If you’re in a rush, I wouldn’t recommend this place because when it’s crowded, food can take awhile! I think our one sandwich took 30 minutes to come out, but I understand cause there’s limited workers. just s forewarning. We wanted to order the dirty fries but the portion was just too big for two of us and they wouldn’t allow for half orders :/ The disappointment was vanquished by their porchetta sandwich. Soooo delicious and a crazy splurge(on wallet & waist). $ 12 of yummy fried deliciousness that boasts a huge kick of flavor.

Always so good! Love all the sandwiches but the drinks are solid too. My kids love their burgers.

My husband picked us up some Lardo today and I was not expecting to be impressed. I was. I got the pork Banh Mi and my husband the burger and a side of fries. Everything tasted fresh and properly seasoned. I loved it all. Not all takeout can withstand a drive home but this meal did, even the fries.

Awesome. Finally made it to the Lardo North wiliams location after listening to Right at the Fork Podcast. What a great story of this one time cart owner — a success at brick and mortar transition. Love the vibe of the store. Our counter man had limited knowledge but really tried — have to give him a break since it was his first day. Great to watch the maestros in the kitchen do there magic. Quick and efficient service. The food — out of this world for a sandwich shop. The Phở French dip wonderful — perfect spice to open the palette but not overwhelming. The Fried chicken sandwich on Texas toast special needs to become a regular. The best Texas toast I have ever had, and I lived in Texas for 6 years. The chicken perfectly seasoned and fried. Not the healthiest of selections, but a good way to break your diet. The vibe and atmosphere is perfect for a fun neighborhood sandwich shop. Atmosphere/Vibe: 19⁄20 — little cleanliness issue Staff: 18⁄20 — only because it was his first day Value: 19⁄20 — for what you get it is worth the dough Food: 38⁄40 — would like the Phở sandwich to be warm Total: 94⁄100

I felt like such a lard after I snarfed everything down at Lardo. It was the first stop of our Tour de PDX and it definitely did not disappoint. Pork Meatball Banh Mi – An incredible twist on the Vietnamese sandwich. Their bread was at its perfect crunchiness with just a bit of firmness on the outside but not so much to where it cuts the roof of your mouth. The inside consisted of a thick slab of pork, pickled vegetables, sriracha mayo, cilantro and cucumber. All the components were fresh, specifically the crunch pickled vegetables. The sriracha mayo added a nice little kick to the sweet flavor. Dirty Fries — You must get the Dirty Fries. Even though we shared this among 4 people, we still had leftovers. It comes with crispy fries topped with pork scraps(aka bacon), marinated peppers, fried herbs and parmesan. Although it is a side, it is insanely hearty so for all you people with small stomachs, you can easily eat this as a meal. All of their sandwiches and eggs are cooked medium, unless you tell them otherwise. They use fresh ingredients and everything is made to order. This place is not to be missed!

Great sandwiches and sides. Solid beer selection. Staff was considerate and helpful with my son, who is in a wheelchair. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

Deli dreams come true on N. Williams! OMFG i love this joint! My GF and i have walked past dozens of times, but always been a bit too skint to try it out. We’d been particularly poor, recently, and finally managed to get some excess capital to burn and decided for a nice lunch of an unexpectedly sunny day. Knew Lardo was a deli-style eatery, but didn’t really know what to expect. Their unique, hand-crafted, high-end pork will be the thing that stands out to you, once you’ve finished digesting. I got the double burger with spiced porkscuitto, as a classy alternative to the classic PNW bacon burger, while H. got the mortadella deli sub. We barely spoke, while devouring our delicacies, to give you an idea of how enraptured we were with the food. The fries are some of the most flavorful and distinctive I’ve come across(and I’ve worked in kitchens for a decade for what it’s worth). As far as I can tell, fries are hand-cut from fresh potatoes, tossed with parmesan, and topped with rosemary sprigs and, seemingly, lemon basil. They have a happy hour with some good beers on tap, for those that imbibe, from 3 to 5:30. Pints are $ 3.50, which is damn cheap for PDX. I was happy with my bottled coke, nibbling on a kosher pickle, staring out the window on a sunny day. The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is its a bit spendy, in my estimation. Feel like a $ 10 burger should come with fries, but that’s me. This is definitely a high-end experience, and I’ll be back, even if it costs me $ 25. Really friendly staff and a clean dining room, which was delightfully vacant when we were there, was the icing on a cake, topping off a rather lovely getting-out-of-poverty celebration. We’d been having some kind of rough times lately, just being poor and hungry and stressed out, so it was much appreciated and very well received. Thanks for a lovely afternoon Lardo! We will return(and I can’t wait to try more of yr baked goods).

