bartender had some good recommendations. Beers are definitely not that expensive and the décor is certainly interesting. For some odd reason, it’s quirkiness reminds me a great deal of University of Beer in Davis, CA. Sort of like cool spot to be at but not like the classiest beers but still great if you want to try a bunch of things. Honestly, I’d go for a quick beer and enjoy people watching!

I am confused if we were at Green Dragon or the other place connected at it. We didn’t think it was going to be very good, but honestly were quite surprised. The fruit cake stout was very good as was the corn beer. Both sound like they would be really Ick, but so good. We sat at the small bar at the front and had really great service. It was the seventh stop of our brewery journey, so it could have been pretty mediocre, but I think it was memorable.

Great place! First visit arrived just before 5pm, ordered a Belgian quad and sat at the bar. Got some happy hour food with some friends. Had a great time, service was excellent, and helped my friend by giving several samples to help her figure out what to drink. My food was good as well as my beer. The manager was extremely helpful with information about the beers we were drinking. I found this place very relaxing and with a great feel. Nobody made me feel rushed or uncomfortable in any way. I will absolutely return when I am in the area. They have a new digital beer menu which is nice. Everything is clearly written in front of me and picking a beer is easy.

For whatever reason, we just weren’t feeling Green Dragon when stopping in between visits to the area’s craft breweries. Might have been that the day-time vibe is just lacking, or that I somehow managed to pick a dud beer out of a pretty large list, but whatever it was we decided not to waste any more time out of our short visit to Portland here and moved on quickly to some more nearby breweries.

The Green Dragon is one of my favorite pubs in SE Portland. I could say a lot about this place, but I’ll limit it to a few key points that you need to know. TAPS! So many taps. They technically have the ability to have more than 60 beers on tap, though more often they keep it around 55. Expect 5ish beers from in-house Buckman Botanical Brewery and another beer or two from Green Dragon Brew Crew. They usually have a couple beers on nitro, maybe one in a cask, and a nice variety of styles. Did you know these guys are owned by Rogue? Neither did I. They don’t rub it in your face, but this is actually a Rogue pub. Service is comparable to other Rogue joints(read: mediocre). Is it summer? You should grab a seat outside! First time visitors might not know there is a patio, but there is and it’s lovely. Because there is so much space, both inside and out, this place never feels quite as crowded as other noteworthy SE beer bars like Horse Brass or Belmont Station. Because it isn’t constantly crowded, this is a great place to spread out and play a board game while you have a few pints. They have a decent happy hour menu from 3 – 6 and 9-close. No drink discounts but several $ 3 – 5 food options to munch while you’re drinking.

Second time here and both were pleasant. The patio was great and they have a little indoor garden you can check out while you wait for your food. Amazing selection of beer and cider on tap. The food was good too. Over all a great experience. I’d recommend coming after work with friends or coworkers. A lot of space to spread out on the patio. My friend got the Reuben and liked it. I got the fish and chips and was happy to see 4 pieces of good size fish on my plate and I paid under 13 $… I feel like Oregon is so stingy when it comes to fish and chips.

Came here for a couple of drinks and apps and sat in the patio. It just seemed like another bar/brewery to me, but what really stood out is how polite the waitress was. She was genuinely friendly and good at her job. I feel like I got pulled pork sliders and french fries that were actually pretty good. In total, it was pretty reasonably priced — two drinks each and a couple of apps, I wanna say we spent $ 33 with a tip. I’ll be going back if I ever find myself in the neighborhood again.

We were looking for a place to take our out of town guests that love beer. We headed to the Green dragon. They have many beers on tap, which is a plus. It’s perfect, that we were able to order to each of our preferences. We were a party of 5, and each of us ordered to our liking and were satiated. Whether it was an IPA, a stout, a red or a cider. They had it all. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The entire table ordered the kobe burgers. They were juicy and delicious. Cooked perfectly. The wasabi mayonnaise that accompanied the burgers, I didn’t really care for. There’s something about the place, that I am not too fond off. Can’t put my finger on it.

It’s a beer hall. Woo Hoo. Mmmmmmm good beer. So much to choose from and so much talking back from my liver. I love the beer around this town and to find a place that has 50 or more of them, on tap, in one location isn’t a place I’ve found too often. I know many, many of my fellow Unilocalers have been here and what’s funny is that I used to live down here in this area and I walked past it, but never made it in until today. A quick stop by my storage unit and a wander, by foot, over to the bus stop. The number 15 is right across the street and I decided that I had the time to imbibe on a tasty hoppy beverage. Before 4pm, there aren’t a lot of people in there so I figured I’d get in, grab a beer and relax. There were only a few people inside, but I saw no bartender to start, after about five minutes he told me to sit anywhere and I’d be able to get a beer. I asked about dark beers and he checked off five different ones on the beer list. It was another 7 – 10 minutes before he came back to me. The Caldera Coco Porter was the choice and 10oz of a really good drink is what I got. I glanced at the food menu and the word Kobe was all over it. The food looked good, but being that I had eaten a short time earlier, I had no room for food and had to head home to take care of other things and the animals I live with. Green Dragon is a good place to go but if it being slow when I was there and it took that long to get served, I can’t imagine what it’s like when it’s busy. The guy did check in on me and asked if I enjoyed the beer, so kudos to that. Enjoy.
