Soup’s on! This is the time of year to hit up this cart. some nice hot soup along with baked cornbread stuffed with goodies. This time I went with the vegetarian black eyed pea soup along with the curry vegetarian fishy and his brother the spinach and feta fishy. Been too long! I think even the fish sammies are bigger!

Date Visited: Monday 10÷31÷11(Lunch) I finally got to try the soup and fishes at this food cart! It’s a little bit of a trek from work, but I was in the mood for soup and they had 2 that sounded really good. I tried both(the yellow split pea and the white bean with roasted corn and red potatoes). I liked both and should have ordered both. Instead, I got the white bean(because they have it less often) and 2 of the fishes(tomato/mozzarella and the cheddar one). I actually ate the fish while waiting for the MAX train to get back to work. They would get 2 stars from me. They’re edible, but there’s really not much to them. The soup was put into what you get at a coffee house(to go) — about the size of a «medium» and I actually wolfed mine down on the train(something I hate doing, but I was hungry). Of course, all the heavier contents sunk to the bottom. I’ll continue to monitor their weekly e-mails to see what soups are available, knowing that I need to go earlier if I want to almost guarantee they have the soup on hand when I get there. I’m looking forward to going back and getting soup, especially since the weather will be getting chilly.

I freaking love this cart! Delectable soup, tasty little cornbread fish dealies, and John always giving the warm & fuzzies to all who swing by. I recommend getting on their email list for a quirky note to your inbox every Monday morning from Sean, the other half of NFGF, which includes a list of the soups for the week along with the company of the week. This gives a discount to all employees who work there on one or two of the days that week. I also recommend mixing soups together for your own savory blend of deliciousness.

I am surprised that No Fish! Go Fish! doesn’t have many reviews! We were staying with a friend who lives near this place and we checked it out for lunch. This place ROCKS. Such a neat concept — different fillings inside a mini bread like fish. We tried four different fish(garlic and parm, cream cheese and pepperoncini, sausage and cheese and one other which I can’t remember). The cream cheese and pepperoncini was my favorite since it was so unique in flavor — very savory. I also had the Asian cold noodle bowl… which was AWESOME. It’s hard to find good cold noodle salads and this one is great, especially with some tiger sauce! Soups look great, too! Highly recommend this place! Try it soon!

No Fish Go Fish has some wicked good soup and awesome service, but in my experience the(no-)fish were pretty lacking. I swung by around 2 in the afternoon when I had some time to kill and had an awesome chat with the proprietor. He was out of the vegan-favorite curried vegetable fish and immediately offered to whip up some black olive ones instead. It took a few minutes(for him to make up some from scratch, no less) but we discovered that we had a mutual friend in common so we filled the time with some nice conversation. The $ 6 lunch special will net you 2(no-)fishes and a 16oz soup. There’s a good 3 soups to choose from and always a vegan option for both the soups and fish. The vegan Mushroom Barley soup was killer but my olive fish weren’t. Nice concept, but I’ll definitely be ordering a different flavor next time. 5⁄5 for service, cool dude. 4⁄5 for soup, warming tongue fun. 2⁄5 for fish, not living up to their rep.

One of my favorite lunch spots. After reading reviews, seeing it mentioned as one of the best carts in the area I made it the first food cart I tried after moving to Portland. Pretty much every soup has been fabulous and the cornmeal sandwiches are a fantastic accompaniment to them. My favorite soups: Chili(with a ladling of beer cheese on top). I lucked out one winter day and this was on the list of available soups. It was suggested that I try a little mash-up of the two and boy was that good. Cream of Jalapeño. Every time I see this one come up I go on a NFGF binge and head over every day for a cup full. Just spicy enough, just creamy enough. I wish there were more without onions in them, so my wife could partake more. Also, having my favorite soups all the time would be good, but then how would I review anywhere else?

My favorite food cart in Portland. Simple, straight forward, and AMAZING. Every soup I had was delicious and filling. Every day there is at least one vegan choice, usually a total of three choices all together. Examples include, dal, red bean and rice, mushroom barley, and curried carrot. For 6 dollars, you get a serving of soup and two fish«sandwiches». The sandwiches are not made of fish; they are fish shaped! They consist of a vegan cornbread batter with some yumminess stuffed in the middle, such as black olives, curry, or herbs. They are cooked in a giant Korean fish-shaped press. Perfectly-sized for dipping into your warm bowl of soup. For a city with as any cold, rainy days as Portland, No Fish! Go Fish! is a necessity.

I’m the first to review this well-established cart that’s full of character? Really? Something must be wrong, because No Fish! Go Fish! is a cornerstone in the food cart scene. Okay, this was my first time, but from what I hear… This unassuming cart is the place to go as the weather brings cold and rainy days. For $ 6 bucks you get two of their fish-shaped sandwiches and soup in a paper cup. It’s quite the deal. I think the sandwiches bring the cart character: they’re corn-based pockets of a filling of your choice. Today I got cheddar cheese and a spinach and feta sandwich. They weren’t amazing, but c’mon, how many fish-shaped foods do you get to bite into? They definitely were warm and good. I would say the soup bring quality to this cart. The dal I had was amazing and even a little spicy. Again, perfect combo for cold weather. Check out their website for their daily menu and info on their restaurant over on Hawthorne. Maybe one day they’ll have matzo balls. So come for the fish-shaped sandwiches and stay for the soup. Yum!
