Lowe’s

I ordered a refrigerator and range on 1÷13÷16, received them 1÷26÷16. Delivery was late (about fifteen minutes past the given two hour window which was only inconvenient because I was then late to work) and the delivery gentlemen were nice. Both units were damaged, but one of the delivery guys offered a 10% discount for the range. I pointed out the damage on the fridge and he offered a discount on that as well, indicating that if I changed my mind I could call back and they would replace the units (without the discount, of course). He said either way that Lowes would be leaving these units as loaners in the mean time.
I initially agreed to the 10% discount, and changed my mind four hours later when I thought about how the damage obviously had repair attempts. I sent an email to Customer Care and was called back by Alisha to determine the issue. Alisha agreed to replace the units and said she would have me called to determine a delivery date.
I was called by Tye in appliances to schedule a delivery. He indicated that I would need to pay for the new units before they would be delivered, then seemed to say that I would not be charged until delivery. I told him that I was unwilling because I initially paid for new units, and neither of them were new (seemed to be floor models perhaps?). He repeated that I would need to pay for the new units and I said that I would then prefer to return both for a full refund.
I will not be making anymore purchases from Lowes. I am extremely disappointed, either in the execution of customer service or the policy. I would like to point out that no one was rude to me, but that isn’t enough to keep me as a customer I have added pictures of the damaged «new» units along with this Unilocal review.
Update 1÷31÷16:
At about 5:40 pm, I received an automated phone call that my pick-​up for the damaged appliances was scheduled for tomorrow (2÷1÷16) between 4:00 and 6:00. When I spoke to Tye, I made it clear that I could only be home «any day next week before noon» because I have work. I had to call and wait on hold for a bit in order to change it. It wasn’t excessively inconvenient, but I do believe that I shouldn’t have had to waste more time, and I have become overall quite irritated with the misadventure of purchasing my appliances from Lowes.
2÷1÷16, The Saga Continues:
Last night when I called back to reschedule the pick-​up, I made it clear that I am now only available on Thursday before noon. Dominique, who took my call reassured me that the new pick up time is set for Thursday (2÷4÷16) between 10:00 am and noon. Although he did say that they would «see me tomorrow» and I had to correct him, I trusted that the pick up would indeed be for Thursday.
Today, I get a message from a Lowe’s delivery gentleman at 12:12 pm while I am driving to work. He thinks he is at the incorrect address. I call him back, he is at my billing address, not the delivery address. I relayed to him that the pick up was scheduled for Thursday, that the address was in a different state, and I told him that I will go ahead and call Alex who is the manager for deliveries to make sure this all gets sorted and these appliances can finally find their way out of my kitchen.
I’m not even mad, I’m just bemused at this point.

The guy in the plumbing department is the worst. Or, I thought he was the most attitudinal hardware store employee of all time, until I met a new guy at that desk today-​Lowes, idk what’s happened to you guys.
However: (if you’re reading this) the guy in the flooring dept is knowledgable, happy, helpful and just plain awesome…

Purchased a bottle of weed spray and a small bag of fertilizer. I asked for a bag to place my items in… told NO! We decide if you need a bag! I said «really»? I went to grab a paper bag and the clerk ripped it out of my hand and said «no bags»! Watch out for the bag Police! I will never return to shop.

Horrible customer service. They rarely recognize customers, are often too «busy» to help and gave a generally poor disposition. Don’t bother purchasing anything from here. The time it would take to pick up said items isn’t worth it.

I should of driven the extra 10 min to Home Depot! I went there for window cleaner and asked 3 employees where to find it and none took the liberty to walk me to the item after communicating frustration about non finding what I was looking for! Take the time and go to Home Depot where the employees are knowledgable and want to help.

Tonight’s visit reaffirmed why we purchase everything on Amazon now. Tried to do and in store pick up that ended up taking 30 minutes because all of the employees were on break.