I had the bahn mi, which was good but not the best bahn mi by any means. I really liked the bread they use. My gf got an Italian style sand which and that was really really good. She actually said the best Italian she has had. Great tasting cold cuts. We split an order of the dirty fries which I did not find very good at all. The fries were over cooked as well as the pork belly. I could see this being really good if cooked appropriately. Being from Denver, I could see Lardo doing really well here.

First time here. Went to the one on Williams St. My husband and I shared the Korean Pork Shoulder. I am not a kimchi fan but this sandwich was exactly what I wanted tonight. It kept getting better and better with ever bite. The fries tasted like like they were cooked in lard. Could be wrong. I also got the tomato soup. This was just as delish as the sandwich. Loved every minute. Will be back!!!

I had the double burger(one of the most perfectly prepared burgers I’ve ever had), buddy had the Philly Joe(loved it). Plus we shared the Dirty Fries. A must get. I could go and just have those and be happy. And full. Sooooo good.

How do they even come up with these sandwich combos? Who puts chicken, pickled cauliflower, and fries together? All I know is that Lardo has become one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. I have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly, but not so friendly where they feel the need to have a 5 minute conversation with you. The service is quick and although the sandwiches are a little pricey, it’s totally worth it!

First time here today and it was amazing!!! Boyfriend and I took a little mini trip to Oregon today(from Washington) and decided to stop by because we’ve heard people rave about it. And trip was worth! We ordered the pork meatball bahn mi($ 9) and the Korean pork shoulder($ 10) sandwiches and they were DELICIOUS! The meat was flavorful, and it wasn’t overwhelming in any way! We also ordered the dirty fries($ 8) — this is something I would recommend trying at least once in your life, but not something I would get every time I come here(it can make the entire meal too salty). Overall we both loved our experience here. Great food, lovely service, and a clean environment!

Tried the porchetta sandwich and the potato salad. That was the most amazing and messiest sandwich I have ever eaten. It was very flavorful with the olive oil dripping out of the sandwich. I loved the ciabatta bread it was on. I had a weird vibe coming from one of the female servers, but it did not affect the rating. It’s just that parking was a bit difficult to find.

Apparently, the menu is consistently changing, the day we came it was a Vietnamese twist. My chimichurri pork with kimchi was so so, the meat was pretty dry as was my friend’s french dip. The star here is the fries with parmesan and lots of herbs. It also is very expensive. However, the location is larger and more comfortable than that of Hawthorne or the westside, I just haven’t really experienced the hype.

Bottom Line — They make their own breads and their sandwiches are fantastic. Skip the decision-making and just get the bahn mi. So good. At $ 9, it’s a rather expensive bahn mi, but it is so very tasty. Instead of bbq roast pork slices, as what you typically get, they use seasoned and flavourful pork meatballs, which are sliced and inserted into the sandwich. In addition to the cilantro, lightly pickled jicama and carrot, and the spicy mayo sauce, on the fresh baguette that’s slightly chewy, YUM. Best bahn mi I have ever had. Worthy of 5 stars. I had to come back to get a few to-go to eat later. I wish we had this in Seatte!

