Magnum Opus

I have gone to MO over the years trying different stylists and colorists. I have no issues with the stylist staff. I do have issues with the receptionist staff who answer the phone. I wonder if they live on Mars. They are not knowledgeable about their staff or products and can not problem solve. These are the folks who represent your business to the public. Invest in training or pay them more to attract a higher education. I cringe each time I wish to call the Salon and either ask a question or see if or what stylist is available for my time frame. I realize MO is a large salon and staff can not know all things… but it needs to ramp up.

Bentley was so talented in coloring and styling my red hair, which is an art. Her skill matched the friendliness of all of the staff and the cool urban environment. Darlene

Armando is the BEST!!! I shouldn’t say that, so I can still get in to get my hair done! Ha ha!

I always thought that a big salon would be pretty much just for women, i was way off base! This place is awesome, pre and post wash is a step up from the norm. Cami does great work and seems to be very detailed oriented, Thanx and see you soon!
Maybe a fine IPA on tap would a great addition the experience?!

UGH! Magnum Opus. You have GOT to get better staff to answer your phones!!!
I called today to try to get in with Jill, who I’ve seen many times before. I explained initially that I needed an evening or weekend appointment with her. The receptionist proceeded to give me weekday appointment times. I again explained my request. She then gave me a 3:50 cancelation time tomorrow. When explaining my initial request a THIRD time, saying I needed a weekend or evening appointment, she said Jill doesn’t work weekends. So, it took 3 times to get my answer. I asked if any stylists worked the weekends. She then said Jill had an opening at 6pm on December 30^th. I feel like I was on Mars talking in some alien version of English since this girl on the phone was so incredibly disconnected.
I’m afraid I’ll now need to find another stylist at another salon, since the people who answer the phone can’t get me anywhere near close to what I’m needing or even answer really basic questions. Very disappointing and incredibly frustrating!

Management reached out immediately to make things right. I can’t express how much I appreciate this in a business and will give them another shot, and an update, once my services are complete.

After my horrible experience at Venus Allure (check review) this past Thursday 10÷08÷15, I couldn’t go back to have Stephanie fix what she already messed up so I came to Magnum Opus after a referral from a coworker and another salon to see what they could do. First off, the salon is beautiful and professional. Second, they have a giant parking lot just for their customers. Third, their receptionists are wonderful. I explained my situation and she immediately displayed sympathy and kindness and fit me right in on a Saturday to see Amanda.
Amanda was friendly, sincere, and really listened as I explained through tears what happened and what I wanted to do to fix it. She went through and texturized/​thinned the chunky, thick areas of my bangs allowing for my hair to lay nicer and shaped the layers around my face. Amanda also showed me how to properly blow dry my bangs and a few styling tricks to hide them while they grow out.
I had such a positive experience here even though it was to just fix what someone else had done. I will most definitely return for my next full haircut and any future color services. I was so impressed by all the staff I interacted with and how at ease they made me feel. Thank you, Magnum Opus Salon for a wonderful salon experience! I can’t wait to come back.

I visited Magnum Opus for the first time on July 2, 2015 because of a referral. I was placed with (unnamed stylist) and told her what I wanted done to my hair and showed her some pictures. She did a great job on my color and I walked away happy. I returned 4 weeks later ONLY because I wanted a slight touch up on my roots because I was leaving for a trip. I spoke with Her and told her I wanted a base color and my highlights touched up, taking my bangs and around my face slightly lighter. The stylist and I spoke about my upcoming trip where I shared with her this was the reason for the color and that I loved what she did last time on my highlights. (she did not do a base color last time just highlights because I was adding highlights for the first time.) Upon seeing the finished results I was visibly upset. I continue to tell Her that it was too dark. I didn’t like how my highlights no longer went to my scalp, they looked grown out and it was way too dark. The ONLY solutions she gave me was to wait around the salon and she would try and fit me in to add more highlights or go home and wash it and come back on a different day. I can understand those options. Staying was not an option on my end since I live and hour away and only had my babysitter for 4 hours. My next option, come back. So I proceed to checkout and pay, and upon doing so I speak to the gal who checked me out to see where This stylist could fit me in Friday or Saturday. I was told she was booked up and couldn’t get me in. I explained that I was not happy with my hair because it was too dark and I needed to leave town, that was whole reason for color. When I asked when she could get me in I was told the earliest was Tuesday Aug 11. (which would not work because I was out of town) I then paid my $ 170 and left because I was very overwhelmed at the situation. I called Friday and spoke with the gal at the front desk. She told me there was nothing she could do to help me. I asked if someone else could get me in since My stylist was booked and I was told no because that person would then be working for free. I asked if she could take the $ 70 I paid for the highlights portion of my bill and give it to whoever else could do my hair. I was told that even if she could do that it would be impossible since everyone was booked Saturday. So I expressed how unhappy I am with my hair and asked to speak to a manager. I was told no managers could contact me until Monday morning. I was visibly upset because I was crying and she was very sympathetic towards me and let me know that Monday a manager would call me and try to figure this out with me. She was very kind and understanding with me, I appreciate that. The same gal then called me Saturday at 11:30 to ask if I could come in at 12:30 for The same stylist to squeeze me in to put a few highlights in my hair and I could leave with my hair wet. I told her that wasn’t possible since I lived an hour away and I would need to get a babysitter at my house for my kids and there is no possible way I could be there by 12:30, then asked if anyone else could fit me in and she said no, and reassured me again that she hadn’t forgotten about me and that she would make sure a manager called me Monday. Monday comes around and I am busy preparing and packing for a trip I was leaving for Tuesday morning so It did not occur to me that I had not received that call from you guys. I knew I had run out of time and there was absolutely nothing that could be done to fix my hair since I was leaving on vacation. So I thought I would just wait until I heard from someone and see what my options were now. By Tuesday evening when I had not yet received a call I decided to post my review on Facebook. I understand things don’t always go as planned with hair cuts and colors. That is why I was trying to figure a way to get my hair fixed before my trip, even though it would cost me a 2 hour round trip drive and $ 45 – 60 in child care expenses. So that is what led to my review. A few days after my Facebook post I heard from the manager claiming they had no knowledge of my situation. By this time it was a week later. I agreed to speak to the assistant manager when I returned after my trip. After a long conversation she offered to get me in with another stylist since I was no longer willing to go back to previous one. I agreed and made an appt. I had to cancel my appointment because I just wasn’t willing to pay the 60 $ for child care to go have hair fixed. Had this salon been able to fix my hair before my vacation this review would be different I’m sure. I just can’t bring myself to go back… money lost…

