Mattress Lot

These people nail it when it comes to customer service — and quality! I needed to buy a mattress for my elderly mother — from the moment we walked into the store it was a pleasant and easy experience. The sales people were patient and helped me purchase the mattress that was most appropriate for my mom’s needs. They went out of their way to make sure the delivery worked with schedule — and then — to top it off they realized when they arrived at my mom’s apartment that the bed frame didn’t need a box spring, so they called me and said that they would gladly return it to their store and offer me a refund. I wish every business operated with the kind of values embodied by this great place.

Lovely little shop with a great selection and very helpful, non-​pushy staff! We were very intimidated by the process of finding a new bed but instantly felt comfortable when we walked in. They answered all our questions and gave us plenty of space to roll around on all the beds. We got a gorgeous queen size bed and metal frame for $ 580 and it was delivered 3 days later!

The customer service was friendly and quick as we already knew what we wanted. My favorite impression of their team was the delivery men (Caucasian bearded man and African American man), wish i got their names. They were super friendly arrived early and even said they could wait… what?! Too sweet. Obviously
we had them come in. They were so sweet to my son and even let him help open his new bed since he was devastated about replacing his toddler/​crib bed. They were great and quick.

I loved that the staff isn’t paid on commission, so that they can give you an unbiased opinion. Sadie, one of the employees, gave me plenty of time to feel the matresses to find the best one for my aching back. The beds seem to be much better priced than the same quality beds in a chain store. The 90 day comfort guarantee gives me peace of mind. I can’t wait to get my new bed!

I found Mattress Lot on Unilocal and decided that we would go there once we got to Portland. We arrived from Tennessee on Monday. We went to Mattress Lot on Tuesday. The salesperson was helpful. She asked us what we were looking for, we explained and she pointed us in the right direction. She did not follow us around making suggestions, which is usually annoying. We picked a bed. Everything was reasonably priced and affordable. The cost of the bed includes the box springs. Which I might add, up until this experience I did not realize that there were different sizes. We went with the 4 inch, which works well for keeping the bed low profile as the sales person explained. They said they could deliver the next day from 11am to 1pm. They called at 11:30am and arrived at 11:45am. The guys who delivered were super nice and efficient, setting up quickly. I would recommend Mattress Lot to anyone in the area.

I purchased one of the high end memory foam mattresses a few months back. It was a customer return so I got a discount on it. They have an extensive selection of mattresses and price ranges, but this was the one I liked the most and it happened to be discounted.
Today, I still am very happy with my choice. I hope that 6 months from now I feel the same. (I have a feeling I will)
I really loved the fact that the people working here are all helpful, but never pushy. Everyone I interacted with during my visit to the store, the phone calls for scheduling delivery and the delivery were all positive. I believe the woman who I interacted with most is Sadie. She was very accommodating and explained how everything works with their policies etc. etc. Sadie rules! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to buy a bed and wants a casual customer service experience with staff who are very knowledgeable about their products.

Mattress Lot is a prime example of why I like to shop local, especially in PDX, cuz gosh darnit, people are just genuinely friendly here! I bought a new latex pillow here because my beloved one was starting to literally fall apart to pieces. All the pillows are nicely organized on a bookshelf and labeled clearly. The salespeople are helpful, but not pushy and let you take your time to decide; but there to help when you need it. I went home with my new pillow to find that it looked like it had been used (eyelashes? weird… I dunno, I was weirded out) and the salesperson had specifically told me no returns because they don’t ever accept returns on pillows. But after I called and explained what I found, he asked me to bring it in right away and that they’d be happy to exchange it. Definitely not their fault, maybe some sort of factory mix-​up.
I look forward to coming back for a new bed purchase in a few years! :)

What can I say, I had no idea mattress shopping could be fun and low-​pressure.
First off, the salespeople here are super chill which contrasts all other mattress salespeople ever. Like, they contrast the norm so much this could be an episode or Portlandia… but in a really good way.
Also, THE PRICES! No hogwash here, just good mattresses from local companies with responsible materials and screaming deals.
Also available are beautiful locally-​crafted woodwork, dressers, and bed frames. They give discounts if you ride your bike, they’re in a central location and they deliver! There is no reason to go to any other mattress store, unless you like arguing and spending a lot of money.

Mattress stores sometimes make you feel like you’re about to make a car deal… if you notice you’re getting that feeling, might wanna check out Mattress Lot.
Locally made mattresses, not price games, no heavy pressure… in fact, no pressure. No big sale, baloney.
We’ve bought mattresses twice, this is the place mannnnn.

I have purchased three mattresses from these guys over the years. I have been very happy with each of them. Even when I bought an inexpensive innerspring mattress for around $ 300 it was super comfy. Please check them out if you are looking for a zero pressure environment to purchase the best mattress you can get. What they sell is higher in quality and cheaper than the «S» Brands.

Enjoyed the experience of learning their products and pricing. It’s not a pushy sales place, they know their product well and pricing does not change.
Really like their emBrace bed frame. It’s durable, attractive and at $ 279.00 it’s a good deal. Three sales people came to us and all were great.
I did not end up buying a mattress here, I chose the Serta iComfort visionary at Macy’s over their rejuvenate brand which would take two weeks to deliver, but had to mention this place has a great vibe.

They worked with us to make sure we ordered the exact mattress for our needs. I highly recommend Mattress Lot. Excellent customer service, selection and price. Please support this family owned business. They far exceeded our expectations.