Last time in town I trekked to the Lardo in Southeast Portland, and upon getting off the plane this past trip I needed to pig out. This location is much larger inside and is attached to a bakery called Phillipe’s Bread. Together, for three, we ordered the Pork Meatball Bahn Mi*, the Bronx Bomber*, some Crispy Pig’s Ear*, and Bloody Marys. No we weren’t hungry. The food came out timely and the sandwiches are absolutely worth every penny in size and ingredients. The bahn mi was excellent. Bread was not too crunchy but not too soft, and the flavors and texture all worked very well together, and I’m a sucker for pickled vegetables. I’d love to tell you how the Bronx Bomber was if my sister hadn’t guarded it with her hyena-like ways. The crispy pig ears come in long strips, and they were more chewy/gummy than crispy but the avocado salsa verde is drinkable it’s so good. I may have been dipping my bahn mi in it. Their Bloody Mary comes with pickled veggies(maybe pineapple?) and has an interesting spicy-ness to it I couldn’t put my finger on, but that’s the joy of tasting various Bloody Marys all over the country(my life’s passion). We had to get a to-go box this was so much food, and let’s just say I considered eating it less than an hour later in the car. Definitely love the Lardo spots, and great for sandwiches! Pork Meatball Banh Mi pickled vegetables, sriracha mayo, cilantro… 9 Bronx Bomber shaved steak, provolone, salami, hot peppers, mayo…11 Crispy Pig’s Ear avocado salsa verde …5

Dirty Fries for life!!! Seriously, oh damn, I love them. The staff here is amazing! Super nice, really helpful, and just great all around energy. I was indecisive as to whether or not I would get potato salad on my last visit… I had never tried it, I asked a few questions about said potato salad to the lovely lady working the counter, she answered them so very well, and then offered me a taste! I tried it, I loved it, I bought it! I will also let you know that the Egg Rickmuffin, is not just for breakfast. It is for anytime you want to taste love, magic, rainbows, happiness, and pork… Amazingly delicious, salty, tender, mouth watering pork. I want that meat in my mouth!!! ;)

I swear we need a place like this in the Bay Area. Parking was a little tough to find, but cute neighborhood. I loved the ambience of the place. My sister and I shared the pork belly gyro and omg it was a huge portion and It was super delicious! We ordered the crispy pig ears which I love and the sauce was amazing. The dirty fries I swear is like another huge dish but it has got to be the best fry combo ever as my abs hate me. Really good food for the perfect price. There are a ton of sauces to try which is nice because I like variety! Def recommend for lunch and dinner!

I could have eaten the dirty fries all night long. Fatty pieces of pork scraps, peppers, parmesan … fries perfectly fried. I also had the Torta de Lechon with the pork carnitas, pickeld trotters & other stuff was a great match in a torta. My companions ordered the Pork Meatball Banh Mi & the Double burger which had ‘porkstrami’. Both were excellent sandwiches. We need a Lardo down in San Diego.

So there we were in Portland. Inside the vehicle was my friend, my son, and then me. After much deliberation and viewing Unilocal on my phone, we decided to go to Lardo. When we arrived the restaurant was not packed and was actually quite empty. They had a nice big board with all the menu items. Easy to read and items were described nicely. Since my son was with me, we decided on getting two different items so that we can each share and try. We decided on the Cuban and the pork belly gyro. We got our spoon and sat down and waited. I had also went and grabbed a couple of different bottles of their hot sauce. The ones I got were Agent Orange and Foot High. The food came and we started with the Cuban. It wasn’t what I expected, because to me it was not authentic. The sauce they used did not mesh with the vibe of the whole sandwich and actually could have been much better if they just used mustard like Cuban sandwiches do. That sauce just made the sandwich a bit of a disappointment. My son also came to the same conclusion. With every disappointment, however, comes satisfaction and it’s name was the pork belly gyro. It was as if the clouds parted and angels brought down the food of the gods. So, in other words, it was really freakin’ good. Everything went together well and having the soft pita and having the crunch of the pork belly was just amazing. It was so awesome that we couldn’t just have one and decided to buy another. Overall it was a good place to go. The atmosphere is also great and the staff was friendly. Can’t wait to go back for that Pork Belly Gyro!