My recent experience at this Lowes store and follow up lack of delivery made me cancel my transaction before having a chance to try it out. I would not recommend the Delta Park store in Oregon. They told us they had an item in stock and then after disappearing for 40 minutes The appliance manager Todd came back to say it was scratched so they’d get another one out for emergency next day delivery since he’d had us wait so long.
Then Todd didn’t even bother to ring us up himself and handed us off to a young man he’d just been rude to right in front of us (totally inappropriately). Then that kid handed us off to another person (this is just to pay and set up delivery mind you). Basically every employee seemed either confused or disinterested in helping us. It took an hour to do all of this.
The next day at 4:30pm I call and they didn’t even have it out on a truck AND it takes another 15 minutes for that manager to even find my order. It had been slotted into an «unscheduled» area meaning they didn’t even know when it would be coming. After spending all that time first at the store and then taking the day off for an «emergency delivery» that wasn’t even scheduled, I will be taking business elsewhere and letting my friends know it’s best to just avoid that store.

This review is specific only to the kitchen design department. Stevie and Alina took the time to help us design a very small kitchen with maximum cabinet space and a reasonable budget. Stevie was a delight to work with over the course of our planning and even augmented our original design to take advantage of a corner we thought would have to be slightly wasted space.

It’s a huge national hardware chain, you know what to expect. They sell everything, except when they don’t but they thought they did.
I got sent around the store three times by different employees as I tried to find The Bagster, a Waste Management product that Lowes’ website said was in stock at this specific store. I never found it and eventually confirmed with one employee (the fourth I talked to) that Lowes no longer carries the product. Fine, I just wish they told me the first time.
I’m not looking for great customer service here, but at least knowing what products you sell is a basic first step.

The personal at check out are totally inept. First I told the checker that she doubled scanned 3 different items, she blew me off on, not wanting others in line behind me to be held up I went to customer service desk and they determined she doubled scaled 5 items. 2 days later went thru self check out and two items dodnt have bar codes on them, asked the person standing there if she could look up items, she said she could do nothing because they had no bar code stickers on them, I told her what the items were but she still said nothing she could do. Third time in went thru self check out and I kept getting errors on the scanner, the Lowe’s personal who was there walked away like nothing was wrong. I thought home depot had bad customer service but this Lowe’s location has gotten worse over the past year. By the way these instances happened just last week

The WORST customer service I have ever had. In contrast to Home Depot. I was at Home Depot on Saturday and had at least 7 different employee ask if I needed assistance, on Sunday I was at Lowes and the employees almost ran the opposite direction of customers. When I did find someone that was seated in the «doors» section (his name was Lindsay) I said excuse me, and his response without looking up or at me was «yes» I waited to the count of almost 30 seconds and he finally looked at me, I asked where the baby gates were and his response was to point and say «over there». I actually told him that he should actually look at customer and say «hello» or «can I help you» and be being friendly always helps!
Needless to say I won’t be back and my Lowes card will be cut up!

They do not take care of their employees and only seem to blame them for problems within higher management. They can’t even plan a fair days deliveries with any sense. Basically, stop feeding the machine. Get building parts at the dump or a small local store. Lowe’s does not really care about the community or about making a stronger company built off ethics instead of greed and Lowe’s doesn’t belong in Portland.

Actually one of the better Lowe’s I’ve been in. Store was clean, directional signage was everywhere, and the staff was actually visible and helpful. Plus, there wasn’t a lot of random crap crowding up the aisles which usually makes it hard to drag your giant flatbed cart down the aisle without knocking over 10 dozen bottles of Febreeze or some kind of retractable mailbox thingy (umm sorry about that, clean up on aisle 95!).
Their appliance section is pretty small but of course they offer to order anything from online and have it delivered to the store.
As I mentioned before, the staff was very helful, even though they were kind of busy. To be honest, we had someone with us who was kind of agressive and I’m sure jumped the «can-​I-​ask-​for-​help» line, so we were able to get help right away and just kind of ignored the passive-​aggressive stares of judgement from other customers. But hey, if you don’t mind that, than being agressive definitely seems to work out.
Other pluses — big parking lot and quick access on and off the freeway.

