Great spot for a quick sushi fix. By no means is it the best roll I’ve had but it’s also inside the D gate of the airport. The staff is very friendly, and the rainbow roll was tasty.

I had a 4 hour layover today so I decided to explore PDX. Found out that there was a semi-new food spot that sold a version of a sushiritto(or as they call it, makiritto). Their menu consisted of basic rolls(tuna maki, salmon maki, California rolls, etc) with assorted nigiri and sashimi. I went with the salmon mango habanero makiritto. For $ 10 you get a burrito-sized roll stuffed with salmon, avocado, mango slices, cucumber, lettuce, tempura bits, and a mango habanero sauce. So what are they doing right? — amount of food for the price(considering it’s inside an airport where price gouging on food is common) — the veggies and mango slices were fresh and crisp — salmon was chilled at the right temperature for serving — tempura bits were crunchy and tasted«clean»…not like it’s been cooking in stale, recycled oil(not the good tasting recycled oil) — avocado was creamy and ripe — service was fast and friendly. The chick at the counter took time to explain some options to me and it took less than 5 minutes to get my food — they have their own naturally brewed soy sauce. They also have 3 other options of soy sauce brands just in case you prefer one over another. I also thought I saw a gluten-free soy sauce option! What needs to be improved? –sushi rice was overly seasoned with vinegar. It drowned out the taste of everything else — mango habanero sauce has ZERO spice! Should have just called it a mango sauce — lettuce in a sushi roll? Why? — salmon was bland with no marbling whatsoever. Actually, I’m not really sure if it was bland since the vinegar in the rice drowned out all other flavors — sushi rice was too moist(again due to the vinegar). So moist that the nori was disintegrating. Overall, not a waste of money and one of the better sushi places you can find for what it is(a sushi spot in an airport).

So glad to have this at PDX– Sushi is hard to come by in airports so I am glad it’s an option– have been there twice in 2 weeks– they have a large selection of grab and go– took several rolls on the plane– it’s like grab and go at whole foods– some might think the price is a little high but I travel four days a week and that is just how airports are and actually it’s a very nice change– the staff was very friendly-will go back next time I am at PDX

I got a sushirrito. It was decent… a great price for airport food, and it looked like most of their items were fairly well priced. The woman working there was very friendly and polite.

Came here for a second time in a couple of weeks and the sashimi didn’t disappoint again. Picture to post this time. Finally had time to stop by today after watching the construction for months. I ordered tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi and it was pretty good, not great. The portions were large and the fish tasted very fresh. I don’t expect airport sushi to be amazing, and I will definitely be coming back. I didn’t take a picture, but the presentation was very nice.

Their food is delicious ESPECIALLY considering its in the pnw. It’s rare to find an authentic restaurant in the region. We are not fans of craft/fusion(especially beer). It’s been a while since we had good Japanese food. I can taste that they use authentic ingredients. Japanese cuisine will not taste right if ingredients aren’t authentic. We’ll be heading back to Tokyo with full stomachs!

This place is horrendous. It’s a sad, pathetic knock-off of the popular(and way better) Sushirrito in SF. If you want food poisoning, you should eat here. The tuna they buy was frozen four years ago and they produce all the food in North Carolina and ship it in once a week. They’re also running a borderline slavery scheme similar to Loving Hut by bringing in Burmese families and forcing them to work for next to nothing.

I was very impressed with everything about Hissho Sushi. The food was made fresh where we could see it being prepared. Everyone was extremely friendly. The portions were perfect and the price was right. Great for vegetarians. I had a very delicious Makirito!

I had a craving between flights and wanted to fulfill it. Instead of being satisfied, I was sorely disappointed. The sushi rice had too much vinegar and the rolls were smothered in wasabi. Those flavors combined felt like it was masking the sub-par quality of their fish and other«fresh» ingredients. I will not be returning.

They’ve just opened, so there’s still some adjusting to do. I was so glad to a menu with all gluten free items at 6 am. The rice buns with egg and pork was a nice change from other stuff available. The food was fresh, and hot(or cold, as I also had a roll). That said, the bun was really sticky and messy, not a good idea for food on the run. And the service is a bit slow for airport food.

Off to a rocky start… Hopefully they can smooth out the bumps. Made to order, fresh, simple sushi(Tuna, Salmon, Eel etc) at the airport… seems like a winning combination. Unfortunately while the quality of the fish was decent(think Whole Foods) the extremely slow speed of the preparation, inexperience of the staff, and the obvious lack of leadership structure in the ‘kitchen’ completely killed any positives to my experience here. More specifically my two simple rolls(a tuna roll and a salmon roll) took over 20 minutes to be ready. And I ordered at the start of the evening rush. I saw people who were right behind me in line still waiting for food by the time I’d finished. Also, when I asked about which HandRolls they might have I got blank stares from behind the registers. I’m sure they will smooth out these bumps, but I’m not overly optimistic that the current structure of only 3 rolling stations, with chefs reaching over each other for common items, will work in this high traffic environment. Simplify the menu, have some of those items pre-prepared(get a couple people to crank out the popular items and only do that), and hire some employees that actually care and I think this location will kick butt. However in its current state, be prepared to wait a loooooong time for your food, and for the fast food style service to be mediocre at best.
