We walked in and were greeted with smiles. My husband had his prescription sunglasses on and couldn’t see due to the bright outdoor to indoor transition. As I made my way around to look for rum, one of the friendly guys behind the counter called out, «Welcome, how are you?»
My husband still fumbling around the door replied, «I can’t see. I can’t see!» As he dug through his pockets searching for his regular glasses, the guys shouted back to him: «It’s OK, you are surrounded by booze!» That cracked me up! I love The people of Portland.
One of them recommended a great off brand rum that we really enjoyed. He also tipped us off to a great local hangout off the beat & path.

They must have new staff here, because I had excellent experience at this store. Better than the Pearl or Hollywood or Clackamas. The clerks are funny, engaging and SO VERY helpful if you merely ask. They don’t pressure you to hurry in the least. I love this store and would recommend it to EVERYONE! Don’t believe those OLD reviews! GO, GO, GO.

I’m a bit concerned about some of these reviewers. I went in and browsed. No pressure. No nasty stares. When I saw what I wanted I told them and they got it for me. I paid, joked with the guy and left. Maybe you all shouldn’t be buying alcohol. It’s too hard on your tender feelings.

Last time I came here the parking lot was full but there were no customers inside. When I walked in none of the three associates acknowledged me other than just staring. To the female associate I said «wow I’m surprised your lot is full when there are no customers in here. Is there a problem with people using your lot and going elsewhere?» she replied «no, there’s no problem. That’s where the employees park.»
I’ve never been to an establishment where the only lot is reserved for employees and customers have to pay to park.
Long story short, service here is always rude and their liquor selection doesn’t compensate for it.
I recommend spending your money somewhere it’s appreciated like Rose City Liquor.

This place is on my way home from work. They have an ample selection of liquor and the same prices as everyone else (it’s state controlled or something). You buy booze and then go home and get drunk.Simple.

It is just a liquor store, but the service was bad. I was going to buy something else, but felt like I would’ve got shot. This is very serious. Know exactly what you want and you’ll be fine. It depends who helps you too, stay away from the old grumpy man.
I’ve also never been to a liquor store where they store everything behind the counter, kind of lame. I guess it does make sense for the neighborhood though.

I think I’ve had my last experience with this liquor store. As other reviewers have mentioned, you have to place an order. Not only are you not allowed to pick up the bottles to browse, but they have counters set up to keep you a small distance from the actual displays (otherwise expect angry/​suspicious looks from the clerks). I’ve never experienced particularly friendly staff at this store. And today I discovered they don’t carry Everclear based on a personal choice made by the owner (fine, but wtf — you’re a liquor store?). While they recommended another store out of my way, the were willing to give me the phone number for a closer store, but didn’t offer to call to see if they had Everclear in stock. All in all, it’s one of the oddest liquor stores I’ve been in, in Oregon. Not helpful or friendly staff and pretty limited selection.

My advice? Walk into this place like you’ve got a gun tucked into your jeans. Lock eye contact with the cashier. Chin up, order: «Bottle of Beam, green label.» Pay cash. Leave. Do not deviate from this plan.
Otherwise, they will eat you alive.

I don’t buy liquor enough.
I can never remember what the various sizes are called. A pint? A Fifth? A handle? A gallon? Do they sell quarts of alcohol? They should. And what about those little small guys? How do you ask for those? I don’t know why I’d get one, but if I wanted to one day?
I think they should have a key/​legend.
So clearly I can’t stand the places like this where I have to place an order. I always have to end up pointing at something or picking something on sale so I can say «yeah can I get that bottle of R&R that’s on sale?» And the people who work there look at me like I’m a foolish lady who doesn’t know what words mean. Well, sorry.
There’s too much pressure here to get in and get out. No time to browse about and actually put my paws on what I want.

Got liquor? Why yes, they do. Little happy bottles all lined up behind the counter on the shelf. You kind of have to know liquor and what to ask for since you can’t really browse on the sly. The no nonsense «tell me what you want and show me your ID» sales clerks are not really in the mood to chat or offer advice. In and out. Hard core liquor buyers would appreciate the efficiency. I have heard told that this one is open on Sundays and others are not.