Fantastic place to not only find a good mattress, but also one where there are a good amount of sustainable and locally made options. We’ve bought two mattresses from them over the past couple of years, and the service is consistently great.
[Note: My only reasons for not giving all 5 stars is that it’d be great to have more interaction/​expertise from the staff on fitting a mattress to a person — educating on what to look for (not simply telling you to lay there for 5 – 10 minutes), looking at the curvature of your spine, asking questions to help you figure it out. That and one of the salespeople had SO much perfume on :(]

Yep. What they say is true. This place rocks! As soon as I got money for a bed from my mom (yep, you heard me right), I began my research before even returning to Portland. By 4 days after my return, I had a new bed in my room, the old one taken away, and my back has a whole new perspective on life!
There are many options but once I told them firm, it narrowed it down quite a bit. Only one, and the foam roll were available for delivery that day. The other most popular models were due for delivery on Friday. I don’t know why prices are so low. I asked the dude (whose name escapes me now). He said it’s because they dont advertise and they have direct deals, yada, yada, yada — I stopped listening. Same stuff as on the website I guess. Oh — and they don’t really deliver on bike anymore — but twice a year, less than a mile, and only twin beds.
So — For less than $ 700, I had a new mattress, water-​proof pad, two pillows, delivery, removal, and a new set of sheets (bought elsewhere). Didn’t need the box spring. I love it. I feel so much better and I can believe it took me 52 years to have my very own first new bed! These guys are cool.

Professional, friendly, helpful, prompt. Words you want to see on a review and words that are all true of Mattress Lot.
It is odd that in my 40 plus years that I have never needed to buy a mattress and I’m not sure why that is. I wasn’t going to a big chain because it would have cost too much and I really didn’t have any experience in handling this. Thankfully, I travel around the city and passed by Mattress Lot. I also checked the reviews and saw four people I know (including three I’ve met at Elite events).
I went over there yesterday and within a half hour I had four very helpful staff members and a new bed. The mattresses are locally made in Washington and are hypoallergenic. I ended up with a pillow top.
As for the delivery, they said between 3 and 4, they were at my place at 3pm, practically on the dot. Can’t beat that.
So, for my first time purchasing a mattress, I’d say it was successful. If you are in need of a good mattress and service to match, come here.

For the service alone this place is a 5 plus! Everyone is super helpful and the word customer service is definitely not an antiquated concept here. I also appreciated that I didn’t feel like I was being swindled by a used car salesman. They let you peruse alone, but are gladly there to answer questions and help out.
Our first mattress suffered a little mishap upon delivery and the bottom felt accidentally tore on our staircase. Mattress Lot was super accommodating and gave us a few options to remedy the situation. We ended up not liking the mattress (could feel the springs in the mattress) and they didn’t charge us a restocking fee (secondary to the torn felt)) to replace the mattress which I thought was pretty sweet.
Unfortunately I’m also not a fan of our second mattress. We’ve had it for over a year and I still think its too firm. We’ve placed a mattress topper to soften it up a bit and I still find the bed uncomfortable. At close to $ 2000 for a king its kind of a bummer, but I definitely would check this place out as hands down they have the best customer service!

When you go in to try out beds, they match you up with a pillow that matches your sleep style. I’m cheap so had never bought a serious pillow before, but the one they matched me with was amazing and I got sold. (Best purchase I’ve made in recent history, actually.)
We originally purchased a Mattress that wound up being too soft for us. Sales people were super nice on all fronts, helpful without being intrusive, and helped us sort out why the first mattress wasn’t working and find one that would. The original mattress was more expensive than the replacement, and we were able to buy a coffee table from them (among the last of their home goods furniture stock) with the remainder.
They delivered the original mattress, and when we decided to return the mattress, they also picked up our old mattress for the swap, and delivered the coffee table. Delivery guys were very nice and helpful, and coordinated everything in advance, etc. etc.
Then — today, ~6 months later — I got a card in the mail with a handwritten note and saying they appreciated my business. It’s the little things, people. Would highly recommend.

Mattress Lot gave me the best customer service experience of my life. Needing a mattress, I went where the Unilocal reviews directed me and they did not lead me astray.
So… leaving the Bay Area a few months ago U-​Haul dropped the ball on me and my hitch-​installation/​trailer rental at the very last minute. That means I moved up to Portland in my lil’ Nissan Versa. That also means I left all my furniture on the sidewalk (you’re welcome, Lake Merritt!!!). Getting the keys to my new apartment on a Thursday and desperately wanting to leave my sublet the very next night, I was hopeful I could get a mattress purchased and delivered after work and in time for the weekend.
I stumbled into Mattress Lot 20 minutes before they closed and the very kind owner greeted me and quickly walked me through my options. After an abrasive and overly enthusiastic «I’LL TAKE THIS ONE!» on my part, he immediately gave notice to the back delivery men and had me on my way. It was such an immense relief to have a business work so hard to meet my needs. Especially when my expectations were a little unrealistic.
My apartment was in their free delivery zone and the guys showed up not ten minutes after I left the store. Seriously, how amazing is that? They were so friendly and helpful. My apartment is shaped like an octagon (it’s gorgeous, I promise), so they gave me advice on how to place my bed. They even moved it a couple times to help me compare.
What really shows me just how amazing Mattress Lot is: my next-​door neighbor was moving out at the same time I was moving in. After the delivery gentlemen dropped off my bed, they each took some of this complete stranger’s boxes down to her moving truck to lend a hand. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! Could you get any better, ML?
I am so proud to have done business with these folks. My new mattress is delightfully comfortable. It was even made locally. I love supporting businesses like this.