Professional salon! I’ve been getting my cut/​color with Shannon little over year now and she is very knowledgable and provides you with what you want as her client!

I’ve gone to Magnum Opus twice now, and both times have been awesome. Jamie Ferero is my stylist; she is very talented! Though the price may be a little spendy, it is well worth it. MO will probably be my go to hair salon indefinitely.

I concur with Stephanie M’s review of the salon and specifically Monroe. I also have long blonde hair and I’ve never been anything but delighted with the way Monroe cuts and colors like the pro she is. Love her!

I’ve been going to Magnum Opus on and off since 2010. Somewhere around 2012 I started going to Monroe, and I haven’t looked back. It can be hard to find someone who’s really good at doing natural blonde highlights, but Monroe is awesome. She’s also super easy to chat with, which makes appointments go by fast.
If you’re looking for someone who’s good at doing a natural blonde color, Monroe is your girl.

LOVED it here! It was such a positive experience from beginning to end. I was assigned to Amanda and she did a wonderful job — it was the best that my hair had ever looked! I will definitely be going back here and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to go.

Sara, Sara, Sara. She is a goddess! Being relatively new to the city, it quickly became apparent that doing «extensive» research on salons was necessary after an unfortunate experience at another salon. Sara was so sweet and so totally nailed what I was looking for. You will not be disappointed by a visit to Sara or Magnum Opus!

Love this place. Professional treatment and service top to bottom, like a high end salon in LA or NY. Beverages while you wait, very clean and well decorated salon, fast paced and efficient service at the front desk and in the chair. Pricey but worth the quality. They use a technique specific to that salon and are very thorough and understand different hair types. The consultation actually feels like a consultation, not a conversation that they are mumbling through while they look at your split ends.
Bonus tip: if you look at the «models» section of their website they give free services to folks who will let their staff train/​test on their hair! Great way to get a free cut, and it’s right before they get licensed-​they already have experience so you don’t have to worry about a total chop job. Just make sure to tip them well since they don’t get paid the big bucks til they become a senior stylist.

Armando!!!
For years I had been trying to find a hairstylist I can love for life. I got referred to magnum opus by a friend and was told to see Armando Sistos… My life has forever changed!!! Armando is a hair genius, and has made me feel more beautiful than I ever have before! He will literally make you feel like Beyonce.
His technique is amazing, he won’t stop until your hair is perfect, and the more you go to him the more he knows exactly what to do to make you happy. Lately the thing I look forward to most is getting beautified by Armando!
I used to get my hair cut once a year, and now I go every 2 months for a cut and style, and to touch up roots (although his ombré is so perfect even when it grows out that sometimes it doesn’t even need touch ups). Plus, he’s such an amazing person, i go for the company as well:))))
I have never been happier, he’s my stylist for life!

Bentley has been doing my hair for 3ish years.
I’m in every 3 weeks to cover my grey roots, and twice a year for a haircut. I could not be happier! My hair is usually just dreadful! Dry, curly, frizzy, and there are gobs of it. Somehow Bentley keeps me looking younger than my 35 years, with shiny, healthy, pretty curls. She also manages to get me colored, washed and styled in an hour, which is an amazing feat in itself.
Prices are pretty reasonable, and I always leave looking and feeling great.
Bentley is a doll too.

All the workers are really well put together and are super friendly.
Clean and friendly atmosphere!
They also have different price ranges you can choose from. ($$ — $$$$)
Cheaper doesn’t necessary mean they lack in quality. I’ve been pretty happy with all my cuts.
I’ve been getting my hair done by Anthony.
He listens to you, he is detail oriented and takes his time, which I really appreciate.
They also use Karastace for hair care/​treatments which is by far the best product line I have ever experienced.
