I love this Beauty Supply I have been going here since they first opened in their old little store I love the new store lots more but the customer service is what I appreciate most. Always helpful and kind and always have new products to try and more colored braiding hair then anywhere I’ve found.

I just moved here from Los Angeles and I really like the store. They have everything I need and they are very informative. The prices are the same as it is at my beauty supply that I used to go to in L.A. This is now my go to store, because of the large variety of hair that they have and products.

They behave the wierdest and have the worst selection of hair. Everything is very cheap comparable ro 99cent stores in the hood.

Very racist store. I was trying on wigs and they told me I was there too long when I ask if it was a problem. Curious how I could take to long to decide and all sales are final? I will not patronize this store and I would not recommend that anybody else does.

Living Color has a lot of stuff, some of which my hunnybunny needed. Prices were good. The staff were helpful. Selection was good. Hunnybunny was pleased.

This place has a LOT of stuff. The prices are good too. The bad thing is that there is simply too much to choose from for someone like me, who doesn’t know what kind of product I need, and they weren’t very helpful when I tried to get advice. I didn’t like how the store was organized by brand instead of by product type.

I love the selection of hair as well as body products(real cocoa &shea butters are great). Need hair, or brushes for your hair? Maybe makeup, some earnings or flat /curling irons? What ever you need to make yourself feel more put together. … they got it. Never tried to return anything before so can’t comment on that.

Great selection of human hair, solid return policy, and staff that’s more than happy to help(even when it means the customer saves money). I’ll be getting all my pieces from here.

I moved here from Florida where I had an amazing beauty supply store and I’ve had a lot of trouble finding the pomades I really like since I moved here. But Living Color solved that problem. I did not find the pomade I wanted(Monkey Brains). But I did find something that was just as good. The staff is somewhat helpful but very nice. I know I’m not the market they cater too but I do wish they had a large selection of pomades such as royal crown and not just the dax products. But they do from what I can tell have the largest amount of pomades in Portland.

No These hair beauty supplies are awful. Love the products at both salons hate the service in nasty attitudes. They watch women like we are criminals with cameras in our faces and when we ask for help they just stand there n watch you like a hawk! Ive been to Az beauty supplies they help you find wigs n hair they dont watch you like a hawk! Plus they have amazing deals… Portland beauty supplies sometimes I wish they had african american women more of them running them. I cant wait to open a shop! They do everything wrong with the cameras, how they deal with people,
is where I continue to order my cheaper products and i get 10% ALL my products.

Since my first visit, I decided to check this place out again to see if anything changed and to look for a specific product. The service today is so much better than it was over a year ago. I don’t know if management changed, or if I happened to go on a bad day before. To be upfront with my review, I don’t straighten my hair, nor do I use wigs/weaves so I cant comment about that. I recently put in a specific request for a product I can’t find anywhere else and they made good on their word — I’m impressed.

Horrible business practices! I bought hair from these people(first time hair buyer) and asked for help with the process, the sales girl helped me pick out a length and said this is the length that would work for me. When I got home I found out the length was what my hair is already at. I tried to return it and the owner wouldn’t return it or give me a credit! I told her that I was going to give her a bad review and she said«DOIT» So I am. I went one block down the road and bought the correct length from another beauty suppy place who was much more helpful. Should have gone there in the first place.

Sweet! A first review! Living Color, not the t.v. show starring Homey the Clown & Fire Marshal Bill, is a local beauty supply store on NEMLK, along with a bevy of services that cater to this neighborhoods residents, and those from far and wide! Mid-K, it’s very successful and ambitious competitor is just a block N on Killingsworth, but this has not detracted the owners of Living Color one bit! Dare I say they fully welcome the competition since they have now been stationed a mere block from the bohemoth that is Mid-K & it’s second location just off of MLK& Fremont! Originally located on NE Alberta &MLK, the store was more like a warehouse than a shop of business. I remember going there years ago as a new transplant to Portland, trying to find my way to ANY familiarity and was very happy to see Living Color. For a few years I went strictly to Living Color, rummaging through boxes after boxes of exported synthetic & human hair from Taiwan & China, stocking up scrunchies at less that $ 1.00 for a set, and warily looking into the empty eyes of mannequins that sported wigs of all types, good & bad. With it’s worn out and tattered signage, delapidated building, I didn’t know if Living Color would survive much long, but every time I went in people were perusing its stuffed and cramped shelves for their wares. The new location is smaller, but the owners must have got wise that they don’t have to have everything in stock sitting out in the open. Products are now displayed evenly throughout the store, and most items are easy to read and locate. Living Color is like the little sister of Mid-K, playing around in big sis’s vanity, but mischievously sticks its tongue at it singing, «Anything you can do, I can do better!»
