Native Gardener

Landscaper is friendly and appears to be knowledgable but does not respond to calls/​texts and does not follow through. Hired him to design and plant front yard and allowed clean slate for creativity with basically a free-​hand but he never got the design to us, never returned calls, and we gave him plenty of time to do so. After posting a review on his company FB page we received a response immediately where he claimed he sent the design two weeks prior to the post. There was no communication in any of our accounts. He’s a personable fellow, just not very professional and does not yet know how to manage a sole proprietorship. We hired someone else.

We hired Nate to mulch our yard and remove old growth, prune and shape plants, replace some blueberries and expand our native plant area. He is a very friendly happy person, who works super hard and brought along a great crew. He was able to work around our schedule to meet in the evenings and on week ends. He was able to upgrade our yard and haul away debris in Hus truck which was a bonus. We definitely like Native Gardener and will hire him again.

I hired Nate to do a full yard design starting from essentially a blank canvass including a new deck. We discussed what I wanted for the yard and patio leaving plenty of room for his own creativity then I waited and waited and waited for pricing and designs. As I was only in town a week, given I live and work overseas, I left him with a substantial downpayment (even without the pricing or designs yet) and upon completion he would receive the rest. What came as a surprise was the lack of follow through or even initiative to begin the project given his relatively new status and a check in hand. I was not there to supervise or push the project along and it is apparent that that is clearly what Nate needs, considerable supervision and someone with their thumb on him. After nearly a month and a half, my property manager swung by the house and saw that NOT ONE THING had been done! NADA, ZILCH! Communication was never returned in any timely fashion and once I informed him I was letting him go, I never even got a response from him! Nothing! As a person he is very nice to deal with one on one, but unfortunately nice doesn’t make up for incompetence and unprofessionalism. He may know his plants, but he clearly cannot run a business and more so, should not be!