You know the drill.
One fine morning, you start the hot water to take a shower — except — only cold water comes out. We had known for quite some that the water heater we currently had was not long for this world. At least, the beast gracefully conked out, not going down in a hail of hot water and steam bursting out its side (like I’ve witnessed elsewhere).
So, it was time to check out water heaters at Lowe’s. Before going to Lowe’s, we got price quotes from other plumbing agencies in Portland, and Lowe’s beat them all. But let me share a li’l secret with you: you will not be able to get a water heater installed on a weekend, by anybody. That’s just how the cookie crumbles. So that being the case, I scheduled installation on an upcoming weekday.
This was the second major appliance purchase I have made from Lowe’s this year. In July, I purchased a dishwasher and had it installed at my Seattle house. Because that experience went so well, I was comfortable with doing another deal with Lowe’s.
I particularly liked Lowe’s phone system; it was easy to get in touch with somebody right there at the North Portland store. A couple of other big box stores had phone systems that forced me over to an international call center.
Personnel at the North Portland store were knowledgeable and cordial. I did not feel rushed or pressured into a sale. I like too that a staffer from Lowe’s called the day following installation to make sure that I was happy with the installation. I was very happy with the installation.
This would have been a five star review, but Lowe’s had cancelled the Lowe’s credit card we had obtained just this past July, adding some complication to the purchase process.

AVOID this LOWES!!!
I typically enjoy lowes even though I mostly used to go to this one because I can avoid freeway traffic as Home Depot is located on Hayden island.
I am a professional contractor and don’t need lots of technical help on things. just point in the right direction
The shelves in this store are BARE. They are CONSISTENTLY out of items that are pretty basic. It’s almost comical how minimal the stock is. How much money does it cost to keep ¾ PVC elbows in stock? The hardware, the fittings, everything. Take a stroll through the store and look at all the empty spots on the shelves. I mentioned it to a contractor friend the other day and he said «yeah, that lowes is great if you want to then have to take a trip to another store to get the stuff they don’t have in stock»
Not to mention the customer service is TERRIBLE. The other day I needed something and hobbled past the greeter on my crutches. What I needed was on the shelf about 20′ away from this guy. I couldn’t reach the shelf however and was essentially jumping up on one leg to try and grab the box. After about 5 attempts, I’m basically sweating now, I turn around and the guy is just standing there watching me. I was soo pissed. I said «so what you think man, you just going to fucking watch me jump and get this box for your amusement?» He walks over, doesn’t even acknowledge that maybe, just maybe walking 20 feet and helping a customer is the right thing to do, grabs the box and hands it to me.
I was soo upset I even called corporate to find out just what the deal was with the store. At any rate, I’m done. I’m never stepping in this store again. That’s too bad for them, getting my receipts ready for taxes at the end of the year, I spent 33k in this store last year.

New winter hours are no good. They now close at 9pm Monday-​Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. I find this to be a inconvenience.

Called ahead to exchange my tiller — it stopped working on my second use. I said that I had purchased it last fall and was told that wasn’t a problem so I brought it in. They directed me to the manufacturer, something they could have told me over the phone. I wasted my time and energy. Now I’m driving out of the lot with a lemon of Troy Built

Poor customer service wait and wait and people barely say hello. Waited half hour to exchange propane. Lady didn’t know if they had gas caps or not wasn’t busy and just pointed.

Contrary to some other reviewers, I found the customer service to be OK, my issue is with the quality of the products and the price. Have had issues with Lowes’ Kobalt brand and other brands they choose to carry. On the plus side their customer service desk always takes back the broken garbage for a full refund with no questions asked!
But I just bought a ladder for $ 99 without shopping around because I stupidly assumed the big box stores were cheapest. Saw the exact same ladder at Ace on Lombard for $ 79, not even on sale. Lesson learned. Will avoid the big box stores at all costs and go to Ace!

I usually love Lowe’s but honestly I’ve never been to a Lowe’s with such disinterested customer service. We basically stood around clueless and desperate looking until we could flag down an employee to help us. We eventually gave up in the blinds section. The employee was busy chatting away with some other customer (mind you not discussing anything remotely related to home improvement). Guess our makeshift window coverings from blankets and sheets will have to do for now… That’s just how much the customer service at this store blows… I’m just throwing in an extra star because the cashier was awesome and seemingly the only competent person working here…
